This is one of the most funny episodes that I ever seen. Episode 56 - "We'll Risk Our Lives During ClassTime"
First, starts with the pitfull life of Onsen-Mark at home and at school.
Going to school Onsen-Mark tells to Ataru, Megane and the rest of the Stormtroopers that if they talk they will have detention.
Then Jariten appears and start to figth with Ataru.
Ataru and friends defeat Jariten with a barrage of snowballs, so Jariten seek to take revenge in the classroom. The rest of the episode it's a batlle agains't Jariten and to not talk during the classtime.

This episode officially made me hate Jariten. In the end, he blew up the classroom and part of the school, completely disregarding the fact that he not only would be harming Ataru and the stormtroopers, but also people who didn't even harm him. He would also be harming Lum, the person (other than his mother) who cares for him most. I'm sure that if this episode lasted a little bit longer, we would have seen Lum turn that cocky little prick into barbeque with her electricity.

Undoubtedly, the worst case of violence to occur in a school since Virgina Tech. The news reporters will probably be interviewing some of the Tomobiki students who will say, "I felt like it was happenin' to me".
Also, Megane loses a tooth in that scene. :D)
My favorite screencap out of those you posted is the one of Onsen-Mark soaring through the air in his boxer shorts. :D) :D) :D)
BTW, I do have two particularly cute screencaps of Lum from this episode. She's so cute when she's wearing a school uniform. ^_____^
P.S.
If you're by any chance worried that I'll use up all the screencaps from that episode, I'd like to mention that every screencap that I've taken from that episode is of Lum.

Who else besides me is willing to bet that Lum gave Ten the mother of all zappings (maybe even more severe than any zapping she has given to Ataru) when she got home from school that day?

You gotta love Lum. When Ataru tells her about a detention, she happily exclaims that she wants a detention too. She's so cute. ^______^

Lum promises Ataru that she won't say anything no what matter how horrible the situation gets.

This is the part that made me want to smack Ataru. Lum is about to zap Ten and put an end to his reign of terror once and for all, and Ataru steps in and tells her to resist the urge to retaliate. If that's his decision, Ataru gets just he deserves at the end of this episode. Too bad everybody else had to suffer along with him. :(

As some may remember,ataru is a magnet for bad luck,so no matter how hard he tries he will end up shocked/burned/cloned/shrinked/trapped in dimensions/kidnapped...etc.
Lum perhaps is the shining light of hope of that Tomobiki High classroom,as Mendo and Megane once mentioned

He is "a magnet for bad luck" because he was born on April 13th Friday at midnight with full moon. And to make the situation even worse he is a perv, lazy, he is hated by other people,...

ouch poor ataru, your attacking him with no mercy, true he deserves alot of what he gets, but you are forgetting that ataru probably has more self control then any other UY character. In every episode even a little mistake by Ten would result in an all out retaliation by ataru, and yet in this situation he not only didn't retaliate he also stopped Lum from too, risking a potential zapping when he grabbed her hand and making a circuit for electricity to move

It was definetly one of the better episodes. I admit I've never really found Ten to be an endearing charcter, therefore it didn't make me dislike him more.
With regard to the person who seemed to get the most pain from Ten, I thought it was Onsen-Mark. The poor guy had to keep teaching everyone through all the disruption, everyone else only had to sit there and listen. }:O

I wasn't attacking him. I just said why he has so many bad luck in his life. Besides, he is my second favourite character from Urusei Yatsura.

Would you say that Lum has a lot of self-control? From what I've seen, she can very cool-headed when she wants to be.

no i wouldn't, i hate to say it but she has very little self-control, one very good example is "152. Attack your Seniors! Revenge of the Infamous Three Daughters", she had no self control by the end of the episode

I would say that the only characters that have self-control are:
1- The Principal
2- Kotatsu-neko

Another example of Lum going berserk was in Episode 160 when she almost wiped all the male students that were trying to "have fun" with benten and ryuu >:)

There was a teacher-student fight I recall reading in the manga with a giant robot that only cheered (if was in the school grounds by the way). Is it the one you're talking about?

"This just in, ladies and gentlemen. Apparently, Tomobiki High did NOT, I repeat, did NOT blow up all day yesterday. Scientists are now investigating this strange phenomenon. More news as we get them."

That could also trigger the apocalypse,kroptik,lets hope yer "what if" commentary never happens,because in da end,blowing up and bizarre accidents are what make tomobiki high in a special place

That brings me, there are more exploding buildings in the anime than in the manga. :?

It's easier to make an explosion in an anime, since if you want a decent explosion in a manga, you'd have to use a page just for it. Anime just needs a quick close-up.
