Title: Your Urusei Yatsura Purchase/Fan Articles
Post by: AtaruLum on January 24, 2011, 10:05:09 PM
This is a interesting topic ^^. I'm interested in what people are getting about UY.

My UY Collection:

DVDs:

A french tv dvd box vol. 1, which includes episode 1 - 26.

A original japanese uy tv dvd, which includes episode 1 - 4 (no subs).

There are two "beautiful dreamer" dvds, left the us (buyed last year), right the french (buyed in this november). Personally i prefer the french dvd, because the videoformat is in 16:9 (used the japanese remastered version), the us only 4:3 and the french dvd have many extras (booklet, a card, Mamoru Oshi Reportage, ab japanese mythology documentation, a interview with Akemi Takada, and UY stickers). The french dvd has also a 5.1 french dub, but the 5.1 dub is distorted. I have a dvd copy of the original japanese dvd version and they include also a 5.1 japanese dub and this is really clearer and better (UY 2: Japanese DVD Review (http://www.mania.com/urusei-yatsura-beautiful-dreamer_article_74905.html)).

other uy dvds:
Urusei Yatsura DVD Box 2 French Episode 26 - 52.
Urusei Yatsura Movies (the first two are from US, the rest are from france)
Urusei Yatsura OVA Complete (UK)
Urusei Yatsura TV 14-15 (US)
Urusei Yatsura TV 46-50 (US)
Lamu - La Ragazza Dello Spazio (Italian) Vol. 18 Episode 68-71
Lamu - La Ragazza Dello Spazio (Italian) Vol. 23 Episode 88-91
Urusei Yatsura OVAs (Spain) (recently purchased)

VHS: Those Obnoxious Aliens Episode 1 - 2 (US Dub)

Mangas:

LUM * Urusei Yatsura Perfect Collection (US)
LUM * Urusei Yatsura Vol.6-8

Urusei Yatsura Song Book
Urusei Yatsura Artbook: Remember My Love

It's a Rumic World Artbook

Booklet:

Soundtrack: Lum for the world (recently get it from Yahoo Auctions)

Planned to buy:

Urusei Yatsura: The Shogaibutsu Suiei Taikai as Blu-ray
A LaserDisc Player
Urusei Yatsura Karaoke Music Parade
Urusei Yatsura 10th Anniversary Party PART 1 (If the DVD is still on Yahoo Auctions, I wouldn't buy the japanese complete dvd box set for over $4.000,00)

The only stuff i have at the moment is
old UY comics
(http://oi55.tinypic.com/15s8t2d.jpg)
1/6 lum who is standing next to my painted devilman model(size comparison to a 23 inch model)
and lastly these 2 UY figures
(http://oi54.tinypic.com/21aml36.jpg)
I really want these figures but for 95s buck is it really worth it? http://cgi.ebay.com/URUSEI-YATSURA-97-sexy-Lum-5-Figures-set-rare-/230577789093?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35af81d8a5

I have nothing except episodes, OVAs, specials and movies that I was able to get from torrents and such. =(

Everything released in NorthAmerica on DVD, plus the 2008 RumicWorld OVA and the preview DVD of the same.

But, you know I like figures. Well. Yesterday at Ohayocon11 (Columbus Ohio), I was perusing the newly-expanded Dealer Room ... and found these
(http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/5804/p1010296b.jpg)

The Bome "bottle-top" Lum figures. These are the from the 2nd release for these figures (the hair color has a slight metallic shine and is more jewel-toned). Seeing them with my own eyes proved that they were of sufficient size and quality to claim their rightful place at the top of my harem figure collection. And the price was right ($35 each).

So Very Very Happy now. ;D

Both figures look very pretty. Great purchase, if you ask me. =)

Post by: veehive on January 30, 2011, 02:11:47 AM
Thank you!

(I needed that. I just checked eBay and these can be purchased for $20 each. Ouch! HOWEVER, if I had not actually seen them I would not have known just how good they are, so I would have continued to pass them by. And, I have the story of buying them at an anime con'.)

edit: Truly a match made in Heaven (or Tomobiki-cho): one of the bottle-top Lum figures sitting on one of my old autocross trophies ... one shaped like a banana crescent moon. Lum sat patiently while I fiddled with poses and camera angles and stuff.

