The First Tsundere & First Moe
« on: May 22, 2011, 05:19:16 PM »
Was looking at the Wikipedia article on tsundere when I found this quote.

"Comiket organizer Ichikawa Koichi has described Lum Invader of Urusei Yatsura as being both the source of moe and the first tsundere; figurine sculptor Bome has also cited Lum as an inspiration for his designs."

Wow. It all begins with Lum.  :)

Lum's been hiding something? Check her bra. I mean, everyone knows that most women hide things on their bras, right? What? That only happens in Anime and TV Shows? O.o

(I'm not like those women LoL)

I read also that Kyoko Chigusa from Maison Ikkoku is also a Moe, and according what have I read, I also think that Ran is a Yandere (the opposite of Tsundere)

^ I agree with the Ran part. I haven't watched Maison Ikkoku yet.

I might agree with the idea of Lum been the first "Moe" but I think that the first (at least in a chronological manner) "Tsundere" was Sayaka Yumi from "Mazinger Z" (An Anime from 1972)

Here is a little information of Sayaka Yumi that proves her status as a Tsundere, Lumaholics

Quote
Sayaka Yumi can be considered a landmark character in the evolution of gender roles in anime. She was one of the first female characters in the genre to regularly take an active role in battles and conflicts, rather than be relegated to the sidelines once fighting began or offering non-combat support. She was strong-willed, beautiful, popular with men and good-hearted... but also brash, stubborn and tomboyish, usually hiding her attraction to Kouji by arguing with him - a far cry from the traditional Yamato Nadeshiko archetype used to write sympathetic females in anime prior to Mazinger Z. In some respects, she was virtually the prototype for the now-common "tsundere" character archetype, characterized by a more assertive attitude.

Anyways, I think it's cool to have Lum as the first Moe character
