Title: [EXPLAINED] A way to see what posts you have read please?
Post by: Urusei0Yatsura on March 01, 2011, 04:20:20 PM
I always find it difficult to tell which posts I have read. Since some replies can be many and some replies can be very long like the 'its a rumic world' thread which currently has 353 replies it is virtually impossible to read through the whole thread again to see which is new which takes a long time and is fustrating.

Perhaps this could  be solved by clicking a checkbox for every reply read and/or a whole page check box. When you go on the thread again perhaps it would automatically put your scroll wheel on the first reply you have not read or there could be a 'go to newest unread post' on the 'new replies' forum.

Edit: Sorry this is a bit hard to understand. I just have difficulty wording it.

That option doesn't cover the whole meaning of the phrase 'unread messages'. The best thing you could do is click on the new (http://www.lum-chan.com/Themes/OmegaGreen1112/images/english/new.gif) icon for each topic (when visible) to read the unread messages in that thread. It wil take you directly to that new post.

Or do I understand you incorrectly?

The suggestion you mention is hard to adapt in the forum-software of SMF. I'll see if I can get something similair but if it's possible... I don't know...

I didn't know you could go to the nearest unread message. That is good enough for me. Don't bother making something new just because I didn't understand how to use the website.
