Asian DVD Club has the first batch (volumes 1-25) as a golden torrent until April 5th (I was really late jumping on this one, sorry). These are in untouched Video_TS format and fit nicely on DVD5s.

One of our members has the entire collection and is seeding it indefinitely due to the sporadic nature of previously released torrents; since it was made golden it still has around 44 seeders (last I checked). The first batch is 102 GB and contains volumes 1-25; the second set will be released soon and will contain the remaining television volumes. The third and final batch will contain the movies and whatever else came with the series (I only discovered this wonderful anime recently). Disregarding ratio problems...there it is. :D I thought the members here would be especially interested in this batch, so I made an account to spread the word.

Essentially these folders are exact copies of the retail DVDs; they were ripped into video_ts folders (file structure used by DVDs if you didn't know) instead of the standard ISO image format (you can play video_ts folders on your computer using VLC or you can burn the folder directly to a DVD5 and it works just as normally as if you had rented it...if you need help using VLC I'm more than happy to help via PM). Here's the data that came with the torrent...let me know if that answers your question, I'm not quite sure what specifically you're looking for. The tracker is private, but it's not on an invite basis (yet) and you can sign up without any trouble.

Plot or synopsis The series begins when aliens from the planet Oniboshi invade Earth. They agree to leave only if Earth's champion can defeat the Oni champion in a game of tag within a ten-day time limit. Earth's champion, randomly selected by the aliens, is Ataru Moroboshi, a Japanese teenager with highly overactive hormones. The alien competitor turns out to be the curvaceous Lum, so Ataru relishes the idea of having to catch this beauty. However, his attitude changes when he discovers that Lum can fly. When things start looking desperate for the Earth, Ataru's girlfriend, Shinobu offers to tie the knot if he succeeds, and on the last day, when he finally catches Lum, he declares his intentions to be married. Lum misunderstands this as a proposal and eagerly agrees, since she has become smitten with Ataru. He tries to disengage himself, but Lum is adamantly faithful and demonstrates a willingness to use her natural ability to generate electric shocks to keep her "husband" in line. Later in the series continuity, Lum and some of her alien friends become more-or-less regular residents of Tomobiki and interact with the natives, who are interesting in their own right. Urusei Yatsura is unique for its premise, its immense cast of characters, and its free-for-all, anything-can-happen attitude. Too bad they can't get away with this on American TV.

Uploader's Comments: For some reason the previous uploads of this series were very sporadic, and are all currently unseeded. A classic series like this deserves better.

I will be re-releasing this series on no particular schedule in a series of three torrents. The first (this one) contains volumes 1-25, the second will contain volumes 26-50, and the third will contain all the movies and OVAs.

The best part? For as long as it's viable, I'm keeping this on permanant share. That means, no need to feel guilty about downloading something this hopelessly large and not being able to help seed it. :-P

Yeah; he'll be releasing the movies in a third torrent later on as well though.

I can't stand youtube or any of the fansub types (when I did watch fansubs it was only in the .mkv or .ogg format), so I always get the actual DVD copy. Very nice to sit in the dark and watch anime in its intended glory.

Japanese only audio; the English dub by Animeigo was only for a couple episodes and poorly done so they decided to ditch them from the main release. Subtitles in English and...mores code, created from the English subs. I guess the latter was a joke of some sort...but it's there.

[/end sarcasm]It's not that I don't care about giving credit where it's due, but not everybody can afford a nearly $400 set of DVDs from the vendor. If you don't want links, I won't share any more. You know what Sid? If it wasn't for piracy, I wouldn't watch 100% UY or any other anime! I'm thankfull that people actually care about others.

I wouldn't have even known about the series had it not been for the person sharing their collection...and some day when I do have the money I'll probably buy the collection anyway. There's just something...sentimental. ..about owning the genuine discs. I guess the box/disc art etc.

Hmm... I already have the mkv files that contain both the subs so I guess this DVD thing wouldn't benefit me much.

I could use all the episodes I have on my computer and make DVDs myself ^_^

But not to sell, that would require the effort of making multiple copies.

I could have sworn that somewhere it was decided that we weren't allowed to post links to pirate files on this site, and that people who join for that sole purpose are considered spammers. Those who live in glass houses shouldn't cast stones. The moderator is just as much a person as you or I; I'd rather they tell the truth than spew bologna about how "piracy is terrible and you should feel eternally guilty for the indelible sin you have committed."

Most rules are written for the purpose of deniability in the extremely unlikely case that somebody were to post something illegal (note that links are *not* illegal); on that note, moderators have the responsibility, like a judge, to interpret the rules in a way they see fit. If everybody went strictly by the rules, it'd be like California where after three felonies you go straight to jail for the rest of your natural life. Did you know that shoplifting in California can earn you a felony conviction?

Oh, I've no interest in hearing such bile spewed, either. However, moderators are supposed to be the authority around these parts, you'd think if ANYONE were to obey the rules, and see to it that they were obeyed by others, it would be them. That's why moderators exist.

And yes, I'm well aware of three strikes laws. I think it's pointless to complain about such things, as well, because if you willingly commit a crime, and you know it's a crime, you should also be willing to accept whatever punishment is given for that crime. Three strikes laws exist to make penalties heftier for repeat offenders. Crime is bad enough in this country that such laws became necessary, though when you factor in the fact that crime is our culture, you can see why it was necessary.

What we have here,ladies and gentlemen,is a rare (but not uncommon) case of having problems of defining wrong and right.Lets consider the following:

- UYF has posted some links leading to UY episodes as way to help this growing community to get in touch with the marvelous masterpiece known as Urusei Yatsura

- Posting links to licensed anime is forbidden at this forum and the moderators (one of them is yours truly) should keep the "law" around here

- Urusei Yatsura is no longer licensed on the United States of America,therefore there is no real crime by downloading the video files that were ripped from the American DVDs

- These files may not be ripped from the American DVDs

- Most lumaholics here do not have the chance/money to buy the real deal and most of them must resort to downloading

- Rumiko Takahashi does not use the Internet

In a final analysis,there is no true answer to what is right or wrong,all of this is a cycle that knows no end

Anyways,I will allow the links to remain considering that UYF is probably doing this to help us lumaholics and not because of personal glory (I just hope I do not regret this choice of mine)
