I'll commit sacrilege  here.  Uy is my second favorite anime my favorite is slayers!  The tv series dubbed in english by Software sculptors.  It's the show that got me into anime and I've never found a replacement for it.  Lum is the hottest anime chick and Uy is my second favorite anime.

I tend to jump around a whole bunch of different offerings as they pop up - currently, however, I'm closely following the releases of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, which is a surprisingly well done series. Definately worth digging up for any fans of the first major movie release.

Also, there's this other anime series (not UY) that Rumiko Takahashi had a hand in which I enjoy to some extent, but I'll leave the precise designation of that series to someone else's clever and deductive guesswork. *Cough*

There are a ton of great anime to choose from. Makes choosing a "favorite" almost a mountain of a task. Of course all of the Takahashi anime is great, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma 1/2, InuYasha. Rumic Theater is also pretty good, although I'm not sure if that's what the english version is called. Beyond Takahashi's stuff, two of my all time favorites are old ones called Outlanders and Robot Carnival, neither of which I have been able to find on DVD. Project A-Ko is also another great one, although I enjoyed the original much more than Project A-Ko: Love & Robots and Project A-Ko Uncivil Wars: Battles 1 Grey and 2 Blue.

Azumanga Daioh is a fairly recent series that has a strange "charm" to it. Maybe it's the shows sense of humor or it's memorable cast.

For ACTION you just can't beat any of the Mazinger series like Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, and Mazinkaiser. I'm a huge fan of the older style animation and the way a lot of action series would have their characters "announce" their attacks.

PHOTON BEAM!

The series that I've watched and rewatched the most though would have to be Big O. I don't know what it is about it that is so interesting, but I just never get tired of watching it. The plot makes almost no sense to me whatsoever, but the animation is beautiful and the action is top notch.

Well i do have another anime series that i like.... the second one i think is evangelion, it's great too, but lum sure is best!!

i've only read the 1st 5 books of evangelion and i must say that they are pretty darn good :D