Can't decide which picture I like better.

Woah. I didn't have any idea the figures were good. I hadn't paid much attention to that particular kind.

Wait, is Lum sitting on a banana? xD
Title: Re: Your Urusei Yatsura Purchase/Fan Articles
Post by: Cosmic King on February 01, 2011, 08:38:51 PM
Neat Lum figures, Veehive, but I think it is quite TOO suggestive to let Lum ride Dave McKenney's "Banana"

Anyways, Veehive, I believe that the second picture is the best one
Title: Re: Your Urusei Yatsura Purchase/Fan Articles

Lum sitting on a crescent moon: what a dirty mind you have I never thought about that before!
Title: Re: Your Urusei Yatsura Purchase/Fan Articles
Post by: veehive on February 03, 2011, 04:43:11 AM
Actually, when I saw the old trophy, the image that I had in mind was this:
... from the 1st OP. And, I might add, you'll note that Lum is NOT riding astride the banana but is seated "sidesaddle" as a proper lady (again, reflecting the pose from the 1st OP).

As for the banana -- ehmm --- yes, that was a bit of sassy humor on the part of all the maniacs in the Steel Cities' Region SCCA Autocross program back then. Good good times and good good people, I miss them. And, yes, that is my name on the trophy, 'though I prefer David these days. How do you do? 8D

I also remembered that scene BUT I couldn't help but ask the banana question. xD

Leave it to the Spanish to not have ANYTHING in english. xD
Honestly, it amazes me how they dub everything to spanish... =/
Portuguese subs do sound nice though, even if I am a bigger fan of the original english ones. :o
Title: Re: Your Urusei Yatsura Purchase/Fan Articles
Post by: cata on February 05, 2011, 11:14:25 AM
^ yeah, they dub everything to spanish. I've accidentally watched some spanish dubs of The L Word (not Anime, gay american series) and man, the voices didn't match the characters at all. xD
Title: Re: Your Urusei Yatsura Purchase/Fan Articles
Post by: AtaruLum on February 05, 2011, 11:43:53 PM
I get the spanish ova dvd boxset from starscafe.com, also available the movies (the boxset) have the same things.

I think from the TV Series there are some different dubs: one is Lamu ( http://www.zonadvd.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=14490 ), only available on dvd have spain, catalan and japanese dub, subtitles: spain and portugese. I don't know how many episodes included on this box (personally i think the first 21).

The another dub named "Lum, la chica invasora" are only aired on spanish television, but all episodes are dubbed.

I'll be in Japan for almost a full year starting in a bit over a month so I'll have to find some nice Urusei Yatsura goods while I'm there. xD
Yahoo Auctions Japan will be much less of a hassle when I'm in Japan as well. Thank you ^.^

Hehe no thank you xP
I've been waiting for this for almost 6 years now.
It's gonna be the best year of my life.
I can't wait to speak Japanese every day! xD
Though even though I'll be in Japan Urusei Yatsura stuff will be hard to come by other than the manga.
Last time I was in Japan (over 3 years ago) I was only there for a week and a half but the only Urusei Yatsura stuff I saw was the manga and that's just because they had just released a new edition of them.

Are the Pachinko games available for sale in the US? I wouldn't mind buying one if I could get one for the right price. They have to be made so you can't use them for gambling. I'm not certain how that's done.

I ordered a Urusei Yatsura Pachislo machine and it's due in late this week or early next week.

I was also able to find someone who could get me a Urusei Yatsura - Love Forever Pachinko Machine.
It's EXPENSIVE! It will also take 4-5 months to get here.  :(

I will post some pics of the Pachislo machine after it arrives and I have it set up. Thankfully it comes with 500 tokens!  ;D

Is that a Pachinko machine?
They have to find the machine which is still being used in Pachinko parlors and import it here. Urusei yatsura machine are very hard to come buy and run about $400-600 for a 2005 UY CR3. I only like the cell on the PS-F model CR3 it's a high odds machine as well.

