I've been thinking about Lum & Ataru relationship and we have seen both as babies, chibis, teenagers, 17 year-olds and as adults. But we haven't seen them as retired old people. I think it would be interesting to think how would they look like and how their relationship is. For example, in Portugal is common to see a old couple walking together hand in hand, kissing each other and sitting together in a park bench in the streets and in the parks. It's so cute. Do you think that Ataru and Lum would have this kind of behaviour when they became old? Or will Ataru do his girl-hunt with the young and pretty ladies? Remember that in his childhood and adolescence he had this amazing stamina, speed, determination, lust and girl-hunt. But when Ataru is an adult he acts as a responsible man and father. How about Lum? She has always been clumsy and sweet. I don't think that she would change too much.

well if your talking old age then i would think lum will out live Ataru, probably die of a heart attack, probably caused by damage to his heart from Lum's constant electric attacks and the amount of fast food he ate, also i think Ataru will have a long and painful old age, he will probably almost crippled by arthritis and muscle decay caused from he constant beatings
wow i really want Ataru to die hehe
Anyway as i was saying, everything that happens to you in your youth will show up later on in life(this is why i'm not worried about eating fast food now, enjoy life now and dont an old cripple man in the future, just die) so Ataru will definately show alot in his old age
There is also the fact that alien technology can heal alot of his old age pains, so i think if ataru can live psat the age of 50, he and Lum will show there love for each other every day of the lives because they both know they wont be together forever
Here is a funny thought i had, imagine this:
Lum and Ataru, age 100 or so, sitting on a porch, reminissing over old times, then Ataru has a heart attack, Lum points her finger at Ataru and shocks him, restarting his heart
Ataru: Thank you Lum
Lum: That's the third one this month, you really should get that looked at
Ataru: look at what?
Lum: What?
Ataru: Ah forget it
One final note: good relationships happen with good fights, so with all the fighting that Lum and Ataru do they should have a loving relationship later in life

Fascinating although kinda strange theory,forgotten,anyways you are right regarding that ataru wont outlive Lum without technology assistance,we humans werent made to live forever
Besides that,i imagine him girl hunting in his late years even when his wife doesnt look as old as him (who knows,maybe the Uru Onis age in a slow rate)
Even if Lum youth hadnt dissapeared in her more old years,i bet she will still be in love with ataru,even if he looks al wrinkly,some things dont change or at least change a little

Nice theory, Forgotten. I can't imagine Ataru or Lum dead. When I think of it, it's just to weird to be weird... WOW... weird phrase.

In the series in the 95th episode Lum and Ataru are old and in that episode Ataru didn't have lost is girl-hunt skills.

You also get to see older versions of Lum and Ataru in the old folktale about the elderly couple who meet a raccoon in "Can the Raccoon Return the Favor?". In the folktale scene, Lum ends up getting whacked and impersonated by the raccoon. Ouch. >_<

But that was a story. It wasn't a glimpse of their future.

But at least it gave us an idea of what they might look like as senior citizens. Lum had only a few wrinkles, if I remember correctly.

It may show Lum's and Ataru's aspect, but it won't show us their real lifes at that time.

that tale is missing one crucial fact, lum isn't an alien, that can make a big difference in how they will turn out in the future, they really didnt have to use lum and ataru in that tale

I can't really imagine Ataru and Lum too old... But then again, the human body is made to last 250 years (yes, this is true), so with alien technology, Ataru might reach those. xD

I always cry in that episode because it's the last one.

That's right. When I watch the last episode of every series (all of them) I just think that it's the last one. There is no more. It's the end. I just feel so sad and I just start crying. Even if the last episode is full of comedy, I can't help it.

Many good series make the fans cry in the last episode.
If after the ending of the last episode of any series said anything thing that would might be a continuation that would be great. Some series have done it.

There are some episodes where Ataru imagines how would be his life with Lum. I don't know for sure what episodes does this happen, but it was really fun! :D

Rumiko's series make this feelling especially UY. There isn't a main story but different stories that enjoys the fans.
Offtopic: For the portuguese fans around here if you turn on the Tv to the AXN Channel at 12:45 am of today you will gonna see another Rumiko's masterpiee Inuyasha.

The good thing is that we can watch the series whenever we want to because thanks to the "advanced" technology that we have.

UY is to me a perfect Anime. I love that feeling that UY makes people feel..That feeling of a perfect Anime but so perfect that we just want more and more, and never get tired of it. ;)

Bringing the connection between the two pervs, I think that the only way to kill Ataru is by taking away his fuel which are girls, it would be interesting to see how it turns out XD

Unfortunately,ataru's lust is a needed thing in the UY universe,just imagine what would have happened if ataru never acted as a pervo

Now that we are on the old age aspect,i do recall that in the Inaba OVA when Lum spots her future self,she gets astonished that she married Rei and that her face is unrecognizable
I wonder why been that Tiger-Bull's wife had 2 change her face,ataru looked the same to me
