Remember that episode where Lum kind of "blackmails" Ataru into taking her out on a date by stealing his "girls' phonebook" (manga version: telling him she won't lend him her calculator anymore)?

I remember clearly that in that one Perma (which is Kosuke in the manga) is out with the "bottomless pit" girl, and the two observe that Ataru & Lum break every single social rule: they act like they're married - but they're not - and even though they've lived together for a long time, it was their first date.

A marriage would be likely, but still... I believe Takahashi would have them live as oddly as before, with Ataru chasing girls & Lum zapping him (as in one of Inaba's futures)

if you have watched the series and watched there the relationship of ataru and lum, you see that ataru is realizing what lum means to him. Ataru needs lum more then any other girl, he may be depressed if one of his favourite girls but he would eventually move on, this is not the case with lum, if she disappears then he would lose his mind. Also, the last episode was the first time he kissed her for real and he wasn't fighting back, but of course he wouldn't do it in public, but he is moving closer to lum. I think the only thing that is holding ataru back is his fear, fear of expressing himself, fear of lum taking things the wrong way and fear of public aggression(Mendo and stormtroopers)

Ataru will definitely marry lum, it just might take awhile to express his love publicly

Lum and Ataru have almost got married so many times in the anime,however Lum wont give up,she has a lot of patience and ammo to get ataru,love is a battlefield but indeed they will end up married,they have more chances than any other unmarried anime couple
