Topic: Gurren Lagann HQ/HD Downloads

my group has recently decided on making a GL Abridged series.

What we need is HQ or HD episodes (not sure which is supposed to be better).

The problem is, I can't seem to find them.  All I can find are torrents for episodes that are avi BUT HAVE SUBTITLES or mkv fromat, which can have the subtitles removed through converting but that ends up lowering the quality.

Any suggestions?

if it is a mkv format, Use MKVExtractGUI2. You can extract the video and audio stream without reencoding.

extracting wasn't the problem.

If I found in mkv, converting it to a usable format would decrease the quality

If it was a usable format, it was subbed and I couldn't remove the subs.

Will this program work? (or How?)

What is the codec of the video stream in the MKV file and what do you need as usable codec?

and the editing software I use just doesn't accept mkv is all, so it will always need to be converted to something like avi or mp4 (though I noticed some problems with mp4, I can work around them)

If your program can only not open MKV file, then:

Put the extracted streams into mp4 with Yamb:

"Click to create an MP4 file with multiple audio, video, subtitle and chapter streams" and then select the extracted streams to create a mp4 file.

I'd like to try it out now, but I have school soon, and my days will be busy until thursday, so I'll ask a few questions first :D

- Will using this NOT affect the quality of the video?
- Any chance it also converts to avi? not important, but the mp4 bug... bugs me XD (if I play the video, it freezes, but I can still use the video for editing but cutting it up and stuff, which is normally what I need to do anyway, playing the video is just one way to find the spot I need to cut at)
- There's 3 different yamb's to download, which one should I download?
- Anything else I should know?

No, because the video codec will not changed.

The problem on avi files: Container has many limitations, see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Video_Interleave#Continued_use

Short: If the video codec is x264 with variable bitrate, then you have a problem with avi, it doesn't support variable bitrates.

It's not like I really need the audio if I'm using these for abridging, though.

It figures.... right after I get this program going, I find a set of HQ, Raw, AVI format episodes....... I can still use this program though, as some of the episodes and movies are in mkv format.

Sorry i mean, are you video program support including custom audio streams? i think yes, because you write you make a custom audio for abridging.

my editing program? It can hold 1 voice track and 3 music tracks (ie it can hold 4 sound tracks)

but that's not the problem, after conversion, the mp4 file doesn't have sound itself, it's mute, it's gone, it was removed for some reason during conversion from mkv (though I had the audio checked)

If the mp4 doesn't have sound, it doesn't matter what program I put it in, it will never have sound.

What I'm trying to do right now is take the audio from a low quality version of the same episode/movie and place it on the audio track of my editor, then put the video track of the HQ version (that refuses to have sound by itself) on the video track.

My editor doesn't seem to ruin the quality of the clips it uses to make videos, so it should be as simple as lying the two tracks down and pressing "create video" but I'm having some alignment issues, they two tracks don't seem to coincide timeline wise so I have to adjust the speed of the video to match the audio it goes with.

And for movies, that's a pain in the ass because it takes 5 hours to create the video.
