Continuing with my preoccupation with seiyuu birthdays: Shuutoru Mendou's seiyuu, Akira Kamiya is 63 today. Just saw a news report about him: he's leaving the series Detective Conan after a 13-year run voicing character Kogoro Mouri. He gives no details on why he has decided to leave the show. Hope all is well and we'll be able to wish him many more Happy Birthdays in the decades to come.

And, I missed a birthday greeting to the "Angel Voice" herself (that's the title of her website, BTW): happy 50th Birthday to Saeko Shimazu, voice of Shinobu Miyake (and so so so many others); born 08 September 1959. (Boy, ya gotta wonder about a woman whose given name sounds like "psycho", hmm? :P >:D )

The rumor is that it's a salary dispute. Oh Thank Goodness! I mean, these guys and gals are aging. Ichiro Nagai (Cherry) is older than MY parents, for example. And we've lost a couple UruseiYatsura seiyuu already. So, when I read that one of the original cast is "suddenly leaving a current role", I get anxious.