Here are some pics of the cells from the Urusei Yatsura CR3 Pchinko game from 2005. If you want to see the Promo's I could try and dig them up.
http://www.okumura-yuuki.com/products/2005/ys.html

The one I have ordered is the one that is second from the top.
But my first order is for Urusei Yatsura Forever Love. I am worried the price might be over $1,000USD!  :o
I am hoping it's well under that.

Here is a link for it.
http://www.okumura-yuuki.com/products/2011/details_yf/index.html

I have other machines on order, but the UY Pachislo should be delivered by Friday. I'll post pics of that once I have it set up and working in my den.  8)

There are a few Gundam machines like this one. There are some other Gundam Pachislo machines, but I only have the promo for "Gundam: Encounters in Space"

Na its a ps3 game in which i waited a long time for it to get ported to the ps3... But man ordering a Pachinko machine overseas seems like a huge hassle(i have problems sometimes with model kits getting shipped) xP and 1000 is a pretty high price tag D:

I have a PS3 but I don't play it as much any more as my carpel tunnel has gotten worse.  :'(
That Gundam game sounds pretty cool! Which Gundam is it? There are so many.

Fortunately I found people who import all kinds of things.  ;D
I will post pics after I get my Urusei Yatsura Pachislo machine. If I like it I just might buy the second model. I have so many machines on order right now, but they are all pachinko. Yeah it takes a LONG time to get the machine you want with no guarantee and money upfront. But Some stuff is just so F'ing COOL!

Here is a video of a machine I have on order, it's not UY but it's amazing! Expensive and amazing!  ;) Those cars are not animated they are animatronic and actually race around inside the machine!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIozhl0b4NI&feature=player_embedded

My wife wants a Cutie Honey machine but those are very rare, hard to get, and expensive as all get out plus they sell out like wildfire.

The UY Pachislo games are so rare that no one has even reviewed them and they came out in 2007!

... Here is a video of a machine I have on order, it's not UY but it's amazing! Expensive and amazing!  ;) Those cars are not animated they are animatronic and actually race around inside the machine!

Boobie bounce. Good grief! 8D

(not a complaint, mind you ....)

Ok I got my Urusei Yatsura Pachislo machine in today!  :hehe

Here are a couple of pics. I took pics of the whole machine and the cell on the belly.
I had to fix the cell so that took a while but this plays awesome. It's payouts are very small tho.
I will take better pics later and post them to the Gallery.
There aren't many of these in the USA.
I can't wait for my UY Pachinko machines!

Basically for playing Pachislo you put in money and watch the balls fly xD
You can choose the speed the balls get shot out at, but basically you set the speed how you want and watch the balls shoot out until they run out and you need to put more money in. Unless you're really lucky.

Also, awesome purchase! I would kill to have a Urusei Yatsura Pachislo in my house! xD

A Pachislo machine is very similar to a slot machine you put in tokens (like Chuck E Cheese) and it pays out in tokens.
What makes it not a slot machine is that the reels require you to press a button to stop them.
So if your skill is good you can do really well. The better you do the more bonuses you get. I have 1,000 tokens so when i won 352 of them I had to add some back into the machines hopper.  ;)

I can make a video of how they work if you like. The thing is you have to do well if you want to see better and better videos and those are affected by the odds that are set on the machine. Mine is currently set to 4 but winning is small and on higher settings I get a lot of Mendou's octopus coming up, and all that nets you is a free spin not a decent video.

Thanks it is awesome! I have Urusei Yatsura Forever Love Pachinko on order.
You are describing Pachinko not Pachislo. Pachinko uses the balls and Pachislo uses tokens.
Pachislo is like a slot machine and well pachinko is balls that tumble through a series of pins.
The new machones can fire 90 balls a minute!

Are you still over in Japan? You should be able to play in a Pachinko Parlor. Forever Love is still in the parlors over there.

I'v seen some funny stuff on this machine. I'll make a video of it and post a link.
But it is kick butt swag for sure, now if I can get my wife to let me play it some more!

