Title: Need some help!
Post by: Kroptik on August 22, 2007, 08:37:10 PM
Well guys I'm back. I wish I could tell more right now but I'm on my way to my aunt's birthday party.

But before I go, I want to ask you guys a favor...

I need someone to go to this website (http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en) and download the firefox installed, then zip it with Winrar, upload it somewhere and post the link here. If you have no place to upload at least keep it and I'll ask it later through MSN.

I'll explain the rest later, cos I'm in a hurry. See ya guys in a bit.

Thanks for the help Cosmic, but apparently it isn't working the way i wanted it to.

The thing is, my motherboard got fried like a week ago, that's why I haven't been on. And they reinstalled my Windows, but I'm having download problems with any .exe file (they all come out corrupted :-\). I thought it was an IE problem, that's why I asked for Firefox, but I can't download stuff anyway.

Oh well, at least Firefox works...

Oh one more thing: I'm only staying for a couple days, because Sunday morning I'm going on holidays, meaning I won't be on again for three weeks probably... :-\

Well, I fixed that problem. Apparently I was using the wrong port for my internet cable (I was suppose to use the motherboard incorporated one, wasn't used to it since i have a seperate card). At least I could download all the stuff I wanted and my internet isnt funny anymore. ;D

But I found another problem. :-\
My computer seems to be at a constant 50% CPU usage, which kinda scares me. I don't want this motherboard to last a month only... If anyone has any tips let me know. :P

One more thing. I'm making use of the situation to say goodbye to everyone. I'm going on holydays this sunday, but I'm not sure I can post tomorrow. I'll have internet there for sure, but it doesn't mean I can come to the forums (my cousin loves Counter-Strike, so he's always using his computer. :P) I'll try to come though, so you might see me around.

:W Bye guys, and enjoy the rest of the holidays (for most). :W

the 50% cpu usage, might be loads of programs running in background.

check via taskmanager what is causing that. also, make sure to run one good firewall like zonealarm, one proper antivirus, ass anty_spywaare programs like lavasoft adaware, and spybot search and destroy.

do not forget to update them regularly, as to make system scan with them.

also make regular scandisks and defrag.

Well try and have all that working at the same time... that would probably pass the 50% usage... LoL

Huh... I was talking about Krop computer... he already has 50% usage... wit all the other progs you mention... that would go over 50% easy...

but kropman might be running some "bad processes" in his computer.
anyway, his problems aren't normal...

Kropman, you are cursed! you lost Lum to Ataru, and your computer is gaining live against you!!! :o

Actually...I did check for viruses and spyware (found a few trojans with Spybot S&D, but I deleted them). And I don't have any bad processes in my task manager, so that's not that problem.

I'm going to reinstall Windows when I get back home. If that doesn't work, I'll just re-replace the motherboard. :P

I wonder what things could be achieved by that, spankstorm, how about a detailed list?

but kropman might be running some "bad processes" in his computer.

SandStorm's advice: "Having problems? Solve them spanking!"

Are you gonna write a book of the different ways to spank-fix,sand?

Yeah, but my CD-Rom drive was already replaced, as well as my internet and sound card, and my motherboard (twice). And the computer isn't 3 years old yet. :-\

I hate those computers that are always with something wrong. A few years ago, I had one that every 3 months the anti-virus didn't work properly. So, I had viruses all the time and my familly spent a lot of money to solve the problem.

my good old toshiba laptop, nearly 6 years, and with one optimized XP installation, runs faster than when it had the millenium xD
the secret: nLite

this proggy allows you to 'shrink' the xp, my cd is only 150mb, rather than the almost 500mb. i've cut many stuff i don't need, like the 10mb's of graphic drivers my lappy don't use, and many more stuff.

Well, I reisntalled Windows already (I returned yesterday :P) and my CPU usage is still at 50%, though I think I know the reason.

This new motherboard has an on-board graphics card, which I didn't have in the old one. I'm guessing that is the problem, because of 2 reason:
-The system idle process is always at a high CPU value (meaning that part isn't used)
-I was playing a Nintendo 64 rom on an amulator, and the emulator detects CPU usage. It says that core was at 34% and video around 15%.

Still, I'd like a confirmation on this, if you know, guys...
