Mr. Mary Sue
« on: November 07, 2008, 01:58:02 AM »
Everyone knows what a Mary Sue character is right? An RPG  character that is basically way too powerful and has next to no weaknesses.

Well right now I'm fighting with a guy who's using such a character and I was bored so I decided to talk about it here ^_^ :P

Anyways, this guy is soooooooo screwed in the head. I think he gets jealous of everything as in he HAS to have anything someone else in the RPG has. I brought in an army and he decided to shot them all dead before I could do anything with them. He cloned one of the other RPG characters and gave him MORE powers.

His sword can absorb any energy including LIFE. He's a freaking God Mod

Dunno why it's called that though

What RPG are you playing?

It's a zelda RPG. Currently, me and the others have managed to make it to the near end. This is supposedly one of the last battles we have to face.

Btw... the Mary sue user... he happens to be the one who controls all the bad guys so yeah... we're kinda pissed.

so his character is "Nitro" and guess what? his USER name is "Nitro the Omnipotent"! so that screams Mary Sue -_-'''

The rest of us play the 8 heroes and we use the transformation system and were fighting him with each hero at their highest transformed states. Then... Nitro pulled a transformation of his own (He never seems to admit to damage. He mostly dodges or repels all our attacks. If he were to get hurt, the he powers up instead and the attacks become neutralized)

I don't know who the hell "Vitos" is or where he came from but apparently "Vitos" is currently fused with Nitro now and he has attained some stupid super Light Element armor. ugh... There's only one way to deal with a Mary Sue character, and that's WITH a Mary Sue character

hehehe... }) }) }) B)

exactly hehehe. A couple of years ago, I had a semi-sue (he had his weaknesses and I TRIED not to make him too sueish. He made appearance in this RP but I rarely used him for combat)

For this battle, I decided to unlock my OC's next to full potential so I could keep up with Nitro.

So... the other 8 heroes are sitting back to watch while my OC fights Nitro's. I've thought long and hard on this. My OC basically has 6 dragons and can fuse with each one individually for different battle armor. Thus, me and Nitro will have 6 battles, I am currently on the 2nd.

So Nitro keeps going after "the core" (if he destroys it we all die) and one of my dragons has psychic abilities so I have it "lock" Vitos' mind (the one that powers up Nitro) until he backs off the core and continues our fight.

So now we're in a debate on why what I did was impossible. He says that "if a single bieng tried to contain Vitos, he'd explode" which is complete bullcr**. He says that any energy sent at Nitro's armor (His armor IS Vitos, apparently) would be decomposed into basic energy and absorbed.

But a psychic wave is NOT energy!!!

he can be very frustrating. But I've got 2 major plans for him that he won't expect, hehehe

What's ridiculous though is that he made us fight the Metroid Prime, Sephiroth, the Winged Dragon of Ra and a bunch of other Final Fantasy/Metroid/Yu-Gi-Oh-/Mario creeps. It's come to the point where it isn't even a Zelda RP anymore -_-'''

And he's very anal about HOW we had to defeat those "Bosses"

Anyways, I have a definitive way of Dealing with him. I noticed that the only attacks he lets damage him is forest attacks so I'm saving my forest dragon for last :P. The other five are gonna be used to weaken 5 different areas: Attack Energy, Stamina Energy, Mental Energy, Health Energy, and Defense Energy.

That's the second way to deal with a Mary Sue, de-sue it hehehe...

Offtopic: I like telling my story, lol. You'd be surprised on how many people share my view on this

This is his point: "Simply put, Vitos's mind alone is very powerful. With his mind alone, he was able to temporarly override an extremely powerful seal that kept him from giving his power to Nitro, set by every god in existance a long time ago. Compared to that, his mind should be able to override your physic barrier."

My counter point is simply that it's not a barrier, at least not one made of energy. The psychic wave locks his mind therefore he cannot think and additionally he cannot access his powers.

This make sense?

like I said, it's barely a Zelda RP anymore. You may as well call it a General RPG and Nitro keeps bringing in stuff from other games.

His weakness... he doesn't watch anime so that's how we counter, by bringing in stuff from anime he's never heard of hehehe... Ima gonna use the Lord of Nightmares (Slayers) to kill him lol

lol, yeah but if EVERYONE is a Mary Sue then that's the same as having no Mary Sues at all, they're still equal.

He's all about power, his character just can't be affected by anything.

I'm all about strategy, if nothing works on him we'll find a way to MAKE it work. That's why I'm breaking down his strength and weakening him.

Of course I don't expect to defeat him by the time the 6th battle ends, that's why I prepared a little something special for him. My motto is "He who wins is not the one who defeats the other... but the one who accomplishes his objective" and MY objective is stalling him so we can bring in as many help as possible from the overall RP.

confusing no, but it can be stressing. Currently the others are taking a break while I go one on one with the sue.

Currently I'm waiting for him to reply (he posts about once a day....)

