UY challenge: Can anyone ID this picture?
« on: October 21, 2005, 06:49:50 PM »
Are there any experts who know what this image was used for? In other words was it a wallpaper, poster, cd, dvd, laserdisc, magazine cover, etc? This must be one of the rarest images I've seen of Lum - I've only seen it a few times on the net, but none offer clues about where it came from. Thanks!

Even a montage is based on some real drawings but I haven't seen any of the pieces. I can't even ID lum in that exact pose and I've gone through thousands of images. Have you seen a matching background or image of Lum anywhere?

The background is made of lum comics.
It doesnt mean that it is a page it can very well be one pick of each comic.
Abaut lum........Duno
But there are a lot of picks that i found and i have never seen lum in that pose so.....
It also could be a draw

It seems to me a perfect promotion of DVD launch of the episodes...the characters of background image are drawn in the anime style, not manga's...and Lum herself seems a quite recent draw! :P

...but I have no clues about it, it's only my impression! :&

Out of sheer frustration, I'm looking in each of the individual auctions here in Japan.

http://search.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/search?sb=desc&desc=%a4%a6%a4%eb%c0%b1&auccat=0&acc=jp&apg=12&f=0x52&o1=a&alocale=0jp&mode=1

I *know* this is real, but I just can't find where it was used... but it's got to be here somewhere.

I made that!!!!! LoL Jking
Thats a very good example of Fan Art of some guy, since the background is full of almost all about females that apears in the Lum manga and anime.

But thats only my 2 cents on the subject.... :&

Actually, I have a pretty good idea who made it so I'm 99% sure it's not fan art. What I don't know is *what* it was used for.

8|LoL you must be jking right?... If you have a good idea of who made it go ask him what it was used for or do you think we're some kind of private detectives and will find it out for you??? :&

Yeah, I should have remembered that the reknowned manga artists and character designers in Japan will indulge every Otaku's whim.  :&

If I hear a song that sounds like the Beatles, someone tells me it's the Beatles, and the instrumentals sound like they were done in a studio, I can be pretty sure it's not an amateur and highly like it's the Beatles. That doesn't mean Paul McCartney will track down the label or album, unless my name is Ringo.

Besides, it's not as if I'm not looking. I estimate 5,000 to 10,000 pix by now and counting. I'm open to the detective idea though.

How about a bounty instead? First person to find a photo that shows what the picture was used for gets a reward. Just to be clear, I'm not looking for the picture (doh!). I'm looking for either a picture of the item, or a web site that sells the item showing the pic (online web, auction listing, etc). Any interest?

Anyway, good luck, and when you find out what it was used for tell us  ;)
