In your opinion why Ataru will decides to marry Lamù ?

I have an idea about it but, for now, I will not reveal it, because it is the "surprise ending" of <<Sayonara Ataru>>, the story with which I will close the cycle of my fanfictions ("The Unofficial 10th season".

Returning to the question originally, according to you, what event or what feeling will be able to make the "big step" to Ataru?!?

That depends on the context.

Imagine that Lum is very ill and close to death and Ataru wants to make her last wish come true. Now imagine that, that wish is being married to Ataru. Ataru wouldn't say no to that. But then after they're married, Lum comes back to health and her illness isn't fatal or serious as it seemed. Still, Ataru and Lum were married to eachother.

Now, another situation that I've exposed in the Forum:

Lum manages to get in a church with Ataru. Both of them are with wedding outfits and in the right places of the church aka in front of a priest (a oni priest). Lum also managed to get the entire UY cast in there, as witnesses. To avoid trouble, she managed to lock the church up and restrain Mendo, Rei, Ginger, Pepper, Sugar, Kurama, Ran, Shinobu, Jariten, the Stormtroopers, Onsen-Mark and Cherry from acting crazy. At this point, Ataru has no place to go and no one to turn to. The priest asks Lum if she wants to marry Ataru. Obvious answer: yes. The priest then asks Ataru if he wants to marry Lum and he doesn't say anything because he's too nervous and too busy thinking on how to get out of there. Since the priest is also a oni, he's on the side of Lum. That's when Ataru hears (from outside the church) a random woman yelling "WHY DOESN'T ANYONE WANT TO GO OUT WITH ME?!?!?!" or a random man yelling "WHO WANTS FREE PORN?!?!?" and distracted by the noise, he answers the yelling with another yell "I DO!!!!!". There, Ataru said yes.

But wait, Lum and Ataru still have to kiss and everyone knows he hates to do it in public. Lum is already ready for Ataru's kiss but Ataru shows no sign of "action". However, as soon as Ataru yells "I DO!!!!!", Lum's father, Mr. Invader laughs out loud, gets up and gives him a big friendly tap on Ataru's back. But since Mr. Invader is strong enough to send Ataru flying, Ataru gets pushed towards Lum and the kiss happens. There, wedding accomplished.

I could go on and on on this but the answer to your question really depends on the context.

Hmm... Imagine if you can... Ataru gets somehow a alien disease that unfortunately for him its deadly to humans and he'll be dead in 2 days... and because he knows he's going to die he goes in a rampage after girls... but ends up collapsing and wakes up at home... with Lum crying by his side. Seeing her cry he feels sorry for her and decides he will marry her, because at that moment its the only thing he can do to make her happy.
So the preparations are made and he finds himself in a Oni ship... with a Oni priest and a human priest... they get married and when at the after wedding party (lol) thinking he would die at any moment (time was up) he goes and have a drink that ends up being an alien cocktail that somehow works as a antidote for the fatal disease on humans... seeing himself recovered... and not dead... Ataru jumps in joy and immediately starts grabbing every girl there... as Lum looks to him happy because he's alive... she rapidly fly to him and gives him a "love zap" and they live happily ever after...


So... there... that's according to me, that event  will be able to make Ataru make the big step... and probably regret it after... because he lives... XD

I see that you too think that Ataru would decide to marry the alien if he wes about to die and then, miraculously healed, would be stuck.

But I thought something even more "deep ": WHAT IF SEVERAL OTHER CHARATERS WOULD DIE ?!?

Above all, after all of this, what if Ataru would REALLY die too, without possibility of salvation?!?

In that case, would be able to confess his true feelings to Lamù almost few second before to die ?!?

MORE, DO YOU THINK THAT SHE COULD SURVIVE ?!?

Who will die? Lum or Ataru?

Anyways, maybe we should mix the ideas of Cata and Falling Star as a way to get a neat OVA

One thing is for sure, Lumaholics, we need to get a lot of drama and suspense in order to see Lum and Ataru getting married

You just need to know that, in that tale, the main character will be THE DEATH !!

Ataru will die because a slow and terrible death but, before that, many (BELOVED !!) characters have been already died BECAUSE OF HIM !!!

Back to the question: do you think that a dying Ataru would confess to Lamù her love once for all ?!?

Or he could find another <<way out>> like in "Boy meet Girl" ?!?

Or the shame for the sin that he committed is so big that now his punition is to fall in love just his last second of life ?!?

Ataru is an "natural born sinner": faults, errors, stupidity, nothing seems able to shake him in his deep feelings and to create the base for a SERIOUS change of life.

That's my idea: to make him feel the "load of his sins" by living unreversable events to change his soul once for all.

Beware: this doesn't mean that he will be "flat" in the future :-D