Edit: Update, he finally posted and here's his defense:

(If you could simply 'lock' his mind, this would be no 'final battle' at all. This would be toying with your enemy, then killing him. If Vitos' mind coud simply have been locked like you say he is, he WOULDN'T BE HERE, and this entire story would NEVER have happened. There is a reason the gods went to such extremes as to seal him in that sword, and that is simply because NOTHING else worked.)

my response:

(If you're saying that Vitos is strong enough to resist it then let's just end the RP here cause otherwise your character is too powerful to fight. You wanna know WHY your gods wouldn't use the technique that Zaldelios is using? Because as long as Zaldelios is holding Vitos, he can't move his position otherwise he'd lose the connection. Meaning one of your gods would have to spend his eternal life trying to keep Vitos locked (assuming any of your made up gods CAN use psychic abilities, and since you DID make them up we can assume they do) and eventually the god would run out of energy and Vitos would be freed again which is a PERFECTLY GOOD REASON why they wouldn't do it... under the assumption that they could)

LoL

You should add Forgotten_Lum (Deathmatch 1 & 2 version) to that... he's the God of Memory... with very powerful mind control and psychic powers... if you read the DM topic you'll see that we have our own Mary Sues... Like Kroptik said... XD

on one hand, I don't think he'd want to cause it'd be totally random to him and he doesn't really know what's going on.

on the other hand, it'd catch Nitro by surprise and that's always fun.

Like I said before, after I'm doing fighting him with my OC, we're going to bring in a bunch of other characters such as an army of dragons, the Urusian army ( XD ), two characters that were mains in this RP but had to catch up, one of 6 Noble Elder Alchemists, and finally 2 main characters from the PREVIOUS RPG (as in the one we're doing now is RP 2).

Then we're gonna unleash hell on Nitro

well we can't just kick him there and be done with it.

No, I'm gonna kick his ass properly. (Lol, this guy brings out the worst in me XD)

Kicking him is not the way to go. This RP is like DBZ level fighting (really really powerful fighters) and it'd be anticlimactic your way.

I'm not a Mary Sue in NB. x) I have my weaknesses. Anyways... you must have a party like this to fight a Mary Sue: Ninja , Dark Magician, Light Magician, Archers, Warriors and a Cleric (or more).

If he doesn't watch Anime, "copy" Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden abilities and moves to make your ninjas and use Yu-Gi-Oh for the Dark and Light Magicians.

we can't just add new characters out of the blue. What we have is the following:

-8 Heroes (one for each element)
    Light (Mine)
    Shadow
    Fire
    Water
    Earth
Wind (unfortunately Nitro uses this one. Ie he is RARELY used)
    Forest (Link ^_^)
    Spirit (Mine)

-Drake (my big OC) and 6 dragons

-Zantrax (yet another character Nitro uses and therefore uses rarely)

-Lamu (don't ask me how, we were bored waiting for something new to happen so I brought her
in for a funny episode. She ended up sticking around...)

-Raku...  now he's ALSO a bad guy(used by diff RPer) and he's supposed to be stronger than Nitro.
The reason why we don't use him as our go-to fighter against Nitro is cause Nitro refuses
the fact that Raku is stronger.

-10 Termanian Alchemists:  I created these characters and there's one Alchemist for each element
(periodic table). They were the "enemy at first but ends up joining the
good guys" type. They can fuse together in different combinations and
currently they are fused into 4 compounds.
     Nitrogen
     Hydrogen
     Oxygen
     Carbon
     Beryllium
     Phosphorus
     Fluoride
     Chloride
     Aluminum
     Sodium

-----------------------------
These are the characters, besides Nitro and Vitos, that are currently at the battlefield.

Then there are character's that haven't showed up yet.

That's a LOT of people. o.o

It's not like it's possible to win a text-based fight, especially if none of the characters are computer controlled. You see how Goku in Dragonball would always pull some hidden power he never knew about before whenever he was in trouble? That's what always happens in those fights too. xD

If you don't believe me, check the beginning of the deathmatch, when we were fighting each other. We were always saying the dead ones were clones or illusions or whatever else we could think of. xD

I have 10 virtual bucks that he's gonna start attacking the dragon that's "holding" Vitos XD

lol, well he finally posted and his post was... to attack the dragon!

"(Thank you for the wonderful new way of countering your post. No changes are needed anymore..I think. I honestly think it would take more than one mortal dragon to tether an immortal dragon, but this immortal dragon it currently trying to hold open a seal over his power, so I guess that would weaken him...BTW, they aren't all made up. Inexistance is the only god you've met that isn't my own creation, all the others are existing characters from different works, with their roles expanded upon. Anyways, thank you for forcing me to call in reinforcements.)

Mwahahaha, it looks like I need to come to the rescue. Be glad I'm stepping in for a second, brother, you need the help.

The black sword Nitro had dropped earlier was floating in middair, and from it was visible another phantasm, a dark reflection of Vitos...and it spoke.

Oblivios, reporting for duty.

The new apparition had appeared right behind Zaldelios, and moved to tear off Zaldelios's head.
"

I am posting my response right now ^_^
