Yeah... I'm thinking of getting into Urusei Yatsura. Takahashi does good rivalries, so I'm interested in seeing these two at work. Do they get about an equal amount of screentime?

, Well Mendo plays a more important role than Tobimaro, because ton-chan is a minor character who only has appeared in a few episodes/chapters, as for mendo, hes one of Ataru's essential main rivals,
so the answer would be: Mendo

Mendo will always be more important than Ton-chan as he has already become a vital point inda saga as friend/enemy of Ataru,besides lately tobimaro only appears if mendo is inda eppy,making him a lot dependant and thus lowering importance

Welcome to the forum! Tobimaro usually doesn't appear in UY episodes. In the begining of the Anime, Mendou didn't exist. He was introduced later. After that Mendou was one of the most important characters. Mendou take much more screentime than Tobimaro.

In all my time watching UY I never watched Mendo in dat pose,friends,it could be from an OVA and Movie,but dat is da least of our worries

Another aspect left unsolved between these 2 rich boys was that Mendo is "engaged" to Asuka,ton-chan sister while Ryoko loves ton-chan,whata mess

To me, in that Avatar isn't Mendou. If you want a real Shutaro Mendou watch UY or look for Shutaru in the forum.

As you may remember tobimaro's body guards were also serving Asuka, who didn't know men and neither her mother was willing to show him one in the improper time.
