Despite the fact that Lum is a member of the royal family of her home planet, she never struck me as the type of person who would come from a royal family. Her personality is completely different from Shutaro's or Ryoko's. She doesn't strike me as a spoiled little rich girl at all (we actually see her father spanking her in a flashback in one episode for using a gun). She received the same level of education as her friends, and she puts other people's feelings before her own. I'm guessing this has a lot to do with the fact that she grew up on her mother's side of the family.

I am glad that she is like that. I hate people who think that they are more important, more cool, more pure, more intelligent,... just because they are handsome or pretty or rich or powerfull or whatever.

Lum's attitude is what makes her quite popular at the UY universe,she is a character one truly loves and respects

That's why Mendou and Lum wouldn't work out as a couple. They may both be aristocrats, but Lum isn't the stereotypical spoiled rich kid. She cares about people other than herself. She knows that money and material goods can't bring you true happiness.
