Title: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: TooCool on September 30, 2008, 06:11:51 AM
Heres some info and articles i found regarding the Rumiko Takahashi event, called- "Its a Rumic World".
Two OVAs or special eps were released, one of Ranma 1/2, "Nightmare! The Incense of Spring Sleep", and one of Inu Yasha, "Black Tessaiga" ("Kuroi Tessaiga").

But sadly no Urusei Yatsura OVA, special episode or anything was released or announced.

Heres an article from Furinkan with total coverage of the event-
http://www.furinkan.com/features/articles/itsarumicworld.html

Here are some articles regarding the Ranma 1/2 and Inu Yasha releases-

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-08-02/new-ranma-short-debuts-at-takahashi-tokyo-event

But there was a special opening trailer or intro featuring the characters of Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2 and Inu Yasha-
http://www.youtube.com/v/kf953nWYSlA&hl=en&fs=1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kf953nWYSlA)
http://www.youtube.com/v/eO52uxW4pcQ&hl=en&fs=1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eO52uxW4pcQ) (with subtitles)

Im beginning to wonder if an UY movie or OVA will be released anytime soon or not.
I really hope so, but luck doesnt seem to be on our side.

So, any thoughts regarding this event, and what not?

Go back  and re-read the quote about the new Urusei Yatsura epiosde (originally brought to us by Uncle Giovane from a recent trip to Furinkan.com):

New Urusei Yatsura Episode
A new episode of Urusei Yatsura was made with the intention of showing it at the It's a Rumic World event. The episode wasn't finished in time for the gallery show, but it will tour Japan and was directed by vetern UY director Tsukasa Dokite. It will soon be going on a nationwide tour to Sendai, Niigata, Nagoya, Kyoto, and Takamatsu. Thanks to Toshio for the news! Source: Tsukasa Dokite's Messageboard

That news story is still on Furinkan's site so I don't think it was posted in error.

if yer trying to say that its going to be released later, than i dont disagree or disbelieve that. and ive read it before, and also believe that if its really so, a UY ep maybe released.

But im sad that nothing was released on UY at this event, and also if a tour or release of UY or any other Rumiko anime/manga were to be, than they wud've atleast announced so or make mention of it, or atleast they should have if it Is true. But i dont think they did, so its not even official, sadly, even if its on Dokite's messageboard.

But i really do hope so, that it happens, soon.

Normally, I'd say that Ataru has survived worse or something like that but really... Ranma + InuYasha's attacks are on a whole nother level.

74. Is there a God?

Rumiko: No

I find that a little offensive. But I'm offended by the person who asked that question cause it's like her reply would be the absolute truth.

He COULD have asked "Do you think there is a god?"

That would mean her answer is her opinion but the original sounds like her answer is fact.

Must have very good memories of that place... LoL

About the God thing... She's japanese... they have temples for hundreds of "Gods"... And maybe she isn't Catholic or Christian...

Btw, from some of her answers it looks like she doesn't like being around to many people... just a small group of friends... and the rest she avoids...

Thanks for the link, TooCool. Interesting to actually hear her speak (I'd read somewhere that she was an alto...).

As for her more provocative answers to the Hundred Questions: the yes-or-no format forbids a more nuanced answer to a given question. Too bad -- I'd like to see a few of those topics explored more deeply.

"October 22nd
New UY Episode Finally Finished
Tsukasa Dokite, the director of the new Urusei Yatsura OVA, has announced via his blog that after many delays the special is finally finished and ready for release. Initially Dokite estimated the special would take 16,000 drawings to complete, but the finished product worked out to around 17,600, though he admits he is baffled about why it required more. No word on release dates unfortunately. Thanks to Frogisis for the news! Source: Tsukasa Dokite's Messageboard "

Its  knid  of  wierd  that  they  ended  up  with  more  drawings  than  they  wanted.  But  some  how  it  makes me  happy.  Because  it  means that  the  people  that  made  the  ova  are  fans  of  the  show. So  it  have  to  be  good.

Let's do a little animation-production math here.

If you do an animated short, and you go "fully-animated", you are making a new drawing for each frame of film. At 24 frames-per-second, 60 seconds per minute, and seven minutes running time (the length of a standard WarnerBrothers' short) ... you wind up with a little over 10,000 individual drawings.

The production houses can save time and money by going with a "limited animation" format: NOT using a new drawing for every frame of film, holding a pose for a couple frames or more, sometimes animating only a mouth or eyes over a stock-steady head pose. The downside to it is that too much "limited" can lead to choppy animation at its extreme end, ruining the experience for the audience.

That the animators of the new UruseiYatsura episode wound up using more drawings than they planned is a very good sign indeed. It means the new episode will be better-made, with more fluid motion from the characters.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: Kroptik on October 24, 2008, 11:23:22 PM
You forgot to meantion recicling frames, like when a character is running and you see the background repeating itself.

And I agree that it's a good thing they ended up with more drawings. Can't wait to see the result. And the plot. ;D

I hadn't seen that intro yet. Absolutely hilarious.

As far as mathing out the UY episode, you're assuming there's only one drawing per frame. Depending on animation techniques, they could be using separate drawings for the characters and backgrounds, instead of just drawing each frame as a single drawing. But recycling character frames, and recycling backgrounds could throw the math off completely.

Hey, Sid!

