No, it's not a joke as much as I wanted it to be. No more ecchi, shounen, school uniforms, yaoi, yuri and seinen.

No more One Piece, Naruto, Kanokon, Berserk, Tenjou Tenge, ...

I can live without ecchi, yaori, yuri (dont know what seinen means yet) but why is shounen and school uniform not okay?

(notice it doesn't even specify the school uniforms?)

I guess shounen's problem is violence (screw them for siding with 4Kids)

school uniforms? skits flying up to show underwear, I guess, but how hard is it to avoid that? 1 option is to lengthen the skirt. Is underwear really essential to the anime itself anyway? (unlike violence for shounen)

@urusei dam how could they side with 4kids! even though its not on tv anymore but still!
But anyways where did it say it would affect shounen and seinen?

4kids is on TV, it's 4kids Toonzai now

They seem to be focusing more on showing anime compared to cartoons now.

So look forward to more blue Popo's, sweat colored blood, and [slightly] poisonous suction cups.

Oh, and also alternatives to death.

Does this mean violent manga and anime will be censored?

It still has yet to be approved and will always be self regulating, so they don't have to go by the bill.

I can live without anime and manga (now at least) but aren't people "jumping the gun" on this?

I'm sure they wont take ecchi, shounen, school uniforms, yaoi, yuri and seinen (is a subset of manga that is generally targeted at an 18–30 year old male audience) from you. Obviously there will be things that will become banned but it will still be ecchi, shounen, school uniforms, yaoi, yuri and seinen.

Basically all those genres I said will be +18.

And yes, that bill is approved and will value as a law in July 2011.

Shounen for kids will have to be without violence, for instance. Otherwise, it will be considered seinen and be on +18 stores.

Yes, every yaoi, yuri, ecchi, etc will be only available on +18 stores.

I know that DVDs have age ratings in America and Europe but manga doesn't. I think all this means is that manga will start having age ratings in Japan.

Yes and no. All the content I said above will only be available in +18/+21 shops.

If they do not allow these things for shonen, then quite simply violent and ecchi shounen won't get made. You will get violent and ecchi seinen but there won't be as much and it will be seinen only.

I've been reading mangas like crazy because of this... I was missing out so many good, funny and ecchi mangas... so... thank you japanese legislators... XD

Nana to Kaoru and Baka to Boing are just 2 that I can place here... the rest is a bit... henta'ish... if not hentai ;D

For the rest... see the following link... http://myanimelist.net/mangalist/FallinG_StaR

I think you might be right as most people who read shounen are at university, making the bill pointless if it wasn't for younger people having access to it. At the risk of repeating myself there will be a lot less or no ecchi or violent shounen made after the bill. Of course this could push it underground in doujinshis (does the bill affect doujinshis or not?) in which case it will probably never make it to the Western world or minors will get a hold of it in which case action will probably be taken against it. Its still bad news for us manga and anime fans, you would have thought Japan would have been more preserving of its visual culture, not wishing to 'cleanse' it.

Doujinshi... (I think) will only get affected if the maker wants to publish his work... if its uploaded and bought via web... I don't think legislators can do anything. Anyway... there's always a loophole that can be exploited.

WHAT? What did you say with ": Anime and Manga death sentence set to be on 1st July 2011" ? That means the summer will not be published manga and anime? Finished this ART? Not Apeared new anime? Anime and Manga is a ART and my favorite things.

.... No it just means that Anime and Manga will become more general public friendly (less eichi, violence, etc. ... so it'll be like cartoons here in North America...)

I suppose it would take some time before Anime and Manga start obeying this new law or they would start advertising themselves in another manner

By the way, Sensei, Aren't there several Ninja Anime series with big "melons" already?

Yes, there's a lot of ninja anime series with big "melons" (those are bigger than any melon I ever seen) ;D , but the plot of the one I showed the trailer is even boob related.

The TV anime series Manyuu Hiken-chou is created by Hoods Entertainment, based on Hideki Yamada's loosely historical (and highly ecchi) manga set in a parallel Taihei Edo period, in which breasts mean everything: if you have them, you are guaranteed wealth and popularity. If you lack them, you are rarely considered "human". Members of the Manyuu Clan help raise the future big breasts.

So... this is different of all the others out there...  ;D  :9

Methinks they must be living on a matriarchal society led by women with serious issues

How do men live on that society if they lack that kind of breasts?

I think the leader of the clan is a man. And they make it so because they like women with big boobs.

Perfect heaven at least while they're young... then it will be kinda disturbing...  :/

Such a fitting punishment, hehehehe

Well... It's anime... and we all know that the anime laws like to defy gravity... so... maybe not a punishment.

The man would have to do all the house chores... because with those things in front of them (women) it will be hard to do anything right.

Manyū Hiken-chō which translates as Magic Breast Secret Scroll is aired on television in Japan but its censored, the webcast is not.
