when  i  whent  to  the  furico  website  they  had  the  meanings  for  each  of  the  main  characters  name.  What  realy  strooke  me  was  Atarus  full  name  means  "hit  by  a  falling  star".  That  name  seams  to  fit  the  story  so  well  i  laught.  RT  reraly  puts  alot  of  effort  on  the  names.

it is funny and was purposely used to show exactly how unlucky Ataru is

anyway only 1 of the stormtroopers surname and name is ever mention, that is Megane, turns out that is his surname, his real name, as mentioned in the last episode, is Satoshi, incredible how it takes til the last episode to find that out
This is Jenga lol :)

So the real name of Megane is Satoshi ?

But where and when it happens this "revelation" ?

another one: i found, sometimes ago, an article (the review was "MaNgazine", but it stopped to be published a long ago) who was saying that if you read the ideograms meanings "Ataru Moroboshi" all together means "hit by a fallen star" but if you read only the ones meaning "Moroboshi" the translation could be "FEMALE PANTIES" !!

In this way, the full translation of "Ataru Moroboshi" could be also "HIT BY A FALLEN STAR AND BY THE FEMALE PANTIES" !!

It would resume so good the "soul" of the main character  ;D

I thought Morobshi by itself for "Fallen Star" or something close to that.

what do you mean they are equal? You mean that they mean the same thing/ are the same?

Also, isn't it just spelled "Perm"?

You can't say "Perm" in Japanese I guess, because it always sounds like Perma (the same way Lum always sounds like Lamu).

As for the equals, he means those are their real names. :P

Going by Japanese phonetics, it would be, more likely, spelled "paamu"

I have a translation sheet, "er" sounds tend to change to long a's "aa" and for most consonants without a following vowel, u is add.

So "per" changes to "paa" and "m" changes to "mu"

Although this doesn't necessarily apply to all translated words. But that's have I would spell "Perm" with Katakana. It could also be "Paruma/Parumu"

It is. "Ataru" means "To hit".

Megane = Satoshi
Chibi = Akira
Perma = Kousuke
Kakugari = Hiroyuki

I also would like to know where you came up with this.

Technically, you can't say "Perma" either. Since he's named after the perm hairstyle he has, the English "Perm" is used every time I've seen it written.
Excuse me, have you seen my mind? I seem to have misplaced it...

You know, I probably should have started by saying it was an English word in my previous statement :\

Ataru is a verb XD it even ends with "ru" making him a "ru" verb lol. Actually, I shouldn't say that, it's possible that he's a u verb.

Anyone know the conjugation? It's either "Atamasu" or "Atarimasu" when u use it in a sentene, such as "he hit the ball"

I just know that Ataru Moroboshi means "get hit falling star" and I know this because of the last OVA from UY... the one about a Mendou Corp. satelite that for some reason is doing a flash back of the series...

But that doesn't matter... just keep on topic people... keep it simple... don't start with the vocabulary thing again... XD we know what happened last time you did... ;D

This is different, we all know "Ataru" is a verb and the only thing I did was ask a question, which means I have no absolute opinion. So debate cannot be issued.

UruseiNeo... I wasn't talking about your last post... it was about the other posts about Perm or Perma... LoL

When ever you and Sidzero talk about something... I get a weird feeling... that it will end in somekind of offtopic debate... ;D

Actually, I was going to leave it alone. I've got better things to do with my time than try and convince someone of something who can't be convinced of anything.