Didn't feel like writing an essay on the mathmatics of animation and techniques used to economize in Limited Animation (and you all know how well I could have), so I skipped over all that. Back to the central point: they used more "drawings" than they expected to make the new UruseiYatsura episode, and this gives us some measure of hope that the finished product will be better for it.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: sidzero on November 23, 2008, 06:22:48 PM
No matter what mathematics you do, without knowing what techniques are used, and really, what the story actually is (or more specifically what characters are in it), you can't really know much of anything from knowing how many drawings they used. That's all I'm saying.

Plus it could just mean they underestimated the level of work involved.

That post was very offtopic... what "previous post" are you referring to? You haven't posted in this topic?

We're on topic, and that topic is Rumic World. More specifically, the Urusei Yatsura OVA that was supposed to be done for Rumic World.

i don't think so about it, because at least, japanese folks always do them the japanese way, and imo it is the best way of drawing.

yes, but we 'grew up' watching them drawn in one way and then, we see this way, is one change that won't fall in the best graces for everyone.

Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: sidzero on November 25, 2008, 12:30:44 AM
Here's how to look at this. Did you accept movie 6? If so, then I don't see how you couldn't possibly accept a new OVA or what not, unless they completely changed the character designs. Considering the intro video in this thread, I honestly expect that it will probably be in a style more like that.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: UruseiNeo on November 25, 2008, 12:33:36 AM
I accepted the 6th movie. Wasn't that hard. Guess that's a good sign for me when the ova comes out ^_^

i accepted movie 6 too by some reasons:

They are growing up, and look more adult. Lum is so beautiful there!
Now, i'll just know if i accept or don't the ova, once i get it, but i'll be jumping to put my hand in it. :P

I like Anime more because it shows emotions better and the funny scenes are funnier in film than in a comic book or any book. I enjoy Manga, too so don't get me wrong. I know Manga is very important because without it, we don't get a lot of the Anime we know/watch/watched.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

my preference also points to anime.
manga doesn't always means it will be anime too. well, many times we get them but different from the original manga.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: UruseiNeo on December 03, 2008, 03:11:21 AM
some anime don't start as manga either. But I think that ones that start out as manga have a good chance as anime.

Me and some friends are working on a manga right now, at least the story, not actually drawing it. I need someone who can do that.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: cata on December 03, 2008, 12:11:54 PM
I didn't said that EVERY Anime comes from Manga. I said most of it. There are of course Manga that never turn into Anime and Anime that come from "scratch".
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: Kroptik on December 03, 2008, 02:17:38 PM
And anime that comes from videogames, let's not forget about that. :P
Think Lamune (Game > Anime) and Clannad (Game > Novel > Manga > Anime).
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: FallinG_StaR on December 04, 2008, 05:09:25 AM

So which animes are now in your top 5 list besides Clannad?
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: sidzero on December 04, 2008, 10:00:42 PM
UY Ecchi? Barely. Compared to something like Love Hina, To Love Ru, or Mahou Sensei Negima, almost not at all.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: Kroptik on December 04, 2008, 11:13:23 PM
That's exactly what I meant sid. xD

The only ecchi moment I can think of is when Ataru wins the tag game in the first episode.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: FallinG_StaR on December 05, 2008, 02:29:14 AM
Well I don't want to go Offtopic but my top 5 is probably (at least for now) this:

#1. Clannad & Clannad After Story (airing)
#2. Ah! My Goddess
#3. Dragon Ball & DBZ
#4. Card Captor Sakura  :@
#5. Code Geass & Code Geass R2

Well I guess I can put every other anime (not listed) on 5th... Because If I see it to the end... its because it deserves a Top 5 place... (that's probably the reason why Inuyasha isn't in my lists) XD I'm curently watching animes that are very serious contenders for a Top 5 rank... LoL

Childish? Cardcaptor Sakura is probably one of the most perverted animes and mangas I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. I loved it (not because it was perverted, but because it was good).
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

Perverted? Maybe because of some of the dresses Tomoyo makes for Sakura, yes... :P

My biggest problem is going to get used to Sakura's Japanese voice. After you hear her portuguese voice, her Japanese one sounds weird.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

Cardcaptor Sakura? Her portuguese voice is annoying, her mouse friend is annoying and the end totally sucks (I cried a lot and I was really pissed off because it wasn't an happy ending...).

Anyways, I respect your opinions. :)

Perverted?

Well it was bad enough that they had to literally cut the anime series in half to edit it for American television (which is why it didn't do so well here, all the edits made it hard to follow). A lot of it had to with the fact that three of the main characters are 10 years old, and they're being put in sexual situations. Even in Japan, that's perverse.

But CLAMP wasn't afraid to go there, touch on things that I know for a fact that 10 year olds think about and do, despite social taboos on it. I have to admit, that's part of the reason I like CLAMP's works, they really push what they can get away.

If you only watched it in portuguese then true, it wasn't a happy ending. I suggest you watch the second movie though, it is the real ending and it's not a sad one. xD

I don't think I'll watch Cardcaptor Sakura again because I'm tired of type of story. There's a cute guy and a cute "luckless" girl that are meant for eachother but he doesn't like her that way untill later. Then there's a weird creature to help the girl save the world with cards, magic powers, magic guitares, flutes, etc. It's just the same thing over and over again, the only thing they change is the characters and a little bit the main plot.

