Topic: [TODO] Confusion in the "special characters"

... ehm ...

 something strange must behappened after the last restore the site: I realized that, instead of "special characters", in the threads appears a strange symbol that look like a question mark.

The fact is that the consequences are even in dire: whole sentences are removed from view.

I noticed that this happens when you meet these characters:

"ù"

"..."

apostrophe (eg: I'M, or WAHT's, or I'D)

I have to change something in my browser, or indeed the site has been scrambled?

Yes, I've been seeing the same in several topics and posts... the entire content of the post disapears or the only thing left is just some letters or just quotes.

Please point me to those thread/posts, so I can see what went wrong. UTF8 seems to be b0rked here. May need to get another update to get this fixed..... sigh...

Surely all the thread of the section "RPG, storyline and fanfiction: any time I wrote "Lamù" a lots of phrases are disappeared until you meet another <<question mark>>.

Now that I go "in deep", in the threads that I used the japanese ideograms now it appears a lots of "???????".

Most of "Nightmare Battle" is suffering from this mysterious bug, Fearless Leader, but I am sure you already saw how it looks now

From now on we will have to type carefully or face these question marks of doom

For the time being, yes, please do. I'll dig into this and will try to correct all those thingies. Currently the forum is in UTF-8 modus but the conversion went wrong with the last update to SMF 1.1.12. Contacted the developers-team of SMF on how to prevent this in the future.

Oke I just have finished a lot of edits to you posts. As far as I can see almost all odd thingies are gone now. However there were some posts with other odd combination's of characters which replaced the '

Somehow I missed those after editing tho most commonly errors but I forgot to bookmark those pages. If anyone stumbled upon such a page/post, please post that particular thread here, so I can fix these as well.
