If you go to Japan and talk with some persons above the 30 years old and ask who was Moroboshi Ataru and Lum he will answer of course about Urusei Yatsura. In the past years we saw many remakes about the animes of the 70's and 80's like Lupin III in a special episode celebreting his 40 years old, Doraemon a new serie, Gundan, and of course the most knowed football player in anime Tsubasa wich contradicts the saying "Left the old one and that the new enters " but the people are adoring this good old animes. Can Urusei Yatsura be next?

I meaning "Can Urusei Yatsura be next?" because of the many remakes that were made in the past years for other animes we might expect an Urusei Yatsura remake.

Lets hope we get to see one more UY,it would help boost Rumiko popularity and make future otakus 2 like UY

It would be great if it had the Movie 5/OVAs art design

But the Ironic thing is that in that time UY was very popular, so they should of had some deep pockets to hire good directors

Indeed, but because of some disagreements good directors were also leaving.

I long for the days of the Akemi Takada/Asami Endo designs. They were the only ones that really captured Lum's beauty and innocence. They also had an old school charm about them. They were very appealing and weren't overly stylized. Just goes to show that anime does not have to be crudely drawn in order to be good.

As much as I'd like to see a new UY series that is more faithful to the designs of Akemi Takada and Asami Endo, I'm not that optimistic. After watching an episode of Inuyasha, I feel that "style over substance" has taken over. It would be great to see Lum shine again, but the future of UY looks rather bleak at the moment. :(