Btw, the ending in the anime sucked... but in the manga collection, that I have, the ending is good... at least its happy... and so CUTE... XD

One last thing on Card Captor Sakura... it's the ONLY "magical girl" anime/manga I can stand. Well, except for Puni Puni Poemi, but that's a parody and a spin off of the ultra-awesome Excel Saga, so it doesn't count.

The "It's a Rumic World" gallery exhibition will return, this time at the Mitsukoshi department store in Sendai. The expo will run from Dec. 23rd through Jan. 5th and will most likely mark the debut of the new Urusei Yatsura anime which wasn't finished in time for the Tokyo debut. Source: Websunday.net

Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

It's  probably  refering  to  just  one  episode  special.  It's  very  unlikely  that  they  are  going  to  restart  the  series.  And  even  if  they  do  they  are  problably  going  to  do  the  same  thing  that  most  new  anime  shos  do.  Selling  them  self  in  sex  appeal.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: sidzero on December 10, 2008, 02:19:51 AM
I hope they don't restart the series. That would defeat the purpose of all my work on UYRemix.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: FallinG_StaR on December 10, 2008, 04:01:47 AM
When they say anime they could be refering to just one anime... not a anime series... If you get my point...
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: oni on December 10, 2008, 04:25:11 AM
If  they  restart  the  anime  series  then  it  woud  probably  ruin  the  series.  A  show  about  the  eithies  then  remaking  for  this  century  would  work.  Its  like  remaking  the  finstones  with the  dark  ages.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: TooCool on December 10, 2008, 07:57:55 AM
well, if there was ever to RESTART the series that would no-doubt suck, and i know thats never ever gonna happen, 195-eps cant just be written off like that.
however, a separate and new or continuation is something very well possible, even if not too probable, and id really like that. i think a short new OVA series wud also be nice! i hope they do some day!!
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: oni on December 10, 2008, 07:11:42 PM
I  thing  the  only   way  that  they  might  restart  the  series  susesfully  they  would  have  to  make  it  about  the  children.  Kind  of  like  what  happens  20  years  later  kind  of  thing.  That  might  work.

I wonder what it would be called?
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: sidzero on December 10, 2008, 08:01:53 PM
I don't have a problem with restarting the series. As long as it's not the same old same old, I don't see why anyone would. That's what I'm doing with UYRemix. Trying to make something new out of something old. Familiar characters and (some) familiar situations, but told in a new way, with a lot more going on behind the scenes.

I'm going for more of a "what would it be like if this was really happening" type of thing, as opposed to "gag of the week, with aliens".

It shouldn't take me to long to write up the first 5 chapters (they're already plotted out as it is). I'll let anyone judge for themselves when I get that done.

New Urusei Yatsura Episode Debut
The new episode of Urusei Yatsura has finally had a date schedule for its debut. The new episode will debut on December 23rd at the Sendai location of the "It's a Rumic World!" gallery show. The new special was originally slated to debut alongside the new Ranma ½ and Inuyasha episodes, but the animators fell behind schedule.

You really think someone's going to allow it to go unrecorded, copied a thousand times, subtitled, and pirated? Since when do otaku ever let that happen? Especially since it's so easy to do with modern technology?

Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

It's not that... I have a hard time picturing HOW they go about it. Ruling out filming it with a camera (cause the quality would suck) how would one get a copy?

Do the episodes air on TV or at some convention? That's what I don't get. Cause it's one thing getting a TV series, cause it shows up on TV. But a special premiere sounds like it might take place in a theater type area.

Like I said, have faith in your dorky brethren. These people are obsessive, and that makes them good at what they do. They'll find a way. They always do.

And even if they don't get it at the premiere, it's bound to eventually be released to the public, and when it is, it will most definitely be made available to all.

i think it cuz OVAs arent supposed to be shown public or theatrically, they're direct-to-video.
thats why they're called OVA- original video animation.

I think will be the same case of DBZ Aniversary Special. Could be published directly in website.

I think merchandising is our best friend in this case. They have to sell it in DVD or PPV specials or something just after they shown, then it will be available for everyone and with great quality thanks to the 'pirater' fans.

New UY Episode Finally Finished
Tsukasa Dokite, the director of the new Urusei Yatsura OVA, has announced via his blog that after many delays the special is finally finished and ready for release. I was hoping for an original storyline, but if they were going to adapt any of the manga stories that they hadn't done yet, that one makes sense.

Though I would have preferred Fortress of Fastidiousness (where the boys have to break into Asuka's school) or The Electric Household Guard (the second Shingo story where he's trying to Elope with Ryoko).

This is so funny and it makes you want to play the UY slots game. Sometimes the man who's presenting the game seems to say "Urusei Yastuda" instead of Urusei Yatsura.

The art they used for the charactes looks great even if it's not the original style but the OVA animation looks like this' then it's totally fine. There's just one thing that I wasn't pleased about Lum: she has not green eyes, she has blue ones.

You know, I really hope that one day the Japanese learn to leave the masked heroes to the American comic books. I can only think of one Kamen title that I've ever liked (generally I like Kamen stories as much as I do Mecha stories, which is to say not very much)... Kyuukyoku Hentai Kamen. And Hentai Kamen is one of the greatest superhero characters ever. But how can you go wrong with a guy who's a Kempo ace, inherited a detective's intuition from his dead father, and a pervertedness from his dominatrix mother that gives him superpowers when he wears panties on his face?

