Title: ending spring 2010 anime and summer 2010 preview
Post by: janus on June 29, 2010, 05:32:34 AM
This spring anime season is about to end, I would like to know what anime you watched and liked, and what new anime are you looking forward to this summer

working!!
A comedy, slice of life with a little romance
definitely loved, this had me smiling at every episode, lovable characters with everyone strange in their own way

kissxsis
ugh, I wanted to watch this one because I've read the manga before, but by then I remembered why I stopped reading the manga. if you like an all ecchi anime with harem here is your ticket

Angel beats
it feels like The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya but with more supernatural and more story very enjoyable

Mayoi Neko Overrun!
Stereotypical harem anime with fan-service, they give you a back-story of some of the characters, show you the importance of staying together as a family and having a home. I liked watching it and its recommended to the people who aren't tired of this type of anime

Arakawa Under the Bridge
A funny anime where a successful businessman with a perfect life enters a world of wacky people with no common sense that live under a bridge. I like how characters here interact with eachother and one of the few animes that makes me literary LOL. I like how this anime little by little tells you the reason why is they came to live under the bridge and gives you a life's lesson.

B Gata H Kei
the concept is kinda strange but here it is: a virgin girl who wants to become more experienced by having 100 sex friends. But the problem is, that she is so inexperienced that she can't even get on with the most bland and normal guy and its where the love development begins. This shows that a girl can be as perverted as a guy. this was one of the random Anime that I started to watch but it didn't grab my attention as much so I dropped it

Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou
Action, Comedy, Ecchi, Fantasy, Magic, School, Shounen, Harem this is very self explanatory? a story about some guy who enters a magic academy Harry Potter-esque who wants to becomes a priest only to find out he was destined to become a Demon King. After the first half of the series there is less fanservice and more action that gets you pumped up to see the conclusion. this are if you like this kind of anime give it a go

well enough of that now for the summer 2010 preview

currently I'm looking forward for the continuation of sekirei but I'll have to wait and see for the other ones

Edit: don't like MAL much?

I've only this year -- this Spring -- begun watching anime as it is released. So far, I'm doing just one series ...

K-On!!
Only up to the mid-pont in the 24-episode follow-up to the original 12(13?)-episode first season. A slower pace is evident as KyotoAnimation stretches the material. Otherwise, more of the same sweet light confectionary that made the show a massive hit in its first season. Bonus points to KyoAni for getting the musical details right (a plus for a musical-equipment freak like me). May be too fuwa-fuwa for some tastes, but it's sweet not saccharine.

I'm still so new to this that I'm only now discovering streaming sites for anime (and am being cajoled towards downloading episodes).

Members on another board I visit -- the Lucky Star Shrine Forum -- are speaking very highly of AngelBeats as well, Janus.

Thanks for the reviews and the idea for this thread! Helps me find new anime!

once you jump the current season bandwagon you'll realize that there is one common enemy, waiting a week for a new episode, specially if it involves a cliffhanger. Sure, you may breeze through something that you like that has already been aired or released, but waiting is something you'll have to get used to.

I was watching K-on! when it first aired. It wasn't something I looking for at the time so I dropped it, and I haven't seen it since. I would probably try it eventually.

I've watched/am wathing:
Angel Beats
B Gata H Kei
K-On!!
Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama
Kiss X Sis
Mayoi Neko Overrun

All this with some Air Gear, One Piece and Fairy Tail on the side. xD

I'm not really that hyped about the next season, but I might watch a few of them.
The Legend of Legendary Heroes, Amagami SS,  Ookamisan no Shishinin no Nakamatachi, Asobi ni Iku Yo, Seitokai Yakuindomo, Shukufuku no Campanella and Digimon. :p

I'm new at watching fresh releases too, but fortunently the other forum I go to keep releases popping out, so I always get the epis soon to download. xD
I started downloading anime because of that too. :p

This is what I'm watching (or watched)... of the spring releases

Angel Beats!
- This... it's on hold mostly because I didn't like it that much... but maybe I'll give it another try before I drop it...

Arakawa Under the Bridge
- Very good... you need to have a good sense of (japanese) humor to see this... or else... good thing they are going to make a second season... ;D

Fairy Tail
- I don't remember if this was a Spring release... but anyway... very good... may become the next One Piece... ;D

Heroman
- The story of a boy that... ah... I don't like it... XD

Kaichou wa Maid-sama!
- I don't know how this is going to end but... this is probably going on my favorite list... enough said... ;D

Katanagatari
- 1 episode 40min long each month for 12 months... epic...

Kiss x Sis (TV)
- Loved it... ;D

Mayoi Neko Overrun!
- Weird one... I liked it but at the same time I didn't... mostly because of the story... (it didn't have one) ;D

Working!!
- It was an ok series... but it seriously needs a second season.

