I believe Senhor Dak was making a generalization about the male/female ratio here in Lum-chan-istan.

For me it was the manga - I bought one of the Viz editions back in high school, and then when I spent a summer in Japan, my host dad owned the whole series, and I started reading from the beginning.  I forgot about it for a little bit, but then when I was about to graduate from high school, I was getting really into Maison Ikkoku.  I'd rented Beautiful Dreamer and bought one of the Animeigo tapes, but still always felt UY was this obscure, if classic, series I'd never be able to get a hold of.  Nevertheless, once I'd read all the MI I could find, I thought to myself, "You know what else is a good Takahashi series? Urusei Yatsura!"  I picked up the one book I'd bought a year before, and have been hooked ever since.  UY is pure magic.

Likely random pics on geocities or something. Heard her name was Lum at some point years ago, but didn't look it up. So I had no idea about UY until last week. For now I just have the manga on my computer. Not finished with it yet. I'll get to the anime afterward.

ranma 1/2? yeah, used to own a dvd season. apparently was stolen before I got to watch the whole set.

the first time i saw lum it was in was the theme on youTube.com so i went to ask.com and typed urusei yatsura and now its my fave show!kinda werid huh!
Yeah same for me. She looked interesting, but then I saw the anime name and was thinking, what?? But I eventually got over it and realized it meant obnoxious aliens, which makes total sense.

The first see? I searched for Ranma 1/2 long time ago, because i haven't watched completed yet and the german Ranma 1/2 have only 80 of 161 episodes dubbed and the german dvd version have NOT the japanese original version with german subs. So i found the Ranma 1/2 OVAs on the internet and later the It's a Rumic World Opening, because there was a new Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha OVA in production. I saw Lum first in the It's a Rumic World Opening, but nobody of German users knows the name of the series, but that wasn't really interested in the beginning.

Later 2009 i saw the trailers of the new Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha OVA and just i was interested of the "unknown" ova, but i found out, because someone wrote in the German wiki article of Ranma 1/2 some points about Urusei Yatsura. I found the new ova trailer of Urusei Yatsura and that was the point, since that i really like that. I watched some episodes on youtube, the plots are really better than ranma 1/2, later i bought dvds, because i'm not the user, who watched them all illegaly in the internet, the video quality was really bad that and found some special offer of the first two french Urusei Yatsura DVD Boxsets for only 9.99 Euro per 26 episodes. The problem was only the dvds are only with french subtitles and haven't french knowledges, but this is not the problem, i load the english subtitle files (not the video) and put them on the DVD :D.

Urusei Yatsura is the first anime, who i get the dvds from many countries, since Germany haven't this: France, United Kingdom, United States, Italy, Spain and Japan and the anime they watched generally in Japanese dub. Since that i liked more the way to watched the japanese dub and for me it is really interesting about the comparsion of the german and japanese Ranma 1/2 or Inuyasha.

I saw Lum for the first time when it aired on Portugal around 2004... from 2004 until now, I'm still a Lum addicted

And thanks to Lum to make me discover anime like Ranma or Maison Ikkoku  :)

I've seen her a few times before I even knew who she was. I actually totally forgot how I became a fan of the series, but it was sometime in May I think.

On episode 1 of Urusei Yatsura on youtube and I watched the entire show on there. It was the first anime I watched since Pokemon and Digimon, Pokemon when I was a child. I found out what anime was because I read Pokemon World magazine. That got me to watch a bit of Ranma 1/2. I want to buy Ranma 1/2 on DVD but I can't because it hasn't been licensed in the Europe.

I first saw posters of Lum in various store windows while on a business trip to Japan back in the summer of 1986.  I didn't know her name, but noticed there seemed to be posters and pictures of that green-haired girl everywhere!

And then a year or so later, a friend loaned me some of his Nth generation video tapes of the UY anime.... and I could have kicked my own butt for not getting any of those posters.

I first saw Lum while rummaging through videos at my grandmas house. I found all 6 Urusei Yatsura movies and always thought the green haired girl looked interesting. It was several years later though when I decided to search it up. I watched Only You and Beautiful Dreamer before realising it was originally a TV series. So I watched episode 1 on YouTube, got addicted, and here I am now with 195 episodes, 6 movies and 11 OVAs watched, planning to watch the last one tonight and then I'll have finished Urusei Yatsura :(
Fanfic - still in planning stage! XD

UY is the best show ever!