Well, I don't know about Canadian kids, but here in the states, we're watching porno and snuff flicks by the time we're 12.

Or maybe that was just me.

I don't know, but I hear if kids these days aren't banging the cute girl across the street and discovering your drug of choice by 5th grade, they're already falling behind. It's a crazy world.

In my case, before I was 10 years old I didn't really know what sexual relations were and after that, it was thanks to porn, porn games and TV and stuff that I began to understand what sex was because every adult used to explain like this: "There's a woman and a man that love eachother very much and the man puts a seed inside the woman's body and a baby is born, nine months later."

How was I supposed to know what it was? xD It's not only human nature, it's animal nature. It's perfectly normal.

I never got the "birds and the bees" story. The school forces it on everything in the seventh grade.

But they used a video... not the kind ur thinking, an "educational" video.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

Birds and the bees, huh? I never got that talk either. Well, unless you count when I was 12 and my dad bought me a bunch of porno vids and told me, "just don't think women are like that." But, I guess he already knew they were teaching sex ed to third graders so he probably assumed I didn't still need the details.

In Portugal there isn't sex education. Usually science teachers teach us about sex in 6th and 9th grade but in a more scientific way.

Falling, online porn games.

UataruY, it's true. Kids are curious and we all know that the best way to discover things is to see for ourselves so thanks to internet, TV and books we can actually know about sex and as we grow up we realize how things are but adding to what we saw and still see to what our parents and teachers said to us about the subject.

Which is why trying to keep sex from the kids is counterproductive. If you make it a taboo, they're going to find out anyway, and when they do it becomes a big deal. That turns into your typical sex obsession. But when the taboo is no longer there, and the parents are open about sexuality with their kids, it looses that mystique and becomes something normal. This is why I think the sexual revolution was a failure. Sure, it did a lot to open the minds of the people about sex, but it didn't go far enough. Anyway, enough rant.

We can't be 100% sure.

I'm a fan of an american series named "The L Word" and from Season 1 to Season 5 were awesome and they made the final season which is Season 6 a total disappointment. They changed the characters' personality, aspirations, dreams and as if this wasn't enough, the whole storyline is stupid. It doesn't seem like a continuation of the series, it seems like it's a parody. A bad one. And everyone was anxious to see the final season and more of the show but ever since the first episode of it aired, people are begging to change the whole storyline because this one doesn't work. And many people agree with me, like I prefer to keep the 5 seasons, than to have the whole series. Seriously, Ilene Chaiken (TLW's creator) should have been on drugs when she wrote the story for this final season.

So yeah, we can't really be 100% sure that it's going to be a great show, no matter what we've seen so far and the previews looked great (both UY's new OVA and TLW's Final Season) but we can always get a bad surprise.

Oh well... What can we do? Wait! xD

It's a Rumic World DVD Preview
Next week's Shonen Sunday will also have a DVD featuring trailers for the animation featured at the event. It's a Rumic World event. Its unclear yet if the DVD will feature only the opening animation that has been spread around the internet, but it definitely does not include the full episodes from the gallery show. We'll share more information when our issue arrives next week. Source: Websunday

i guess, that with a little more reclamation, urusei yatsura could become the biggest anime ever. I don't know anything of earlier, since i first came bumping into it last year, but what i do know is that everyone i have told it about, loved the series^^ Maybe never as much as i love it, but still, i guess that urusei yatsura once again could go to the top, if just someone invested their money into it:P
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: cata on March 24, 2009, 09:49:46 PM
I swear that if I had a comfortable life (economically) I would invest my money in Urusei Yatsura. UY is one of those things that if you give it a chance, it will hook you up and you'll be thinking about it without even noticing it. It's one of those things that makes you want to come up with new ideas for new episodes and actually create your own UY version. Seriously, I can't come up with any reasonable reason why didn't anyone invest some money in it.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

I would have animated some episodes myself to, if it wasn't for that I can't write the same thing twice, (nope, it always ends up in two different persons) and, I am not good in making those in 3d:P

Has been having some fun drawing etc. www.ammo1991.freehost10. com haven't updated the site since January, but i might scan in some more pictures in a while. I cannot draw bodies, so, only faces xD, but i might learn to draw bodies sometime to, but first of all; learn to copy ones own pictures, xD!

edit:
- I see i have made the site in Norwegian, if it is absolute, I might change it to English, (as I will do later aneways:P)

I just can't understand her! To me it feels like she doesn't like UY anymore! Like she regret having all those ideas for storylines and characters and etc.

Oh, I doubt it's anything like that. She's probably just moved on. I know the feeling. Honestly, I think we should better appreciate that she can work on one story for so long and still keep it interesting, as opposed to complaining that she didn't do enough. Not only did she do it for Urusei Yatsura, but she did it for Ranma, and then again for Inuyasha. Although I have to agree that UY was her biggest success (Ranma always felt unfinished to me, and Inuyasha had a tendency to drag on from time to time), I think she's done fine by working on other projects. I'm even looking forward to the new series in April.

And to everyone who says "oh, I can do this better" or "I would have continued it on my own if...", why don't you try shutting up and doing it instead of just dreaming about it. That's what I was doing when I was making UYRemix. I knew I could do it better. I had so many ideas as to what I would do instead. In the end, I decided that it's better to use my ideas for something original that I can call my own instead of just trying to do someone else's story better.

