A company that profits from anime streaming.
« on: July 18, 2010, 05:06:12 PM »
Cruncyroll.com, a company that makes a profit from streaming anime has finally broken even. More companies are looking at profiting from streaming anime. I think we should follow Marzgurl's advice and watch anime on this site to let the anime companies that we are interested and that streaming is a profitable option. Crunchyroll profits from anime streaming by advertising and charging people premium membership to get shows earlier and access to exclusive anime, the latter of which has a free trial period. I don't get it...
Is this an article (no source) or just shameless publicity?

Anyway, considering I'm a member of a forum where we discuss daily releases, being one week behind isn't really for me...
And I'm not about to pay for something I can get legally (since most shows surely aren't licensed in my country).
Signatured postponed until I cba to make a new one. x.x

It would really attract more Forum visitors but it would take a long time for "our" website to be able to compete against other streaming websites. Also, I think that streaming websites get proffit from advertisements, which annoys me (Stop popping up! I wanna watch Anime, not your game or survey's!!!)

True that publicity is annoying, but I'd rather have that then a payed membership like Crunchyroll does. >_<

I agree, Kroptik. My point was that ads make websites profit.

The funny thing is that I see Crunchyroll as a very successful web site... from its shady beginnings to the capitalist money making machine they are now even with the current economic fears they still manage to get new subscribers.

Obviously I wouldn't pay for it... but that's because I'm a rebel... a pirate... of the Internet streaming... ocean... I'm not troubled by licensing issues... and like Kroptik said:

"It is said that only a fool learns from his own mistakes, a wise man from the mistakes of others."-"A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing."
I wonder which one is true!?