Swizzle was in Japan. I should have quoted him, sorry bout that.

There is a Maison Ikkoku Pachinko machine that has just been released in Japan. It's not really my speed as I prefer wacky to romantic.
I have a link for it somewhere.

If you want to see totally bizzare and borderline insane check out this promo!
I mean I have seen some weird stuff but this is up there with Ping Pong Club anime.  :o

To stay on topic here in the Promo for Urusei Yatsura Forever Love, the machine I have on order.

I have the Pachislo machine that's mine in the pic above. I will take a video of it once I have a place to put it. We have been remodeling the house so everything is everywhere.
The Maison Ikkoku pachinko game is a new machine out this year, I think. I know a guy who has the older model.
Videos and more pics will be coming soon.  :)

I know right, it's the best looking one out there. I'd love to get a blow up Lum doll a big one like Rei had in one of the earlier episodes. (not a porn thing). She still cracks up when the doll pops and goes whizzing around the room.

I have to setup a video camera at the right height and then we have to play the machine for hours and hours recording everything then edit all that into 5-10 minutes. I will also do an overview of the machine and how to play it. So a very large bucket of tokens for my wife and then play til she drops.  ;) She volunteered.  :P

I might have to adjust the odds even tho you get less cool videos because it requires you nail it on certain scenes to advance. You get a lot more funny small scenes with higher odds. You also get "Girl Hunt Time" and "Hyper Bonus" I haven't gotten Hyper Bonus yet.

Ok it took a long time to get the settings for the camera just right best I can do for now.
This is Attract mode on my Urusei Yatsura 1 Pachislo machine. This is the mode you will see when you walk into a
parlor in Japan. This repeats as long as the machine is on and no one is playing it.
I will do a review of the machine. I can post that here if anyone is interested although it is really for a different forum.
I will also have videos of Girl Hunt Time and Bonus rounds as well as Reaches.
I'm not sure this topic is the place to put those so moderators if there is a better place please let me know where
you'd like me to post info on the Urusei Yatsura Professional games.
I also have a ton of UY swag I found in my closet but no time to take pics of it right now.
Let me know if you like the video. Yes it's short but took 2 hours to setup to film the LCD screen.
There is no sound in attract mode but tons of it in the other modes. It was filmed in 1080p 60i so you can watch it in Hi-Def.  ;)

You might get one someday. You can always try through Japamart or use a bidder. I know a bidder who is supposed to be pretty good. But he charges 15% over the price and then there is shipping charges etc...

Maybe someday when we are done painting and rennovating.  ;)
By then I will have a dozen or so Pachinko machines. I know small collection but I don't have enough room for more yet.
Some of the guys I know have 20-30 Pachi in their collections!
One guy has 75 pachinko machines but all of his are vintage machines.
Once we are done painting the Den I will be putting all my Anime stuff on display and having it look like
it ought to instead of shlepping it around because of the work that's being done.

I live way up in New Hampshire. We are going to the Anime convention in April in Boston Mass tho.
If you are going we might be able to meet up and chat.

Thanks but those aren't posters those are Shijatiki's. Pencil boards. Posters are much cheaper  ;D
I have a Ton of Ranma 1/2 Shijatiki's and I'm going to buy a few more this year. They look awesome and are pretty big.
If you look at them, in every pic is a quarter or a dime or some type of recognizable coin.
I used a quarter for the shitajiki's that will show you the scale of how big they are.

I only posted my UY Shitajiki's because this is a UY board but I have at least a dozen Shitajiki's, maybe more. I have Video Girl Ai and Project A-ko and a lot of other stuff. Shitajiki's are so expensive now. Back when I bought mine they were $5, now they are around $15 each not including shipping.

I used to have some of the coolest UY posters from way back and they were mounted on foam boards and were in my apartment.
I had to take them down because my GF at the time hated anime and anything like that and thought they were stupid and juvenile.
So I put them into storage, when I moved overseas I had no place to store most of my things so I sold or tossed just
about everything out.  :'(

The Figma lum is very cool but as was stated it's expensive. Great if you want to pose Lum tho.
You can still get one for ~$90 but they go up in price from there.

