Title: [SOLVED] Postcount bug - was: Bug Report
Post by: UruseiNeo on December 27, 2008, 01:23:54 AM
Dunno if this is already apparent but...

when the post count gets above 1,000 it shows as "1.000" with a decimal instead of a comma. So currently my post count says "1.007" and says "Next Posting Level (Chibi) in 8.993 posts." And I am SO not below Chibi.

The posts per day also changed from a decimal to comma "3,214 per day" if that were true my hands would break off.

It's most annoying in that u dunno how many posts to a new level, if it weren't for that I don't think anyone would care cause they still get what it's supposed to mean.

Odd, as I look at your profile info, you're still Casual Otaku with 1059 posts. probably a forum hiccup?

Yes, it does say "Casual Otaku" but that wasn't the part I was complaining about.

It still says "Posts:     1.059 (3,106 per day)" and "Next Posting Level (Chibi) in 8.941 posts."

Hmmm. Very strange. Looks like some kind of error in the calculations or output thereof. I'll take a look into that as soon as I have completed the domain-transfer.

Is this since the update to SMF 1.1.7 ?

Thanks!

This has been happening as long as I can remember. I noticed it with other users who exceeded 1000 posts. So it could have been going on for almost a year now.

I mean the section of this forum.

example

"[MISSING]
[a girl] Hey but...  I KNOW YOU !!
[the voice, so excited, giggling] I'm really so famous ?!? [and step so close to her]
[the girl] Y.. YOU'RE ATARU MOROBOSHI !! THE GREATEST LECHER OF THE WHOLE UNIVERSE !!!

THIS IS REPETED ALSO INTO THE SECOND CHAPTER !!!

Everything gone the pot !!!

Edit:
Which thread(s) do have this problem? Maybe I can fix this. Perhaps I can restore this from a partial backup.
If you can provide me the threads which have problems, I can fix them with some copy & paste work from the old database.

Hi Giovane and others I might forget,

I repaired all fanfiction posts. I spent the last 5 hours to repair these posts with the correct content.
The strangest part was the fact that all posts were available in the database but weren't shown in the post. Probably due to the previous 'Diublepost' mod which became invalid with SMF 1.1.6 in combination with the maximal character count of 20000. I have changed this too. DoublePosting is allowed again (need to recheck this in case of an error).

These problems didn't show up before the migration to the new database-server, but just after restoring the backups. How odd can it be?

Anywayz, I hope I fixed them all. If you or others find corrupted of just empty posts, please let me know. Just post the link to that page here and I'll fix this asap. I need you guys to help me out with this, so keep posting any errors/malfunctions and/or corrupted postings!

Ooooh, I think I get it. Back when double posts were allowed, a post as long as Giovane's chapter (or any other chapter for fanfics" would be pretty long, and double posting a second chapter to it would bring it over the character limit.

I remember that, cause when I dbl posted 2 chapters I couldn't edit them after cause the total characters went over the limit. So I started using a second account to post between chapters.

So when the posts were carried over for the new server, they got cut off cause they were over the limit. Is this what happened?

Yes, that's correct. I have changed this. Double Posting is possible again.

You're welcome  ;D

Also, I took the liberty to check all your stories on odd characters. They existed so I edited all your posts to get rid of these as well. About 99,9 % should be fixed now.

An old mod was causing this. Problem went away when uninstalling that mod.
