Well I can't judge, but Street Fighter and Dragon Ball live action didnt do so well. Why would they do with Ranma when most of its elements are more cartoonish?

American live actions are fail. But japanese live actions can be good, or least so bad that it's hilarious to watch ^^ I know live action Gantz was good...

Yes, some japanese live actions are good, the Maison Ikkoku Dorama on 2007 (not that from 1986) is good, just a shame is only that ended with only two episodes.
Anime is something you can't reproduce no matter which Anime it is. Live Actions are epic fails, if you ask me =/
But the original is the manga and the anime of Ranma 1/2 have on the middle many fillers/stories, that are not in the manga.

Japanese... yeah that would do better though anime still keeps more originality. So since Ranma 1/2 is going to be action live, let's hope it's not American. Lol

Well, I watched it tonight. It aired at 19:00 and I watched it all the way through. Was it great? No. But it didn't suck. It was amusing to watch and kept the character of the manga for the most part I thought. My only complaint is So it's definitely worth watching, but don't be expecting any masterpiece. Just take it for what it is and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I think I Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell would make good live action films because they not at all cartoony and have western appeal. Steven Speilberg was going to direct a Ghost in the Shell live action 3D film but now he is no longer named as the director and the director is uncertain, it was meant to be released this year but they haven't even started filming it or named a director so it looks like it is in development hell. I have tried emailing to the address on the English Production I.Gs website.
The live action cowboy bebop film original script was cut down because they didn't have the budget for it and right now Instavision is facing a lawsuit for six charges including not paying a US$250,000 loan to Debra Goldstein and Bob Ritchie. A judge will review the case on the sixth of January 2012. So it looks like the film is not going to be made.
