Topic: Lum's Appeal

I've looked at different topics on here and came up to a final point. So I'm thinking because people favored Lum to be with Ataru rather than Shinobu, could it be also because just how Lum carries a lot of appeal? With episodes based on Shinobu, we see a nice, gentle side of her, but there are still things to Lum that stick out too. Or maybe its just because we always see a thing were its just two regular high school students that are together, With Lum now the main character, instead there's something different: a high school student, but an alien also. I hope this makes sense.

i would say that it fits more with Lum being with ataru just because its a weird combo hot alien princess+epic perv=funny. And i dont think the story would be as epic/funny if it was just ataru and shinobu

Well... let's see:

Ataru = most unlucky pervy 17 year old guy who happens to be ugly too

Lum = super hot alien girl who happens to be a jealous, sweet but also a little devil-ish person

Shinobu = sweet, caring girl that has no luck with men whatsoever (until Inaba appears) but that also has that amazing strenght that can lift tons of tables and such.

So, the most UNLUCKY man gets a BEAUTIFUL and SEXY woman. He's so FLIRTY and LECHEROUS but he REJECTS the woman. She doesn't give up on him so she keeps on following him and acting like his wife. It's all about playing the opposites.

I think it's like this for everyone but forgive me if this doesn't happen to you: common person < uncommon person, which means that Shinobu < Lum.

Also, if the story were about Ataru and Shinobu, it would just be another Ranma 1/2 but without the martial arts.

I'm not saying Shinobu should be with Ataru. I was just saying why I think it's Lum instead.

In a way, they remind me of Ranma and Akane. What about you?

Hum... No. I see the similarities in the story but when it comes to characters it's different. Ranma has both Lum and Ataru's characteristics. Same goes for Akane. That's why I can't really say that Ranma is just like Ataru or whatever.

But the story type is pretty much the same. Throw weird and weird together. And then, add some more weird.