Rumiko couldn't predict that the company she was working for would close...

And where exactly did you hear that lie? Shogakukan lets the writers/artists retain the rights to their published works, and they're the only company who publishes her work. I'll be damned if anyone can find the source of that ridiculous rumor I've heard about Stan Lee holding the rights for UY. She holds full rights to the property and could, hypothetically, pick it up again at any time she wants.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: FallinG_StaR on March 25, 2009, 04:10:01 AM
What lie?

It's the truth... or did she predict the company was going bankrupt?

You're talking about the manga... I wasn't... ;D

"Rumiko Takahashi did not work with Kitty again after the last Ranma OAV was released in 1996; Sunrise handled the animation duties on Inuyasha. As of 2007, the company mainly exists as a talent agency, having sold off the rights of most of their anime hits."
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: sidzero on March 25, 2009, 04:35:21 AM
Oh, well, if you want to go there... She didn't work for Kitty films, and never did. UY was written as a manga for Shonen Sunday comics. A few years later when it was popular, Kitty acquired the rights to do an anime version, but the story and characters and what not still belong to Rumiko Takahashi. Of course, Kitty really didn't do jack to begin with other than playing middle man and pawning all the work off on Studio Pierrot, and then Studio Deen.

no, man!! no remakes, remakes always suck!! :(
plus, a remake may spoil or contaminate the franchise. as a fan of the original UY, when yu'll be watchin it, yu'll be like, wtf!! what is this?! this isnt how its supposed to be!... Lum never said that!!... Ataru never did that!... i thought cherry was supposed to be ugly!!... who's THIS guy, i never saw him before!!...  and all that. it cud corrupt the series.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: sidzero on March 26, 2009, 07:12:57 PM
See, that's the kinda thinking I was afraid of when I was doing UYRemix. I always kept that in mind and ultimately, it was one of the key reasons why I decided to take my ideas into doing something original.

But I have to disagree with one thing... remakes do NOT always suck. Look at Battlestar Galactica, or the reboot of the 007 universe since Casino Royale. Just because they call it a reimagining or a reboot or whatever instead of a remake doesn't mean it's anything different, even if that was precisely the reason they CALL them anything but a remake.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

... Or they could make my idea... UY+Shuffle!+AMG! = OMG WTF?!
At least in my brain it looks good and funny... ;D

Oh... If I had the money... I would... take a long vacation... XD

I love UY as it is but I want MORE! More EPISODES, more OVAs, more MOVIES!

It's not. We were discussing our opinions on remakes. Making a big deal about how a UY remake would be the worst thing in the world to someone who spent several months on writing a UY remake is likely never to be pretty.

There's no need for abusive and/or excessive swearing and calling names. If this continues, I feel the need to close this thread or take other measurements so keep it cool, nice and easy, yes? Kids do read these boards as well as adults...

Both of you stop...
(my head is spinning from this)
The 2 of you have left the debate completely and focussing on each others flaws, usually when posts are this long i just skim for abusive language but when i have to read the whole thing(from both several post before to the very end) i'm not happy, both side have made assumptions and mistakes, TooCool has realized the error with his 1st and 2nd post and that is good, but both of you are aggravating the other into this arguement.

Sidzero your post was abusive, i cant stop your opinion but please be aware that hate towards another member is not acceptable, unless in extreme instances, such as those that join just for the sense on spreading hate(older members will know these individuals), its true that people can get on others nerves but you have to take another method to showing your disagreement, do some research and give sites that prove other people wrong, you may learn something new as well.

TooCool your not on solid ground either, you should just drop this subject instead of continuing the questions that will only get answers that can be abusive, instigators are as guilty as the person that throws the first punch.

Both of you need to apoligize to each other before this debate continues(if it does)

hmm... I can't lock this topic because it was a very usefull topic until a few days ago...

So I think I will just remove some posts or parts of them... I did say last time any agressive offtopic would be deleted.

Just give me time to read all this again... ::)

no, sorry, but i dont support the idea that entire posts be deleted or portions editted out.
it shall not be in the best of interest. and deleting entire posts or parts of them will only be misleading and confusing, and it will break the context (and may also seem like a cover-up for something). im nay towards this notion.
however, u may (and probly shud) censor certain words used or anything that maybe indecent or harmful for this site/community, as u deem suitable.

Well, You see TooCool if you just acted the same way as your username (TooCool) nothing of this would have happen.

I'm not saying this is all your fault... I just think you didn't know that Sidzero goes hardcore when it comes to defending his ideals and stuff... But still the way you replied doesn't make you any better than Sidzero. So don't go blaming all on him.

Another thing, Sidzero, I think this is the 3rd time you go into a "post war" War ;D with someone...  Please try to go easy on people... I think you're experienced enough to know the limits.

And I removed posts that I think went way offtopic and I may have accidently deleted some that weren't and for that I apologize.

I would! xD

As long as he wasn't chasing around 2 certain people... xD

Sometimes, I wonder how would this world be if people suddenly turned into the anime character that most suits each person. Maybe, like Falling "suggested", I would be Kanako Miyamae from "Maria + Holic". I just wonder who Mariya would be...? xD

I woke up with a nosebleed once or twice. Apparently it has nothing to do with those type of thoughts, the tissue in ur nose is just more easily torn than other tissue.

