Nice to see them perform as their characters. This was almost 20 years ago, btw.
Next year will be 30 years for the anime.
(hmmm. they had a 10-year reunion ... and a 20-year show ... hmmmmmm .... )

Hirano was into character the whole time (voice-wise) but I had some trouble indentifying Ataru in Furukawa sometimes.

it surprises me how some voice actors retain their same voice quality over the years.

I guess the main voice never changes after going through puberty. Well, it changes again once you become an old man/woman.
However those people that really work their voice (singers, TV Shows' hosts, actors, people that go to live rock, metal, pop, etc music shows, ...) are able to maintain their voices over the years and have of course a greater voicing range.
Then of course there are people who are born with natural talent. xD

Mmm ... not so much that, but people start thinking they're Officially OLD and they start emulating voices (and behaviors) of what they think "Old" is. They don't lose their "adult" voice (their authoratative voice), they just stop using it.
However those people that really work their voice (singers, TV Shows' hosts, actors, people that go to live rock, metal, pop, etc music shows, ...) are able to maintain their voices over the years and have of course a greater voicing range.
My point exactly. Except that ANYONE can do this, pretty much.

Mendo and Shinobu: Mendou screaming FTW xD I was the whole time wishing Shinobu to yell "MEN BE DAMNED!!!!!!!!!!" but it didn't happen =/
When Mendo said something about Ataru my hopes of hearing Shinobu's most famous line were really high xD

You're right Cata, her first seiyu was Yō Inoue.
Yō Inoue (井上 瑤, Inoue Yō?), born Yumi Shitsukawa (漆川 由美, Shitsukawa Yumi?, December 4, 1946 – February 28, 2003) was a veteran seiyū (voice actress). Inoue was diagnosed with lung cancer in late 2001, underwent treatments during 2002, and her condition deteriorated rapidly in the last month of her life.
As you can see from the dates, her death and her stopping as Ran's seiyuu don't seem to be related. o.o
Her other voice actor was Kazue Komiya.

Unconfirmed but from a good source: Ms. Inoue left voice work (midway through the production run of Urusei Yatsura) to spend time with her then-new husband, an Nepalese gentleman.

I found at the Yahoo.co.jp Auction Site: http://page13.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/r71732833 (http://page13.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/r71732833) the first (of two) DVD of the Anniversary Party, starting with 6 000 Yen. It is a special DVD and is only included on the two UY japanese DVD Boxsets. Would be nice, if anyone can buy this.