B Gata H Kei
- Same as above...

Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou
- It started ok... but after episode 2... it just became a complete mess... it's sad... because it reminded me of the forum Deathmatch... LoL

For this summer:

Amagami SS

Asobi ni Iku yo!

Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu (The legend of the Legendary heroes)

Highschool of the dead

Seitokai Yakuindomo

Sengoku Basara Two

And probably some others... unlike you I watch almost everything that is new... at least the 1st episode...

Bakemonogatari, one of the best I've seen as lately, the main female character is rather hilarious in an evil sense.

And the new season is officially underway, starting with Ookamisan as the first release and Amagami SS as the second.

Both look good, but still too young to judge. :S

Amagami SS looks like KimiKiss and Hatsukoi Limited combined... and it looks good... but the title of the 1st episode, Morishima Haruka Arc Chapter 1, placed a warning flag for me... but as long as this doesn't end like School Days... is fine by me... XD

It's only the 1st episode but I'm placing my bet that the chosen one will be this girl... XD
(http://cdn.myanimelist.net/images/characters/12/93780.jpg)

I like her... XD

Edit: Now I know why it raised flag to me... it's based on a dating sim... so I'm guessing each arc will be 4 episodes long. (6 girls total)

I heard so many bad things about the ending to School Days and I've finally reached episode 11. From what I could tell,

and now I have no idea what to expect from the final episode (I'm going to watch it tomorrow morning :D )

I'll try Falling star's advice in having a sampler order to try to see if there is anything good this season. I've almost missed good anime like kimi ni todoke, and it made me think how much good anime I might of missed.

Just finished watching the 1st episode of Seitokai Yakuindomo... and I must say... The weirdness is strong in this one... (not what I was expecting... LoL) and it looks like its going to be more of a promo for the manga than anything else... Lots of bleeped words... lots of sexual references... even references to the things girls use when they have their period... and all that in just 21 minutes... if this keeps up... I'll start reading the manga... XD

I just have to say... WTFBBQ?! ;D

I don't know but, a anime that has more blood than the Red Cross blood bank... add to that the fact that its about zombies and stuff... ( its not even scientifically possible)... and I would drop such anime right here and now...

But, add some nice fan service (pantie shots and stuff) and I'm in for the ride... yet I don't see much more fan service coming out of this after every girl is turned into a Zombie...  8|  :r

I just hope this thing doesn't fall on his head... thus killing it... (because its a zombie anime) ;D

ahh but some of the iconic enemies from Silent hill are the nurses, they symbolize the fear/distress and sexual desire from the protagonist. Imagine walking in a dark and creepy room pointing your flashlight to a faceless sexy nurse walking in a unbalanced  manner and with a knife in her hand.
http://silenthill.wikia.com/wiki/Nurse (http://silenthill.wikia.com/wiki/Nurse)

in another note
I think I'll stay with Seitokai Yakuindomo, Ookami-san, Amagami-SS and Sekirei ~Pure Engagement~ for now

Yes... that's probably the reason why I hate zombies... damn video games... I know it said on the cover  that it was for over 15, but hell, porn dvd's (or VHS back then) said for 18+ and that didn't stop me... Never should have played Resident Evil (original) alone in a dark room... stupid fixed camera angles... go around the corner and Boom... something would scare the shit out of me... ah... memories... still remember jumping so high out of the chair that I fell on the ground... XD

Though I'm not one to get too caught up about it at the moment.
If I see something scary it just usually makes it harder for me to sleep for a few days. >_<

If I see something scary it just usually makes it harder for me to sleep for a few days. >_<

That doesn't happen to me at all. I lie down and think to myself: "Damn, that was scary! LOL!!! Okay, time to sleep. It was just a movie/game anyways. It's fiction" and I fall asleep.

Sometimes of course it's hard to fall asleep but for different reasons. Sometimes it's because I'm anxious about something and others it's because I can't block certain images from my head (love troubles to be more precise).

And there's even those times where we're sick or someone's making noises xD

Post by: FallinG_StaR on July 12, 2010, 05:04:25 AM
Well there's nothing much now that scares me or keeps me awake.
Maybe just one thing keeps tormenting me when I'm trying to sleep and that's... death... yes... I get really bummed out when I think about it...  it's not always... it's just happens sometimes when watching the news or hearing about other peoples deaths gets me thinking so much about it that I have a hard time trying to get to sleep.
I sleep during the day so... yeah... it's hard to forget something someone just told you 5 minutes before you go to bed.

Not that I care much about the people that die... what makes me worry is what happens after you die? Do you see the light at the end of the tunnel... or is it more like turning of a TV... puff... and all goes black.

