"It's a Rumic World"
« on: September 30, 2008, 06:11:51 AM »
Heres some info and articles i found regarding the Rumiko Takahashi event, called- "Its a Rumic World".
Two OVAs or special eps were released, one of Ranma 1/2, "Nightmare! The Incense of Spring Sleep", and one of Inu Yasha, "Black Tessaiga" ("Kuroi Tessaiga").

But sadly no Urusei Yatsura OVA, special episode or anything was released or announced.

Heres an article from Furinkan with total coverage of the event-
http://www.furinkan.com/features/articles/itsarumicworld.html

Here are some articles regarding the Ranma 1/2 and Inu Yasha releases-
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-07-09/new-inuyasha-short-to-debut-at-tokyo-takahashi-event

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-08-02/new-ranma-short-debuts-at-takahashi-tokyo-event

But there was a special opening trailer or intro featuring the characters of Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2 and Inu Yasha-
http://www.youtube.com/v/kf953nWYSlA&hl=en&fs=1
http://www.youtube.com/v/eO52uxW4pcQ&hl=en&fs=1 (with subtitles)

Im beginning to wonder if an UY movie or OVA will be released anytime soon or not.
I really hope so, but luck doesnt seem to be on our side.

So, any thoughts regarding this event, and what not?

Go back  and re-read the quote about the new Urusei Yatsura epiosde (originally brought to us by Uncle Giovane from a recent trip to Furinkan.com):

New Urusei Yatsura Episode
A new episode of Urusei Yatsura was made with the intention of showing it at the It's a Rumic World event. The episode wasn't finished in time for the gallery show, but it will tour Japan and was directed by vetern UY director Tsukasa Dokite. It will soon be going on a nationwide tour to Sendai, Niigata, Nagoya, Kyoto, and Takamatsu. Thanks to Toshio for the news! Source: Tsukasa Dokite's Messageboard

That news story is still on Furinkan's site so I don't think it was posted in error.

if yer trying to say that its going to be released later, than i dont disagree or disbelieve that. and ive read it before, and also believe that if its really so, a UY ep maybe released.

But im sad that nothing was released on UY at this event, and also if a tour or release of UY or any other Rumiko anime/manga were to be, than they wud've atleast announced so or make mention of it, or atleast they should have if it Is true. But i dont think they did, so its not even official, sadly, even if its on Dokite's messageboard.

But i really do hope so, that it happens, soon.

Normally, I'd say that Ataru has survived worse or something like that but really... Ranma + InuYasha's attacks are on a whole nother level.

74. Is there a God?

Rumiko: No

I find that a little offensive. But I'm offended by the person who asked that question cause it's like her reply would be the absolute truth.

He COULD have asked "Do you think there is a god?"

That would mean her answer is her opinion but the original sounds like her answer is fact.

Must have very good memories of that place... LoL

About the God thing... She's japanese... they have temples for hundreds of "Gods"... And maybe she isn't Catholic or Christian...

Btw, from some of her answers it looks like she doesn't like being around to many people... just a small group of friends... and the rest she avoids...

I wonder which one is true!?

Thanks for the link, TooCool. Interesting to actually hear her speak (I'd read somewhere that she was an alto...).

As for her more provocative answers to the Hundred Questions: the yes-or-no format forbids a more nuanced answer to a given question. Too bad -- I'd like to see a few of those topics explored more deeply.

New  news  about  the  new  urusei  yatsura  ova

"October 22nd
New UY Episode Finally Finished
Tsukasa Dokite, the director of the new Urusei Yatsura OVA, has announced via his blog that after many delays the special is finally finished and ready for release. Initially Dokite estimated the special would take 16,000 drawings to complete, but the finished product worked out to around 17,600, though he admits he is baffled about why it required more. No word on release dates unfortunately. Thanks to Frogisis for the news! Source: Tsukasa Dokite's Messageboard "
