But why?

I havn't found an episode where she says something like this: just into the manga there a reference into the episode "bitter tears, sweet potatoes" (when Ataru burns a garlic to make her run away).

May I miss something ?

As for the reason, it could be simply what I heard from watching "Karin" where Vampires dislike it because they have a stronger sense of SMELL.

If it's not the taste of the garlic that bothers them, then it's probably more like an allergy.

Ya, your right. I'd only do that if I was near a REALLY STRONG perfume or something.
