Someone had to start a hottest mom poll eventually, so here it is! Vote for the mom you think is the hottest.

Mrs. Moroboshi, the washed-up, miserable mother of the infamous Ataru Moroboshi.

Mrs. Mendou, the snobbish, old-fashioned mother of Shutaro and Ryoko Mendou.

Mrs. Invader, the loving and caring mother of Lum, our lovely alien.

Ran's Mother, a strict disciplinarian who frequently spanks her daughter for acts she isn't guilty of.

Ten's Mom, a firefighter who shows arsonists no mercy.

Ran-chan's mom -- her reaction to Ran-chan beaning her favorite doll with the dart was so funny! :D
Shinobu-san's mom -- I don't remember what she looks like, but I think she appeared in one episode... ???

Sakura-sensei's mom -- the lookalike of Cherry

I removed Mrs. Mizunokoji because I didn't think she was hot enough. Mrs. Miyake and Sakura's mother will not be included because they are not hot enough either. I added Jariten's mom and Ran-chan's mom.

To my taste,i would say the Oni mothers look fascinating,but alas,i can choose only one and me choice is ... Mrs. Invader cuz she looks almost da same as our beloved lum

She's also more cheerful and mentally stable than the other moms I listed. You can see where Lum got her cheerful and carefree personality.

I would normally choose Mrs Invader, but Tens mum looks really hot in the pics you provided. I like Rans mum too. Even Mrs Moroboshi has a certain endearing quality...

Anyway, I don't see Ran committing a murder. Even to her worst enemy/good friend Lum, she doesn't want to kill her as a revenge for her "taking" Rei...

Well, in the anime Ran is very independent... doesn't call her mom... no visits from parents... etc, etc... if it wasn't for the flashbacks we could almost think she was an orphan...

As far as I know, Ran's plot for revenge consisted of stealing Ataru's youth. But that doesn't mean she can take some time out of seducing Ataru by tormenting Lum-chan with exploding Ran dolls, missles, bombs, grenades, etc.

To be honest, I don't think any of the UY moms are mentally unstable. Some are strict disciplinarians, others are very old-fashioned, and others are very anti-pyromaniac.

In the episode where Ran-chan invited Lum-san to a cafe (the one with the bumbling waiter), Ran-chan said "my mother was a real strict person. I really got it when I got home." This was referring to the bedwetting incident at Lum-san's house. The key word is "was". I don't know if Ran-chan used that word because she was talking about the past or because her mother had indeed passed away. Or it could be that something was lost in translation from Nihongo to English...

Personally, I think Ran-chan's mom is fine. It's just like the situation with her father or Ten's father. They don't come up in conversation, so it's like they don't currently exist...

EDIT: Soon after Ran-chan arrives, Lum-san asks her how her mother is doing (in an attempt to distract her from getting angry). That implies Ran-chan's mother is alive. However, Ran-chan didn't respond to her question... ???

Since noone has ever died in UY, I can only conclude she is alive and well.
To coobarate this assumption, I doubt Ran would be able to view negative imagery of her mother on daily basis (As demostrated in episode 103) if she was dead. (8>

I believe that after what she suffered at the hands of her mother... she's probably affraid to go near her... I think that was one of the other reasons that she went to Earth... One was revenge on Lum the other getting as far as possible from her mother...