Is this the Happinet Lum figure you mean? It's the only one I have seen from Happinet.

Just to go over some of the stuff. The books in the top pictures are Shounen Sunday Graphic books which are my favorite thing in my collection. There's 15 in total and I have a little over half of them right now (and plan on getting the rest). They contain Urusei Yatsura artwork, episode guides, movie info, merchandise info, Rumiko's manga about her daily life, music scores, cast interviews, stickers, one of them has a set of playing cards, they are just full of amazing stuff.

The cds are the Urusei Yatsura CD Single Memorial Album, which contains all 25 singles and a booklet containing the original cover art for all of the singles as well as all of the lyrics for the songs.

The gameboy game is complete with manual and box and everything as you can see and the Famicon cartridge is the Lum no Wedding Bell game along with a SHARP Twin Famicon for me to play it on (I also have around 40 other Famicon games). I've got those 3 figures, all of the original manga, about half of the reprint version of the manga, vol 3 of the bunko manga release, and in the US I have all of the wideban manga. That sticker is a new release that came out not too long ago and it's UV cut and waterproof. The other CD is the 10th year memorial album containing 2 songs. If you have any questions feel free to ask. At some point I may post some pictures of non-UY related stuff I've gotten here as well if you guys want (in another thread of course since this is a UY thread)

Great collection you have there Swizzle!
You should be able to find all sorts of cool UY merchandise in Japan.

Have you tried to find a UY Pachinko machine there? They have the Uruse Yatsura "Forever Love" Pachinko machines still in the Pachinko Parlors in Japan.

The Figma lum is very cool but as was stated it's expensive. Great if you want to pose Lum tho.
You can still get one for ~$90 but they go up in price from there.

Just being able to pose it sells it for me.

And wow Swizzle, wow.

@Redacted, No, I haven't tried Pachinko yet. I'll probably go try it out in a couple weeks or so. That's definitely on my list of things to do before I leave Japan.

So you guys may think I have a decent collection of Urusei Yatsura stuff already, but today I got more money and went hunting in Akihabara. I couldn't believe some of the Urusei Yatsura stuff I was able to find.

So again a quick explanation of what the stuff is. The first 2 pictures are notepads and are recent releases. Next is the Urusei Yatsura DS game. Not sure if you guys know this about me or not, but I'm a huge gamer (have most of the well known classic consoles as well as new consoles with a ton of games) and I plan on getting every Urusei Yatsura game complete in box with manual (haven't been able to find the Lum no Wedding Bell in box yet) so this gets me closer to that goal. Next is the 1995 Music Calendar. It still has the calendar with it as seen in the picture and in the booklet is has the air date and name of every Urusei Yatsura episode and some other miscellaneous Urusei Yatsura info. so I was super excited to find that. Last but certainly not least is the t-shirt. One thing I've always wanted since I started watching Urusei Yatsura was a T-shirt for it and today I finally found one! It's the right size for me as well if I wanted to wear it (not sure if I will or not since it's really special to me and I want to keep it in good condition). So ya, today was a very successful day for me. I found some of the movie DVDs but each movie is over $60 and I'm not sure it's worth it for me. I may get the Rumic World OVA for about $35 on Blu-ray though. Need to re-watch it and see if it's worth buying or not.

I have been tempted to buy the Urusei Yatsura Nintendo DS game but it's fairly expensive on eBay.
I believe it's a dating sim, so it'll be very text intensive. I'm curious about your thoughts on playing it.

I had a Digi Charat game that was all in Japanese, where you ran a store and I was able to figure
out that one somewhat.

Nice T-shirts swizzle.

If you can read a little Japanese I would go for it Redacted, if it's not THAT expensive. But me myself, I don't know how to read Japanese at all.

I would have to buy another Nintendo DS so yeah, it'd be expensive because of that.
You need to understand what the girlsare saying in a dating sim otherwise you will never win.
I tried one years ago and apparantly youmakes dates for certain times and you don't want to be meeting
2 or more girls at the same place or even different places at the same time.

