Leaving on Tuesday!! Destination: Japan!
« on: August 29, 2011, 05:03:05 AM »
So ya, as the title implies, I shall be leaving for Japan on Tuesday and I shall be gone for a full 11 months! xD
This is like a dream come true for me since I have been waiting for an opportunity such as this for literally years (I think 5 or 6 years).
But do not fear, I shall still post on here every now and then and the only differences will be the time zone change and my English will continually get worse as I only use Japanese. (I had to ask my family how to pronounce the word "ache" the other day 0.0)
This will also put me in the opportune position to get some Urusei Yatsura goods x3

... my English will continually get worse as I only use Japanese. (I had to ask my family how to pronounce the word "ache" the other day 0.0) ....

I know that feeling. About a year ago, I was driving by a billboard which advertised a McDonalds coffee drink and mentally mis-pronounced the one-word caption as "mo-cha" (Exccccelent, excccelent, the re-programming is taking hold!).

Bon voyage and Good Luck in Japan, Swizzle!

By-the-way (and I know I asked you this same thing over on KeyAniFans): WHERE in Japan will you be?

Haha thanks everybody for wishing me good luck and safe travels.
I have arrived in Japan safely and am currently in the airport. I'll get to the dorm I'll be staying in tomorrow and it is in Tokyo in Setagaya-ku. Will keep you guys updated with how I'm doing and everything. I'm a tad tired though. 13 hour flight leaving at 3pm america time and arriving in Japan at 6pm so I haven't slept in 20 hours or so since I didn't sleep at all on the plane (was gonna sleep a tad at the beginning but ended up not cause they served food right away and didn't wanna go to sleep and risk getting jetlagged). And I plan on staying awake for at least 3 more hours today so I go to bed when it's actually a reasonable bed time xP

I haven't been up to a whole lot. I do a lot of exploring and meeting new people. The food is amazing here! I've gotten a TON of games and I go to my classes each week. I'm just enjoying Japan while I'm here. xP

Also, didn't know about OLM Studio. Maybe I'll try and find it xP

The studio Ghibli museum is just under an hour from there, not sure if foreigners can buy tickets in the country though, to get the  time, costs, routes and distances and different ways of getting there type in setagaya to studio ghibli musuem, not sure if the  . You cannot park at the museum and I'm not sure if the exhibits are in English.
What classes do you go to and what games have you got?

I've actually already been to the Studio Ghibli Museum. It was pretty awesome. Lots of great stuff in there, including a life-size replica of the robot from Laputa as well as a short film that can only be seen there featuring Mai from Totoro and the Neko Bus. It was a lot of fun.
I've got Japanese classes, Japanese Culture, Sumi-E (black and white painting), Intercultural Communication, and Linguistics.
As for what games I've bought, I've gotten over 200 for retro systems including Twin Famicon, Super Famicon, PS1, Sega Mega Drive, and Sega Saturn. I've also gotten some PS3 and DS games. I'm not going to list them all since there's so many but one game I've been playing on the DS that's just amazing is Ni no Kuni. It's probably the best RPG I've ever played.

Ni no Kuni is a Miyazaki based anime correct? If so it has been announced for the PS3. I don't recall the release date but it does look awesome!
You must be having a great time over there!  :)

Ni no Kuni isn't Miyazaki, but it is Studio Ghibli and yes it has been announced for PS3 for overseas release. xD
And ya, Japan is amazing! I'm loving it over here! xD

How long are you in Japan for you've been there a while already right?

I'll be in Japan until the end of July and I've been there since September.
I am currently in the US for the week though to celebrate the holidays with my family (and to bring home 2 suitcases full of stuff that I bought over there) xP
