Isn't piracy supposed to be bad or something? Maybe they changed that sometime when I wasn't looking, though?

Never been bad, only ilegal^^

but who cares? 90% of those that have computers have at least downloaded 1 gigabyte with things from internet, (yes, music is just as ilegal, more ilegal ifyou want to know^^)

Download it, thats my best advise, the police wont come at your door, the worst that can happen is that you get a warning, (this happened to a friend of a friend of mine, he had downloaded like 200 giga in a mounth, xD, well, he got the warning, but continued and nothing happened, the warning wasn't even from the same country, so they had nothing they could do about it really)

Anyway, keeping downloaded (piracy) items on your computer is legal for 24 hours, so if you are very cautios, download the file, put it on an extern harddrive, and delete it from your computer, fully legal^^

Never been bad, only ilegal^^

That depends on your perspective. What if you were one of the people who contributed months of hard work to a project (I'll leave what the project is ambiguous, so it could be a movie, an album, an anime series, or anything, for that matter), and depending on the project's financial success in order to feed yourself? What do you do when some prick goes around showing the world how everyone can get their own copy of that project for free, which cuts it's potential for financial success at least in half? What are you planning on feeding yourself with now?

Now I'll admit, the multimillionaire stars who are only loosing pocket money, as far as I'm concerned, have no right to complain. They're rich whether or not the project succeeds. But they're not the only people that work on these projects. You'd be surprised at how many normal non-rich people work behind the scenes and who's livelihood is getting a swift kick between the legs because of piracy.

As an artist myself (I've recorded a few cds in my day), I can totally sympathize with the artists that lose money because of teenaged brats who think that the world owes them everything, and for free, just because they're alive, stealing the products of their blood, sweat, and tears.

You're a bad, evil person, and I hope the RIAA and the MPAA descend upon you to burn your soul and eat your babies.

PS: Even if you delete pirated software within 24 hours, it's still illegal to acquire, use, or possess. It's just like buying crack!

PS(x2): I despise the kind of lowlife that commits any kind of crime and justifies it as if what they're doing isn't wrong because of whatever bullshit reasons. If you're so noble, you can protest the law without committing the crime. Even if a law is morally wrong, it is still law, you are still a criminal. If you're going to commit a crime, accept that you are committing that crime, otherwise you're nothing more than trash making excuses.

PS(x3): I'm also a fan of Aa!! Megami-sama. I've been reading the manga for years! Actually, I think it was the first manga I ever read. The newer anime is pretty good (never much cared for the old OVA series), but I still like the manga better. Go figure, huh?

I've downloaded stuff, but mostly for the purpose of creation. I like to make videos and other media as such. Ex. the Pre-Series Finale Urusei Yatsura "AMV" Video I created last year and posted to mark the end of Urusei Yatsura (TV).

4 months ago, I saw a review that used the beginning part of my AMV (and I think some audio) in his video review and I thought "Dude! That's from my video!!! Sweet!"

I actually thought that was kinda cool.

First of all, great to see another AMG fan. ;D

And second, it's true that downloading is illegal, but there's also a proven fact:
If people had to get everything legally (meaning piracy was fully controlled and impractical) about 50%+ of those people wouldn't bother with x product. I'm not saying companies are losing money, I know they are. But even if you we're able to count all the people that resorted to piracy to get product X, it doesn't mean the company lost those many sold copies.

And also on that, it's not illegal to download in somes cases. There are cases in which the only person commiting the crime is the original download/torrent creator. As long as you don't share it with others and aren't thinking of making any money out of it, it might even not be illegal (I'm not 100% into the laws, and they change from country to country, so I can't be sure of this).

And now a note for UataruY:
If you don't mind watching AMG downstream, I know a website where you can. Just let me know if you're interested and I'll PM it to you.
Signatured postponed until I cba to make a new one. x.x

well, i come to think of something. It is proved that companies earn "more" money now than before piracy! That was the real reason that they aren't following the law to the core. People that download things, often want the real original item. (I am one of them). You can in one way say piracy is a way people can test the items they arent sure if they want to buy^^

I am pretty sure this still isthe case (that they earn more by piracy) but sadly i got no proofs at the moment, maybe il  post one later if i get my hands on any xD

You people trying to point out loopholes, trying to justify your illegal actions, trying to make it into some kind of morality protest, and trying to use imaginary lines drawn on some map to cover your asses... you really are sad.

FYI, despite my own understanding of the other side, I remain a committed pirate. I know what I'm doing is wrong, and I accept that. It's not like it's the only law I frequently break. I prefer to live by my own rules instead of those of a society I'd really rather just not have a part in.

You know, the only problem I have with the AMG anime is that there are too many recent story arcs (even some really good ones that were skipped over) that will likely never get turned into an anime. But I guess that's just another part of why I usually prefer manga to anime. Oh well.

No, seriously, this is the first time I've ever heard the term "AMG"

I have not taken a particular interest in the anime, so I can't really think of a situation where I would have heard of it before now.

Um... AMG is one of the big three. Back in the 90s, there were three animes/mangas that became really popular in the US and brought the whole anime/manga culture into popularity here. Those three were Dragonball Z, Ranma 1/2, and Ah My Goddess. How anyone who has any interest in anime/manga not have heard of AMG (and its abbreviation) seems a little impossible to me.

Dude, I was a CANADIAN 1-10 year old throughout the 90's. I didn't even know what anime was back then. And I doubt that they would show Ranma 1/2 here cause of the inappropriateness (this is CANADA not the US) and I think something similar for AMG.

The big FOUR of that decade, for my age group, was Pokemon, Digimon, DBZ, and Sailor Moon.

Canada, America, really, it's the same. I did forget about Sailor Moon though.

AMG is far from in any way inappropriate. Ranma showed bare breasts on occasion, but AMG is like zero ecchi (well, unless you count the times Peorth and Urd tried to seduce Keichi, but they were never naked or even in any real provocative poses). It's like the most family friendly manga I've ever read.

Like I said, i never saw it so I dunno why they wouldn't show it.

But as far as Canada goes, I don't believe they showed AMG. during those years, I basically grew up with channel 26 (YTV) and not much else. That's a Canadian station so yeah...

Despite what you might think, there is a difference between anime shown in Canada and those in the US. To the best of my knowledge (although I guess this doesn't apply to AG anymore) Canada will censor everything from nudity to violence. I don't think the US does that or at least not as strictly.

Usually if the anime is too censor needed, it doesn't come to Canada (like Ranma) which suks for us...

I'm familiar with YTV. And American TV is no different than Canadian TV, except we have more channels with less interesting shows (and more commercials, I think). As far as I know, Ranma didn't get any play on American TV either. But they did sell dubs of it in video stores, and it kinda got dragged along in the wake of DBZ and Sailor Moon becoming a fad.

Personally I hate censorship and don't see a need for it. Even if I had kids, I'd probably let them watch porn if they wanted, like what my dad did for me. Better they know what's what than keep it hidden and keep them ignorant. That's why the sexual revolution failed. Censorship just makes people stupid. The real world isn't censored.

I really need to learn how not to rant.
