Very very bad right now. Took a full 2 minutes to reach the front page, and often cannot reach another page without refreshing once or twice. So, I thought I should (try to) post about this in the interest of documentation of the problem. That's all.
(I think I saw a recent post about this, as an aside in another thread, so obviously the problem is known)
Cheers, all!

I've been getting '500 Internal Server Error' or something. Hope it settles down.
-
I was getting these errors a lot yesterday, like 60% of the time. This problem has been around for awhile, but it got worse yesterday.
-
I tried posting something last time I logged in about this issue... but the website just went blank... and only today (now) I was able to enter the website and login... XD
-
It's like Lum-Chan said, it happens sometimes. Just do what I do, ignore it and come back later. :P
-
When it happens to me, I only come back the next day.
-
I was forced to do exactly that... because the page didn't even want to open. Xd

I have only had a Server not found error when I have lost my internet connection which I get quite a bit; which I didn't used to have before I switched to TalkTalk. I am now on a two year contract because I did not pay for the box and there is a pull out fee. I have an internet download speed of 1-2 megabytes per second which used to be 4mb/s.

That's not a lag problem. A lag problem is when you ARE connected to the Internet and the Forum either takes a long time to load OR doesn't open at all, while the rest of the websites load just fine.

Looks like it's a little better than before. Still working with Strato AG on this. Currently I'm cheking settings and cleaning up the fora. It's a lot of work on my free Sunday afternoon ;D
-
Hmm... I don't know if its only me but I'm having lag issues again... or whatever it might be... It usually works fine but this week the forum (for me) is sluggish... takes me around 20 to 25 seconds to move around... from topic A to topic B usually it takes 2 seconds max.
-
Well, it's not normal at least. Right now just lag. I don't see any broken pages.

Don't worry, Senpai, for you weren't the only one suffering this kind of problem
I am sure our Fearless Leader is working on a solution as we speak

I was thinking of posting this. xD
I'm a lag victim, too. O.o
LoL

It's slow for me as well. Just when I come back after months of absence :0

I'm very sorry for all the lagging problems we're all experiencing at the forum. I've got some slow news, tho. It seems to be a rather odd problem on the database server itself at Strato AG. The server who runs all the databases seems to be overcrowded by too many databases. I made a suggestion to move at least half of all those databases to another server of to check their load-balancing. The most problems occur in the weekends but this should not happen when all the thingies at their part were running ok.
I really do hope they will/can fix this soon. Otherwise I have to migrate (again!) to another hosting-provider with all the hassle it comes with.
At the moment the lag is around 20 seconds for little or no use of the database (just 30-40 queries). But the sad thing is the weekend. This is a real drama, even for me on a big pipe.
I'll keep you guys/galls posted on this.
-
Thanks, Lum-chan!
-
Before there was a bit of a lag, now there is a lot, I've justed started using the site again yesterday and I've noticed a new time lag problem in which pages take 20-30 seconds to load.
-
I just got a call from the guys at Strato AG. They have migrated me to a newer/faster platform. Unfortunate the gain in speed is not that good. It is still slow.
Now I'm in the process of cleaning out old db codes and other unused stuff. There are still popping up errors in the error-logs of the forum and I'm currently working on this. It looks like some sort of coding error which I need to investigate and correct if possible. This might take some time as I have a rather busy schedule the next weeks but I try to fix this in the late hours (as usual hahaha).
The best news of all is the following: I'm in the process of preparing the migrating of the whole website and sub-domains of my current webhosting-package to a new VirtualServer at Strato AG. The speed increase will be very noticeable. I'm not sure when exactly I will move the whole thing but somewhere in Q1 or Q2 of 2011 this will all happen \(^_^)/. Unfortunate the monthly fee will be a bit higher but the gain in speed will compensate a lot imho.
-
Thanks Lum-chan the time lag is now about . Looking forward to the move to Strato AG.
-
Thanks Lum-chan! You're the best! :D
-
This site is still slow for me, but it's good to hear that you're doing something about it (which is no surprise, keeping this forum smooth was always Lum-chan's priority ^_^)
I can donate whenever you're ready to switch servers :)
-
I hope you can solve this problem, Lum-chan. I you need help with hosting, i can host lum-chan.com. I have a dedicated server with Intel® Core™ i7-920 and 8 GB RAM.

Yes, it is still very slow, the server location of Strato is in Germany and I'm in Germany (not a international speed problem).
-
Yes, the lag remains but at least it's being taken care of. =)
-
I've noticed that the forum is very quiet right now, I think that its because of the time lag. The sooner you get a fast server the better Lum-chan.
-
Still it is very slow.
"Page created in 23.613 seconds with 29 queries." on the Forum Home Page. The most time, it needs 17-20 seconds.
I hope you see my previous post entry @ Lum-chan.
edit: now it takes sometims 30 seconds: "Page created in 28.059 seconds with 29 queries."
-
I know of these lagging problems. It's not a connection/speed problem. It a problem om the DB server. In the 1st quarter of 2011 I'll migrate the whole site to a Virtual Server; this will speed-up the site. Just hang on for the time being on this crappy DB server.
The loading times varies from 17-33 seconds but at this moment I can't do anything about this, unfortunate. But as I said before: It's all in the works now. The upgrade will be easy with only a few hours downtime and I'll try to keep it as short as possible. If it works on what I'm planning, you won't even notice the move to a new server ;)
-
New record: Sometimes it needs 99 seconds.
"Page created in 99.98 seconds with 41 queries."
-
Time lag problems are fixed. Thanks for your patience _/-\o_
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!
-
Hurray :)
-
thank you very much, every time I came to this website my browser would get sluggish and it would take time to load the pages, even getting error 500
-
Thank you so much!!!
-
Zip! Zop! Zowie!
Thank you, Mister Lum-chan SIR!
-
* Cosmic King bows down *
Thank you, Fearless Leader

I knew you would be able to fix it :D Thanks a bunch Lum-chan!

Thanks guys/galls!
I'll close this topic as problems have been solved ;)