What anime character could I be?
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

Hum... it was a joke UruseiNeo. xD I nosebleeded because I wipped by nose to many times because I'm ill. >.<

Okay! Sand and UruseiNeo post your real characteristics in this thread and then anyone feel free to make a suggestion about your Anime-selves. :)

I sometimes wear glasses.

I excel in Math and I like to make videos on my lap top.

I like to be unpredictable ^_^

You probably shouldn't take everything I say too literally, sid has made this mistake a lot XD

I am pretty nice and generous and I try to help where I can.

Not really someone who goes around looking for girls.

I have a lot of game systems and I like to play games in my spare time.

I kinda mimic some anime style things.

And I know someone is going to wanna say this, don't pick Konata for me -_-'''

I made a quiz (there's several out there) ;D and this is what I got... Saddly... XD

For 47 % you are: You are Hideki from Chobits? You are the average desperate guy. No more needs to be said.

Sad thing... is that I don't even know that anime... XD
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: cata on April 07, 2009, 03:28:21 AM
AHAHAHAH! Falling's an average desperate guy! xD So not like Mariya... =P

UruseiNeo, I'll post the results of my research later okay?

I decided to take some tests too and here's my results:

Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist (I didn't know the quiz was for guys but whatever xD)
Miyafuji Miina from Onegai Twins!
Kairi from Kingdom Hearts
InuYasha (lol it's kind of funny. Again, I didn't know it was for guys. xD)
Mitsuki Koyama from Full Moon Wo Sagashite

Well these characters have little too much to do with each other. Very interesting, don't you agree? xD
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: FallinG_StaR on April 07, 2009, 05:12:02 AM
...

Cata, I'm not desperate... like you I got several characters... and the after Hideki was Naruto... And I don't even see how in the world I got that...

I guess the one questioned that screwed me on the quiz was about:

 Question 2: Do you like....
  A) cigarettes
  B ) military officers
  C) ramen
  D) porn
  E) shooting

I guess you know the answer... XD

Need to do a new one... I did one and I end up finding myself as some girl character... then I noticed I was making girl quiz tests... XD

What the Hell...

And that way it looks like more like me...

Nice post, Falling. I was amazed by that. o.o

If you go to www.quizzilla.com and in the search thing you type "anime" or "anime character" you'll find many quizzes made by people. Lots of people. And they're rated, too so you'll know if it's a waste of time or not.

RESULTS FOR URUSEINEO:

Your Anime-self is....

Uryuu Ishida from Bleach!

I hope you like the results... :)

Kroptik:

You can say whatever you feel like saying that you think that defines you. I mean, I'm tall often people such as my family or their friends or even my teachers ask me to help them because being tall is useful for what they need. Kanako (which is my anime-self) is really tall so it suits me. (But hey, I'm only 1.70 metres but it could be that Portugal is full of short people?) I have short hair. Kanako has short hair. Actually our hair is pretty much the same minus the hair colour. I'm a brunette and she's a erm... blue-haired girl. We both like girls and have those crazy and daydreams full of pervertness (I don't even know why I'm saying this, lol) and about other things that will never happen.
Also I changed school when I was in 7th grade which is something that doesn't happen frequently. And finally, I also want to find that person that I could spend the rest of my life with. This may sound too soppy but yeah... it's what I want. Oh I almost forgot, my grades suck, too.

Let's think of:

Ataru - pervertness, speed, stamina, endurance, shyness, ugly (I don't agree! xD), bad luck, picked on by the teacher, determined, etc.

Cherry - monk, cat old man, ugly, scary, explosions, unpredictable, hunger, etc.

I guess Kanako fits me well. I think now you have more or less an idea of what you should say.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: Kroptik on April 08, 2009, 02:28:15 PM
Well here goes then...

I'm 19, about 1.80 meters, dark brown short hair, blue/green eyes. I wear glasses. I don't consider myself attractive.
I play A LOT of video games, that's practically all I do, besides watching anime of course. My grades are a bit low but that's probably because I hardly bother studying. I don't get attached too much to people and I'm shy around girls.

I guess that's enough? XD
i'll l eave the rest in your hands now. :P
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

It's from Maria Holic and her name is Nanami Kiri.

About the your male Anime-self I still need more time.

I know I said I wouldn't want to know what anime character I would be, but the truth is, I think I already know the answer.

Jun Sakurada, from Rozen Maiden.

Neither one of us likes other people, and we both live what are essentially hermit lives, our only source of entertainment and socialization being the computer, we're both into the occult, and we're both creatively talented (although his is sewing whereas mine is writing).

The biggest difference though, is that I don't play with dolls.

That's not true, if you didn't like other people then you wouldn't have all these friends here :P

I don't think I would go so far as to call anyone around here "friend". Acquaintance maybe, but friends is pushing it.

Hikikomori, the phenomenon of isolating oneself from society.

He can have friends... over the internet. But doesn't like to be around people.

I was the same... when I was younger (15 years old). Suffered from hikikomori later on when I was 18... but for other reasons... (love) XD

Tatsuhiro's former kouhai (Junior) in high school, who is an otaku. Tatsuhiro once stood up for him when he was still in middle school being beat up by some bullies, since then, he respected him greatly and decided to join the literature club with him when he went into high school. He is currently Tatsuhiro's neighbor and a college student aspiring to be a game creator. He made Tatsuhiro join his dōjin soft eroge project, and was also responsible for turning Tatsuhiro into an otaku. His family owns a sizable farm in Hokkaidō. Later, he is forced to return to the farm due to his father's sickness; at that point, realizing he has no hope of continuing any aspect of his life in Tokyo, he drives away his crush, Nanako. In the end of the story, he is living happily at his parent's farm and also currently dating a girl who looks exactly like Nanako whom he hopes to marry in the future.

