When I look at my own artwork in the gallery it adds to the view count every time. I think it should only count when a different user looks at a piece of art to give a true representation of how popular something is.
-
in other words, it goes up for everyone's view except the uploader's (While still allowing it to go up each time the same person views it?)
-
No, it goes up for everyone's view including the uploader.
-
I was asking if that's what u wanted
-
He means he wants that number to show how many people have seen the picture, not how many times the picture has been viewed.
That would be pretty hard to do for non-members though, it would require an IP track, and it's a lot more work then it's worth... :S
-
not only that, it defeats the purpose of showing "popularity"
If the view count only goes up for a new person, it wouldn't represent popularity, it would only be "how many people of seen this"
Just because a person sees it, does not make it popular.
It's the number of times a person RE views something that determines true popularity.

Kroptik is correct. It would make thing a bit slower due to extra db queries. Perhaps in a future version of the Gallery. I'll check with the author.

That would be even harder. x.x
Besides, I've never heard of something like that. o.o

What's harder?

I quoted for a reason. xD
Read the last line in the quote. :P
Edit: Lol, forget it.
I thought you were the topic creator, my bad. :P

UruseiNeo is right. The view count should go up every time something is viewed.
I don't think it should ever count when the uploader view their own work.

Author won't can't fix this due to all the extra work and additions it needs to the code itself. I can't do it as well, so we have to live with this, I guess.