Then comes a Juuden-chan (http://myanimelist.net/anime/5973/Fight_Ippatsu!_Juuden-Chan!!) and charges me up... and I am good again... all happy and perverted... ;D And I can then go back to sleep dreaming about my harem... :P

Post by: cata on July 12, 2010, 10:58:41 AM
Death scares me, too but it's not like EVERYDAY (LoL). I mean, if I think of my dad's death, I end up crying and HE'S ALIVE!!! xD  I mean, I love my dad so it's normal for me to cry for him but... why would I imagine him dying or dead? Probably it's because I feel like my life depends on him since my mom's kinda dead to me and from my perspective my stepmother is a female dog (you know what I meant, don't you?) I'm over 18 (a few months xD) but I still can't support myself so whichever way I would choose (stepmom or real mom) I would still be effed up.

Then there are times where I think: "man, this person will someday die". Guess who this person his? My FRIENDS!!! I mean, is this normal? Just randomly thinking that one day they'll die? The good thing is that everytime these thoughts come up, I become happy because I want to enjoy them more (this sounded SO wrong).

And then of course are the times when I think of my own death but when that happens it stays for a LONG time, like weeks thinking about it at night. But eventually it goes away and leaves me alone... until it comes back again. I haven't these for quite a while and I think it has to do on your mood. Besides my stepmom problems, I can't say I'm unhappy because I graduated from high school, I might go to Law School (PRAY, WISH ME LUCK, ETC), I've tons of friends, I can watch Anime and play games almost all day, I have a laptop, I have food, I have a house, I have a bed, I'm not in love with or crushing on anyone (better having no one than someone who's not worth it =D) and I'm ALIVE!!! =D

I think that when you die you feel it (except if you're unconscious). Like, I think that people start seeing black and hearing less and unable to breath. It must be horrible. And as far as what happens when death comes... Who knows? I'll find out when I get there ;)

I also think that the older you become, you either get more scared or less. It all depends on how you deal with life problems.

Oh I forgot to say this: men tend to fear death more than women do. I believe this is true because my dad freaks out when he thinks of someone close dying. LoL

Sorry for the wall of text.

Do I even have to say it? Ok... I will... Spoiler Alert...

http://randomc.net/2010/07/22/amagami-ss-04

I was very surprised to see how this episode ended... I now have a idea what they intend to do with this thing... one part there got me thinking about School Days... (hotel part) but all went well... XD
A video game turned anime... and a anime turned video game... that's what they are trying to do. Finish one arc... and... ok lets start the game again and chose another girl... I now wonder... will they all be Happy endings... or will there be a bad ending???

I was wondering about that last part too (about there only being happy endings). :o
Guess we'll have to wait and see, though I'm said that I'll have to wait 4 more weeks for the girl I want to see the most. :(

By the way, did anyone elsee watch the first episode of this one (http://myanimelist.net/anime/9205/Kaichuu!)? It'll only take 6 minutes of your life anyway (2 3-minute ONAs), I'm sure it won't be too big a bother even if you don't like it. :P

HAPPY.....oh wait, wrong thread

currently a few at the same time
I was planning on dropping Mitsudomoe, since I didn't like the art style nor the gags. I don't like the chipmunk teeth very well, two of the main characters are perverted but in the guy type of way. The gag in episode 2 where some of the characters were covered with mucus or piss it reminded me of some American cartoons. the third episode was about misunderstandings, it was very funny and I hope it gets better from there.

Asobi ni Iku yo! is about a girl alien that comes from space that is now living in the main character's home and that boy has a girl childhood friend and a teacher that knows him well. it seem all generic right, except for the twist, the teacher and the childhood friend are part of some kind of organization trying to capture the alien. It doesn't seem very exiting for me but I'm going to see where this one heads

If you're tanking about the one I posted, then that's all the plans there are for that so far. :S
Why they decided to make something so short is beyond me though...
What do you gain from doing 2 3 minute "episodes"? D:

Asobi ni Iku yo!
Well his childhood friend is a CIA wannabe... and works as a spy for the agency... His teacher is a member in a weird organization... that doesn't like the fact that a beautiful girl with cat ears and tail be the first alien contact. Then there's a 3rd organization that wants to kill him and the cat girl alien... but the girl that uses the special suit to carry out the assassination mission is his school friend and she likes him...

If this is confusing just watch the first 2 episodes it will be easier to understand.

The weird part is that except for the organizations the rest of the world (Okinawa) doesn't seem to much bothered by the aliens walking down their streets...

I just don't understand why use the CIA... it's so 80's... ;D Couldn't they come up with some other agency... like CDU or something.
