Title: Unzipping a japanese file
Post by: GiovaneDinamitardo on September 29, 2009, 11:32:13 PM
I found a lots of hent.... [ahem].... "INTERESTING MANGA"   ::) about uruseiyatsura but they're all zip files.

When I try to unzip them..... SURPRISE: "THE FILE IS EMPTY" !!!!

This is not true: the file is well full, the point is that winzip ("MY" winzip) is not able to manage japanese's file names.

Could you suggest something to use to unzip them ?

Thank you in advance.

Try WinRAR. http://www.rarlab.com/ (http://www.rarlab.com/)

If that fails you, then try 7-Zip. http://www.7-zip.org/ (http://www.7-zip.org/)

I myself use WinRAR for pretty much everything.  ;)

Yup, if WinRAR and an 7zip says it's corrupt, then it's corrupt. Did you get your hent... ahem.... "manga" from a torrent or shady looking site?

Do check if the file size matches with what the original source states (if it does not, then it is clearly a corrupt/incomplete file)

Another (yet very unusual) problem is that images that the Hent..."Gentlemen's Entertainment Magazine" contains may be written in Japanese symbols, making the extraction near impossible

Hope it is not the second one,Uncle Giovane

why shouldn't the program be able to extract them becouse of the file name?? i never heard of such a problem.
Uhm, try installing the japanese language support then, if the problem is related with the file name, that should fix it.
If that doesn't work too, i agree that the file is corrupted.
Which OS are you using, anyway?
