Yes, when I come here (that's prety often) there are always guests and no members.

I have an idea, why dont you make the forum restricted to guests? This way they'll have to register to read anything here and they may start posting also.

But although I agree that a slightly more active community would definately be nice, I think the userbase in general is just too small at the moment.

I agree on the userbase being quite small. I'm working on this. Got a idea which was posted a few days ago about re-assign right to the peeps. First register and then read the posts on the forum. I don't know if this is a good idea in general but what's your opinion about this Parias?

It may lead to more users who are registered but will it raise the number of posts here?

Ok I know, Lycos Netherlands isn't doing very well on those damn adds above the pages of the forum. When using MSIE it might send you back to the mainpage of the site where the forum is located. I tried to fix this as you might have noticed on both http://www.lum-chan.com/ and http://www.lum-chan.com/

I'm still mudding around at the forum location but I'm still failing to get it migrated to the new location

I guess I have to get in touch with the guys who host the lum-chan.com domain. PHPMyAdmin is failing to gather all the data for a correct migration icon_sad.gif Maybe I have to do this in small hunks rather than taking it in one go... I'll give that a try upkoming weekend. If this should work it can be properly viewed bij peeps using MSIE instead of advising an alternative browser such as FireFox, Mozilla Suite or Opera...

Forcing registration might give a clearer idea as to who is actually active on the forum versus who might be a simple lurker, but I think it'd just be a more active discussion medium that would draw people in and encourage them to post - mandatory registration probably won't help too much in that regard in my crazy opinion.

Side note: I'm noticing a wierd problem where the "ICQ" hotlink that's supposed to go under my posts instead ends up several inches below it, hanging in the middle of the next post. Anybody else noticing this craziness? I'm using the latest version of IE.

The current forum is no longer supported and there are too many technical problems while it has been online, including that damn ads stuff this service provider is spamming at us.

I decided to use the forum mentioned above as the new forum... Need to change some things and add a few gimmicks.
Maybe a different look but as far as I can see it looks great :D

Edit: Having trouble getting my avatar working though - it seems to go okay if I choose to link it remotely, but if I try to upload it, it won't take my changes.

Edit 2: That's wierd - the off-site avatar I link works up until I pull up this thread and try to post in it, then it goes away again and I have to re-apply the setting.

As for the avatar: max size is 65x65 pixels. The resizing isn't working properly. I'm working on this and might enlarge the size to 80x80 which is more common on other boardtypes... I'll give those options another try tomorrow...

Ok I changed the max size from 65x65 to 80x80 pixels. Somehow the software won't resize it properly and I'm still missing the GD module which will do this the correct way. HTML *should* resize the avatars properly but it doesn't do this alll the tme... Hmmm maybe I should upgrade to 1.0RC2 of the software.

I'll check with support 1st...

Oh Parias, I have updated your profile and managed to get your old avatar online again. It's being serverd from the server atm
