Print Page - Major Update on forum in progress!

Within a few days the site will go down for a few hours up to a few days due to severe problems which needs to be fixed. This means a complete update on all software which is currently used at the site. At the same time all obsolete code will be removed to speed up some things. Some old and unsupported mods will be removed and probably replaced with new working mods.

Don't worry! No posts or users will be deleted as I make full backups tomorrow and just before a down the site I'll make them again.

This thread will also be used to receive bug-reports/suggestions/fixes on the site to be done after upping the forum once again.

I'll keep you guys/galls posted on this!

@janus: Added it to the list of new additions. I'm currently checking some mods which include more formats/sites which provide embedded video's and such. If it's not supported I'll add it as a extra option.

There are 2 different smileys with the same code: one is the "shocking" smiley that basically it's a smiley with his eyes popping out, like surprised. The other one seems embarassingly surprised xD Code: : o Fixed

Currently, I'm updating the forum-software. Some options aren't available yet of will be replaced/removed.

No fancy things at this moment. Due to many additions in the past, it makes a lot of trouble to update the software. This is why I first remove all the options, update the software and re-add the options again. After that and everything works OK, I'll add requests if possible.

At the Gallery is the current image size for uploading at a maximum of 1024x786 pixels. Is this good or this to be enlarged to a bigger size?

Need some input on this for the re-config of the Picture Gallery.

tested the gallery, faster loading, easier for overview but still have to "hit and retreat" if you want to view separate pics ><
if possible, slide show or direction to next pic could be really neat.

Upload in batches isn't available yet. Comes available when I upgrade to the pro-version (ie buy). Then User-Galleries are available as well amongst more nice options

Automatic scrolling of the shout box... I think we discussed this last update... but I don't like it.
If we choose the "show last 50" option for me it doesn't work... it shows the 1st 4 or 5... but nothing else... can't scroll down or anything...

The themes... we need more themes... at least the old light green one.

The dark green is too... dark and depressing and the Default... just doesn't fit in with the forum...

though options would be good like when this theme first came in, there were at least 2 or 3 other themes but since then it seems this is the only option now.

Yups, I agree but don't worry, I'm working on the two other green theme's. As soon as one of them comes available, the blue-ish theme will no longer be available (I use it mainly for testing purposes)

I noticed that the Who's Online page refreshes periodically, which I think is pretty cool cause it'll show you what's newly posted/ currently who's online if you left the computer for a while. :D

This is not a major thing but... when I'm checking the "User Online" the letter size in the shout box is bigger (huge) than the rest of the site... and doesn't have the scroll bar...

Found it. It's a bad coding thing in a mod which let's the Wo's Online? page refresh every 10 seconds. I'll get into this asap

Today I upgraded the forum-software to SMF 1.1.12 and The portal software to TinyPortal 1.0RC1. I left out some packages which weren't in use for quite some time. Still, I have to find a replacement to view YouTube Video's. The previous package was taking too much CPU cycles and slowed down the overall performance of the forum and it's contents. That problem is now fixed. This means no migration to a faster service until further notice.

As I'm busy to make the last modifications to the software you might see some changes from time to time. Overall, I'm glad to see the increase in performance for the website. Tho, form time to time it will react a bit slow but I'm working on that as well.

I hope you will enjoy this speedup a bit!

How's the speed / performance of the forum at the moment? As far as I can see, it's a lot faster now. A page loads within a second here with peaks up to a max of 5 second loading time (ie some slow server-response on the DB).

It's just fine, as you said, loading under a sec.

No more crappy lag. ;D

And added the missing green themes too ;)
These are now available for everyone except for guests.

The changelog is still getting larger ;D

The site loads a lot faster now.

Last weekend I tried to fix the odd characters in many posts. As far as I can see, almost 96% of those are fixed now. Currently I'm checking the Gallery. Unfortunate, here are those damn characters as well. I'll try to fix these Thursday (after some hours of sleep). This will take some time as I have to check each entry manually.

Thanks GiovaneDinamitardo, Comes with the job. Looks like I have just finished all the galleries. Have been editing for the last 3-4 hours, need some rest and then checking other parts of the forum for those obnoxious characters ;D

Finally, after fiddling so long with some php-code I managed to get the auto-scroller working for the Recent Topics block. It looks like it working like a charm!

Secondly: The missing Calendar is back again and is linking to the Calendar with entries itself.

After all these updates this week, I'm taking some time off. Need some well deserved resting time. For the time being, the download manager will be using the default blue-ish theme due to some issues with the Green Themes. I'll get into that after the weekend ;)

I couldn't help myself: Fixed the download manager and reordered all the downloads to make it more easy to browse them.

While I was fixing some minor issues with the active themes, I decided to add a few new theme/color sets to the site:
Bisdak World Green
Omega Green
Leaf Green Blaze
Lucky Charms

These can be selected from the menu (like before) without using your Profile settings.

Removed the Lucky Charm theme due to lay-out problems and fixed two minor lay-out issues in the 'Latest member' and 'Please donate!' blocks. Shows now OK in both IE and FF

Added some lay-out changes to the PM message sending system. Now it will show an extra notification when you send a PM to another user. On the receiving end an improved dialog message will show the sender's name and topic.

A new visual notification icon has been added to the navigation-bar to show there are new unread PM's.

Added the option to resize the Reply, Quick Reply and PM input boxes. Might come in handy when posting large hunks of text.

Replaced the old shoutbox, it was no longer supported. The new one supports auto-scrolling and finally it's more customizable for all the other themes

Fixed some missing images for the BCC Codes when posting
