Vocaloid song covers with human voices
« on: January 05, 2011, 08:21:17 AM »
I long planned to present this topic with covers of Vocaloid songs in Japanese only, but the most recent ones I've found got my attention so much that I'm going to show them first. Since Lum-chan has a limit of 5 videos embedded per post I will post two songs with their corresponding original.
I will try to post when I have time and whenever I feel like it or Persona 3 portable addiction wears off.

ok the first round:
watch first then read my explanation.

Rolling Girl cover

Rolling Girl original (Miku)

Mosaic Roll cover

Mosaic roll original (GUMI)

Both cover songs come from someone whose username is Nano. Interestingly his voice sounds very well that it many wonder if he was a foreigner, but he responds that he is 100% Japanese.
I always though that the Vocaloid software opens many doors for amateur composers to create their own music, watching it grow to the scale of Vocaloids having their own concert is very impressive for me.

Wow, what timing! I was just over on the Vocaforum (a nice place, by the way, mosey on over and have a look around) and listened to Nano's cover of Mosaic Roll. Don't know how close to original the translation is, but the important thing is -- IT WORKS.

VOCALOID is the single most exciting technology in music that I've ever seen. And, I've been hanging around music since I was a little boy, I've seen a LOT. And, VOCALOID is still "pure", it's still very much in the hands of the fans, it hasn't been commercialized. THAT is also very important to me.

Thanks for posting the original along with this new variation, Janus, and thanks for the other song. I will be listening to 'em tonight after work.

On the side note, if you liked the Mosaic Roll song by Deco-27 you might like this one as well

Love Lost Elegy feat. Marina
this doesn't have the "sm" in the URL so I can't embed it here so I will only give the link to it and I will provide an upload done in youtube
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1290582619

【DECO*27】愛迷エレジー feat. marina【Music Video】

If you've seen Angel Beats you will recognize the vocalist Marina is, she belongs to the group Girls Dead Monster she lent her voice for this song.

Anyways, back on topic here is my other two entries
Ggrks cover (kuia and mono)

Ggrks original (Luka and Gakupo)

a friend called hiiro showed me this video one time at skype and I asked what did "ggrks" meant, and they said it was vulgar word. and which got me worried. But what she actually meant to say it was only a slang word for "google it" even the song drops large hints of what it meant.

refuse cover (Lon)

refuse original (miku)

alright, that is all I have for you today. ;)