The Nintendo DS isn't region locked so a DS from a different country can still play Japanese DS games so you shouldn't need to get a new DS (unless your current one is broken) but ya, I'll play it and let you know how necessary Japanese is to play it.
Title: Re: Your Urusei Yatsura Purchase/Fan Articles
Post by: REDACTED on January 28, 2012, 10:34:03 AM
Yep I know it's not region locked but I no longer own a Nintendo DS. I sold it a while back because I rarely played it.
If I want that UY game I need a Nintendo DS to go with it. If it's worth it then I might go for it.
My wife wants an iPad2 tho.

Alright, so on Sunday I ended up going to Shibuya and found some cool Urusei Yatsura stuff at a price I was willing to pay. This time will probably be the last of the Urusei Yatsura stuff I get in Japan unless I find something really cool or find some really good deals.

Alright, so the first 2 pics are of 3 out of the 4 main OVA DVDs. I wasn't going to get any Urusei Yatsura DVDs because they're normally really expensive (over $60 usually) but these were at a price I was willing to pay. I do want to get the last main OVA DVD as well and the Blu-ray for The Obstacle Course Swim Meet so that I can at least have the OVA series on DVD since I'll never be able to afford the TV Series or Movie Series (I might get my favorite movie after I see them all though). I also found the '89 music calendar which includes the calendar (obviously) as well as the clear sheets with Lum and the backgrounds so that you can kind of make your own scenes with it. I thought it was pretty awesome. I also found a couple of the nice plastic poster things (Not sure what they're called but I have quite a few for different series and I really like them). So ya, that'll be all until I find the last OVA DVD that I need and until I get the 2008 OVA on Blu-ray.

Edit: Sorry for some of the pictures being upside down. Image shack was acting up and I forgot to set them straight before uploading so they ended up being upside down. x.x

I have it too, bought in the last year.

The movies are really expensive and are hard to get that, especially the remastered version (but sound sucks at Movie 3,4 and 5), that was released in 2001 in Japan.

Hi Swizzle, those look like Shitajiki's (pencil boards) I have quite a few of them and really like them.
I have them for many different series of anime. How expensive are they in Japan? Here they can go for $8-16 not including shipping.

Ya, that's what they are. I just couldn't remember what they're called. xP
Each one cost a bit over $5, but you can probably find more common ones a bit cheaper.

Grab all the ones you like because in the US they go for no less than $8 on eBay and then you have shipping on top of that.
If they were $5 and no shipping here like they were back in 1995-1996 I'd buy a lot more of them.

Nice Swag!  :)

Cool! too bad it's a VHS and not a DVD. 30,000Yen is ~$417USD so it's a pricey collectible.
You might get one someday. You can always try through Japamart or use a bidder. I know a bidder who is supposed to be pretty good. But he charges 15% over the price and then there is shipping charges etc...

Finally i get it today with a much cheaper price :) (lower than 6 000 Yen).

6,000 Yen is a Good Deal!

I wonder why people say Lamu "Lah mu" when it's supposed to be pronounced Lum.
I was talking with my supplier in Osaka a couple of days ago and he is very familiar with Urusei Yatsura and it's definitely pronounced Lum. The u is silent. This guy is Japanese from Osaka and deals with Urusei Yatsura products. I do know the Seiyu for Ran-chan says "Lah mu" all the time, so maybe a dialect?

My 2016 trip to Japan is complete, I am back in the UnitedSnakes. What did I bring back from the land of Tomobiki? Possibly, the Holy Grail of Lum-related merchandise: from Fujinoi sake distillers (from Takahashi's home town, Niigata), a commemorative bottle of sake with Lum on the label!

These were first announced several years ago, and I searched for a direct link to import one. No chance. Imagine my shock at seeing these at a shop in Akihabara! Bought her, prepared myself to pay duties on her (whatever that may cost), and hoped and prayed that she would arrive unbroken and pass through Customs. All is good.

This double CD release its the most recent CD release of Urusei Yatsura, released in 2015. It's basically a compilation of every vocal track of the anime, opening, ending, movie theme and insert song. It's a bit costly but worth every cent for having all the vocal tracks.
