Title: Forum Software Update
Post by: Lum-chan on January 11, 2012, 12:14:58 AM
A few days ago I upgraded the forum-software to SMF 2.0.2. After this was completed and has been tested for about 6-8 days I decided to update the portal-software to TP 1.0RC3 too. As far as I can see, everything should be in working order.

For both pieces of software many security-fixes have been applied with these two updates, so the forum is a bit safer than before (Thank God this is not PHP-Nuke or phpBB).

If you find something not working correctly, please let me know in this thread.

Enjoy!

In IE9 I am still getting syntax errors and the scroll bar at the bottom still keeps flickering in and out even tho the page size hasn't changed.

Scroll bar at the bottom flickering is caused by the snow. But can you post a screenshot of those syntax errors in IE9? I don't have IE9 while running on Windows XP Pro SP3... In IE8 with default settings, I don't get any Syntax Errors. Odd...

I can try but my screen cap hasn't been working lately. I have other issues with trojans trying to blast my PC so I have a lot of stuff running to try and prevent that.
Once I get a screencap I'll post it.

To be a bit more safe, you could give Firefox 9.0.1 with AdBlock Plus or Opera a go. Most of the malware is designed for IE to infect your system. What kind of Virus-scanner are you currently using? I'm using Avast-Free with Sandbox enabled. It has kept me in combination with Firefox out of that kind of trouble a lot.

But I will await your screenshot. Are there others with IE9 who experience the same syntax errors?

Ok here is a screenshot of it. Hopefully it will upload.
Also I spent til 5am sorting out my PC. Everything is reconfigured witha new firewall and new malware removers etc...

Drat too big I can try and make it way smaller and hope it uploads.
I had to shrink it that tiny to make it upload. I hope you can see it.

That's an odd message. Does it appear on all pages or only on the main-page?

It appears twice when I click on show replies to your posts. It always shows up twice then when I click the X it goes away and doesn't come back for that session. It is strange

Does the compatibility-mode of IE9 change anything?

Well for some reason it didn't do it when I logged on this time. If it does it again I will turn on compatibility and see if that helps.

Ok, please keep me informed if you can.

To our other beloved visitors: Do you experience the same problems when using IE9? If you do, please respond here. TIA

It doesn't seem to be doing it any more. I will let you know if it starts doing it again.

Great! I did find some small issues with the server-settings and some corrupted output. All should be okay now.