That's the discription from Wikipedia, since I don't know the anime either. :P
The bold part fits me like a glove, except maybe the literature club part... :\
But the rest... meh. XD

What?!

You're Tatsuhiro neighbor? Or you mean just the part of being bullied, Otaku and aspiring to be a game creator? XD
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: Kroptik on April 10, 2009, 04:33:08 AM
That and the part that no one stood up for me when I was bullied.
And naturally I'm not his neighbour, I never met the guy.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: cata on April 10, 2009, 01:27:17 PM
Reason why I think he fits Kroptik:
he is an Otaku
only has two real friends (doesn't get too attached to people)
He wears glasses
Dark brown hair is not very different from black hair
He's a massive video-gammer
Kroptik is 19, Yamazaki is 18.

Pretty close, huh?

I've almost finished Chobits! (had to watch it after the quiz I made) And I must say... That Hideki would be my anime self...

But seriously... Kroptik being Nanami from Maria+Holic... I don't know...

Cata male character would be this one...

Tōichirō Kanae
Tōichirō Kanae is the priest of the school Ame no Kisaki. He is the teacher for Modern Japanese and is very popular among the students because of his good looks. He gets a crush on every beautiful girl he sees and is currently "in love" with Mariya, Matsurika and Ayari. He seems to be concerned about Kanako because of her strange behavior in his eyes. She is also the only one who failed in the Modern Japanese exams. Because of Mariya making up a story about how Kanako's elder brother died and that he resembles her brother, he desperately wants to help her. He is similar to Kanako because he begins his sentences sometimes with "Skipped, Dear mama in heaven..." and is also prone to having long internal monologues (and generally looking too deeply into the most trivial of matters) and occasionally, fantasies. He also thinks much about what a person could mean when he or she is saying something. The similarity between Kanako and him is also that they both like beautiful girls. He is half-French.
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: cata on April 11, 2009, 02:13:56 AM
I would never be a priest or a nun! xD
Besides, I am not successful whether it's around girls or boys.
I'm not half-french. I'm 100% portuguese. xD

But I do admit there are some similarities.

If  you  look  look  at  one  one  the  pics  you  see  atarus  good  friend  next  to  him.  The  one  that  looks  like  perms  but  only  appears  in  the  manga.  Meaning  that  this  ova  goes  by  the manga  not  the  show.

PS: I  thinks  lum  looks  weird  because   shes  drowning.

Saw something in Wikipedia which led me to believe that Kosuke Shirai is included in the new episode (voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi), but wasn't sure until now.

There's a nice paragraph over on Furinkan.com about the new episode.

"... she was drowning ...." My heart stops cold every time I read that (and, no, it's not because I'm old ...  :( )

Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: UruseiNeo on May 30, 2009, 08:21:18 PM
You said so yourself
I read somewhere that the new OVA was released and its called The Obstacle Course Swim Meet.

And by looking at the first of six stillframes in the picture on page 19, I can read that the first character is "za" in Katakana which means "The" and that there are two kanji I recognize that mean "water" and "meet"

So I'd say that's the title "The Obstacle Course Swim Meet"

Yeah, I know. STILL don't like it. However, I found out that shot is where she's FAKING being drowned (she's sneeking a peek at Ataru as he battles a giant snake that held her under) in order to score an artificial-respiration kiss from him. ;D

Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

Try reading hentai manga... I think you'll understand what the charcters are doing all the way to the end... XD
What will confuse you will be the "fansubs" (translations) that I think in some cases are just made up...
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"
Post by: cata on June 15, 2009, 03:17:43 PM
Hentai manga? How about looking for hentai galleries? xD
Lots of fansubs of hentai whether it's manga or anime are made up. It sucks. =\

I think I already said this here but anyways I'll say it again: I only watch hentai if there's a plot behind it. Same thing goes for any Anime series, movies or other TV shows.

I've seen a few hentai movies and some are actually pretty good. But as I said earlier, if there's no story, I just get bored. xD

I don't understand why people feel embarassed of watching hentai or any other mature content. What's the big deal? xD
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

The big deal is... "the big deal" some of the "deals" are longer than my arm... and still it goes all the way in the women "deal". ;D

Nah... I don't feel embarrassed of watching hentai... at least not when I'm alone... XD
I actually consider them very amusing... and funny... mostly because of the way they "do it" and the fact that big breasts are like water balloons and yet the consistency of pudding... XD And I would like that dessert... ;D  :P

Oh... and the dialogue during the... boy and girl become one... always makes me laugh...  :icon_mrgreen:
Title: Re: "It's a Rumic World"

It's a a commercial announcing the newest pachinko slot machine Urusei Yatsura-themed. I saw most of the scenes but I admit that I've never seen some, too. Or maybe I don't remember them. I can't say if they were made just for the commercial or if it's some sort of sneak peak to the new OVA we've been waiting for, or if it's something else.

some of the scenes were depicted from manga chapter scenes that weren't put into the anime episode such as the match between the girls that were running for miss tomobiki.

