Title: How much isn't covered in the anime?
Post by: nebbo on June 14, 2007, 06:04:59 PM
I've only read up to vol.3 of the manga yet, (I've seen everything animated)
and I was wondering how much would be new to me? I'm only asking for
a rough estimate.

If memory serves me right, there are no unanimated stories in the manga, there are, of course, a few changes but nothing new

Apparently the 80% of the manga went to the animated series and the rest went as the OVAs,Movies and Specials

Urusei Yatsura is one of the few sagas of Rumiko Takahashi that is almost complete, unlike ranma and inuyasha

Answer me this then, how much of the anime is original? I'm wondering
especially about Beautiful Dreamer, I can't imagine that without Megane
and the rest. Lum the forever is obvious, but what about the other
movies and the series?

I still can't believe they didn't adapt the story about the ghost horse at the beach into an episode. The horse's facial expression when he saw his owner (who was now an old woman) is one of the funniest scenes from the manga. You have to see it. It's pure gold! :D)

So there's atleast one unanimated story, that's not what I was told!  :P
It surprised me that Only You is original, it really feels like UY. I guess that
means they did a good job. Anyway thanks for the answers.

I watched all of the anime and there is quite a bit more unanimated stories in the manga, and a lot of them have been altered so I would read it.

When I started reading the manga after watching the anime, I began to wish that the stormtroopers with detailed characters were in the manga instead of being nameless figures. I especially missed Megane, he was a devious maniac with left leanings and a great character.
