Japanese is a relatively easy language to understand. It's reading and writing it that's a bitch. Knowing when to use which alphabet, and kanji altogether... makes my head hurt.

If you want an English-language "learn Japanese" page, here's one that I looked at a year or two ago and thought was pretty good:

Personally, I prefer using the Pimsleur method. I've got the Japanese cds (expensive, too):

I hear a lot about the Rosetta Stone software method, but personally I didn't like it:

And there are always plenty of books you can pick up to teach you the language (although they lack in the pronunciation department, but that's what un-dubbed anime is for ).

I'll just stick to reading subs and trying to pick the odd work up here and there. I watch animé for enjoyment, not spending my life trying to learn an extremely difficult second (or third) language
