« on: March 11, 2011, 02:10:44 AM »
1. Romania is only country that has not aired Urusei Yatsura?
2. What have been the reason?

First of all, welcome to Lum-chan.com, George1000!

I think UruseiYatsura has not aired in many countries (not just Romania). I think it only showed the first 2 episodes in the United States.

"Why is this?" you ask. I can make a guess only. For the United States, I would guess that UruseiYatsura was at a time when anime was not so popular as it is now, so there was not enough interest from TV. For Romania: my guess is that UruseiYatsura was at a time when Romania was still under Russian control, so it would have been forbidden by the Government.

Right, there are many countries who urusei yatsura was not aired, it is not so popular as Ranma 1/2, because Urusei Yatsura have many japanese references and plots, that could'nt understand international peoples.

I heard it was aired in Italian, France (censored dub with other character names ex. Ataru = Ronnie), Catalan, Spain, UK (episode 1 and 3), and Phillipines (animax english dub)

I wish very much Urusey Yattsura in romanian. I called HBO Romania Company where have many channels including Animax. Thay says this anime is very old and thay can't run this Anime because they run new anime.
I tried to contact fansubs (enthusiasts who have a hobby translate anime) on fansubs forums but I was treated with indifference.

I know about the problem, most fansubber says: "Urusei Yatsura is too long, very old and we don't like this". Currently i found a german fan sub group and i translate (alone) the first sixth episodes to german, but i didn't think i would sub the rest of the tv series because with 195 Episodes it is too long for me, if anyone german fan subber wouldn't help me. The fan sub group controls only my translations, if it is okay.

But if Urusei Yatsura would come in germany, i think we didn't get the second movie without censor, because the film shows some National Socialism swastikas and is forbidden in Germany by the law.