The actually contest was in the anime, but a lot was cut out from the manga.

There's one thing that I'm disapointed about... Lum's eyes.

I think the art of this new OVA I can get used to but Lum's eyes are just nothing that she originally has. Her hair is different, too but her eyes are just... not hers.

Anyways... Can't wait to see the new OVA!!!!

I don't think it looks bad, just different, but I'm not a person to notice eyes in anime, so it really doesn't bother me... :P

I think you got me wrong like, I didn't mean to seem angry or anything. I miss the old style but I like the new OVA's style, too. I'm not like "It's not UY anymore!!!".

The problem with some 13 year olds is... appearances are everything.

"Hajime no Ippo" is probably the ONLY Anime that got me hooked up (I tottally recommend it whether you like sports or not, whether you think Boxing is dumb or not, etc) like... pretty bad. I saw episode, after episode, after episode, and so on. Guess what? The Manga is from 1989 and the Anime is from 2000. The animation is pretty good when it comes to body (it's a boxing Anime) but when it comes to faces... well... it makes you think that EVERYONE from 1989 to 2000 was freaking ugly! Despite that, the Anime is a 9 or 10 out of 10!!!

I read lots of comments saying "what's up with their noses?" and "their animators sucked!" and "I can draw better than that!". Many people thought it was a waste of time and what's sad about this is that if those people gave it a second chance and watch at least 3 or 4 episodes, they would see that the whole storyline, characters, jokes, situations and concept are amazing.

Sorry for going offtopic.

Hmm... I don't want to go offtopic but... Because of the movie Transformers many people got interested in the animated series... (the original one) and believe me... for me the original was the best animation I ever saw... (when I was 8) now looking back at it... compared to today's standards... they look like they where drawn by 8 year old kids... ;D

But if you take for example the anime Shinchan... the art is kinda... childish... but its still popular because its funny as hell... XD

And because of that... I have to say... appearances aren't everything... at least for some...

Oh ShinChan is awesome! I laughed so hard everytime I saw it on TV. The butt-dance is hilarious! xD

Glad someone else likes it... XD

Btw, just to keep it ontopic... Are they releasing new Ranma1/2 and Inuyasha OVA's too?

I'm pretty sure they are being released along with the UY OVA. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

I'm pretty sure they (the Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha episodes) are being released along with the UY OVA. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

That's my understanding, too: all 3 of the new episodes are in the box-set coming out 29 January 2010.

What I wanna know is, if it's gonna get some subs? And if not, how long it's gonna take to get them?

It takes about a day for someone to subtitle the new episodes of Haruhi.

So with this much of a heads up on the new OVAs, I can imagine that subbers are getting ready to do so.

Well, they'd only do so if there's money to be made

what are u talking about? they don't make money, they're fansubs 0.0

How would they make money uploading their subtitled version to youtube as soon as they finish?

Ahhh, ok. I thought subs were done by companies as a business. =P

They used to I guess. There are official subs of a thrilion shows but as soon as it loses its popularity, the company drops it and fans endup subbing their favourite shows for free.

That's not really the problem. :P
Fansubs come out the next day after an episode, sometimes even faster, depending on how quick the fansubbers can get the raws they want. Official subs always take long, and being official, money is needed to legally watch them.

Well, I know the OVA preview from a year ago (it had characters from all of the OVAs at once) was fansubbed. Has anyone subbed the new UY OVA preview?

Well, here's a version of that video that's not only in much higher quality, but without the Chinese subtitles.

#Invalid YouTube Link#

Still no English fansub, though. But that'll probably come once the actual OVA is released.

Yep... and after looking around through this thread, it seems nobody knows when these OVAs will come out. Well, they come out in 2010 and you can pre-order them from CDJapan (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=PCBE-63361&utm_source=MAIL&utm_medium=MAIL&utm_content=PCBE-63361&utm_campaign=ANIME).

Quite a hefty price, but thankfully there's plenty of time to save up. I'm saving up for this release right now, as I definitely plan on getting this. ;D

If anyone wants to watch the InuYasha OVA, I'm pretty sure its the same as episode 15 of InuYasha the Final Act

2009 - Preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-H2YRfnX7QA

Jan 9 - Episode: http://www.animeshout.com/inuyasha-the-final-act-episode-15.html

Use hulu.com (http://www.hulu.com/watch/119292/inuyasha---the-final-act-true-heir?c=Animation-and-Cartoons#s-p1-so-i0) or ShonenSunday.com/anime (http://shonensunday.com/anime/index.php?sid=10&ep=15) <-- this is from VIZ Media LLC, but only for US Users (or you have a US VPN Client to bypass the Region Check).

It is better to use hulu.com or ShonenSunday.com to support VIZ Media LLC, the other unofficial Link is only a Rip from hulu.com with a miserable Quality.

Not in English (that I know of). The one on YouTube is fansubbed in CHINESE!! :D

And in German.

I don't expect the new Urusei Yatsura will be very good. I've seen a fan subbed version of the Ranma 1/2 OVA and its rubbish. Not only was the story and the way characters were shown was bad, the animation and music was worse than the original anime. There is a reason why it costs so much: they don't expect it will sell very much and they think that all fans of the original anime will buy it just because it has the Urusei Yatsura/Ranma 1/2/Inuyasha name attached.

What? I liked both OVAs. The art is different but that was... inevitable? Times change and so does technology.
