And his love/hate relationship with Ataru is so fun to watch.

Hah, I've seen all of the movie and OAV several times, I've memorized every single frame of them and of the series aired over here... 8)
I'm missing only the memorial OAV "I'm the Shu-chan" and the episodes never aired in Italy... :'( }:| |:(

This screencap seems like the ideal picture to use for spiting others.

Those "whiskers" give Cherry a cat-like appearance. Maybe that's why Kotatsu-Neko and other stray cats tend to hang around him.

Animal seems very likely. There's also a chance, considering his enormous appetite, that he could come back as a hungry ghost. He'll probably spend that life feeding off of Ataru's energy.

Cherry is always there to lend fate a hand. He knows people need to be pushed in the right direction, he is fates little helper.
There is no intent to help or hurt, just a need to keep the natural order.

Cherry's just keeping a watchful eye on everyone until fate claims them and if he can speed them on there journey (to the afterlife), he will.

I believe everything has an equal and opposite force, physics was my favorite class cant you tell, cherry is the opposite of everything in reality, some believe that such a force is what humans call fate, but electricty was once considered magic, just what another thing humans try to explain and damn the stuff they dont understand, fate is another thing that is misunderstood or is just another thing like magic, something humans cant explain...
