The World of Urusei Yatsura's Lum Logo Contest
Due to the new layout (The Green Theme and the variantions of it) the site needs a new logo. If you are creative and want to help me out you can create a new logo with the dimensions 600px × 60px up to 800px X 80px, you can send your creation to forum@lum-chan.com with as subject "New Website Logo Contest".
The text 'The World of Urusei Yatsura's Lum" has to be in the logo.
I have created this topic with your emailed logo's and added a poll to it. Of course you can post your creation in this topic and I'll add it to this Poll as well.

We don't actually talk only about Lum in Urusei Yatsura, we talk about everyone.
I would say, if we won't keep the logo that we have, lets at least leave "World of Urusei Yatsura".

I'm not changing the skin. Updates and modifications aren't always applied to Skins which creates a lot of work for me.
I used a skin a few years ago and it was too much hassle to update the skin as wel as the default skin. Most authors create a nice skin but won't update it as new modifications and updates arrive for the forum and portal software.
But yes, it would be nice to have it transparant but a bordered logo is ok as long as it fits all the greenish Themes which are available (don't make one which should work with the default (blueish) and Babylon theme as the Babylon theme will be deleted and the default is just for testing purposed as it's the default SMF skin)

Partly correct, but the forum is UY topic most of the times but the basic site (check the navigation menu and especially the galleries are dedicated to our beloved Lum. The text 'The World of Urusei Yatsura's Lum' needs to be in the logo.

I decided to participate and here is what I was able to do with my current image-editing-program: GIMP2.
EDIT: changed the color of the background because old one was little too bright colored.
Because I like the style of the old one, I made this logo look little like it. Just changed the text in blue and made it into GIF-animation. If this is too small, it can be easily made bigger of course.

Of course I like my own logo but because it's not fair to vote my own logo, I vote the logo #3. :D
It blends pretty well with almost all kinds of color themes.

Now when I'm looking those other logos, I'm thinking: "Maybe I should have put more effort into my logo's making..."
Well, I just got the image manipulation program, that I used, 2-4 days ago. I'm not that familiar with it yet ^^' (hehe)

Too bad that it HAD to have background. Otherwise I couldn't have done it. Trust me...I tried to make it first so that it wouldn't have background (or the background would be transparent) but the program didn't let me to do that... >.<

the logo number 2 is all right.
is the rest of the skin of the site that's too dark: when I'm reading the threads, after few minutes, my eyes begins to burn !!!

In your profile you can pick one of the available Themes. Only the Babylon Theme isn't up-to-date and will probably be deleted in a few days. The other Themes you can choose from,all support the new functions/modifications on the forum.

Btw, the logo on the forum as it is now looks better... maybe its because I like keeping old things... but I realy like the original logo... why change it??? XD

I digged this logo up on an old network share. It is larger and has not that much dithering at the edges as the old one. So I placed it as default on the website and centered it as well.
It looks kinda good. I'll let the contest going on and the banner(s) with the most votes wil rotate with the original one. That sounds like a good idea.... right?

well green, yellow, and black are Lum colors. Green is already the background and black is too plain.

Feel free to submit a new logo even if you already submitted one. Variations are sometimes even better than the original one ;)
Edit: Added Logo 3 to the Header-rotation -> converted to .gif format

Btw, Lum-Chan... when I press F5 it always shows the same logo... (the original one)... and never does the rotation...

Sorry about that FallinG_StaR,
I didn't change the rotation to the other themes. This has been fixed now. All available themes should have a rotation after pressing F5 of Shift-F5. The last shown banner will then be your current banner unless you'll redo the refreshing thing again.

Since the logos are rotating I don't think there's a need for the poll at all, since it was to pick the new website logo.
Now it's just an endless poll to pick your favourite.

No, it's not endless, but I'd like to get you guys more involved in the looks of the site. Unfortunate I don't plan the change the whole skin of the site.
I'd like to have about ten logo's to rotate and then stop the adding of the logo's and keep them rotating.
Then I'll try to find something new to keep you 'busy' ;D
Edit: One request for the creator of the animated logo: Is it possible for you to make it the same size as the other logo's. Then I can add your logo to the rotation as well. It's now a bit too small to fit. Max size is 800 x 80 pixels.

6, and here's why:
1 and 3 should be out because using a transparent gif with text always makes the text look choppy around the edges. It's the lack of anti-aliasing.
5 has to go because an animated gif logo is obnoxious as all hell. Flashy things like that generally annoy the eyes.
This leaves 2, 4, and 6. While 2 and 4 are good (in fact I really like the little swirls in the backgrounds), 6 is a hell of a lot more stylish, AND it has a picture of Lum. That way anyone who stumbles upon this site and may not know exactly who you're talking about can see it and be like "Oh, it's that anime looking chick with green hair, gotcha."
What would be best is if you could replace the green background of 6 with a background like 2 or 4, but still keep the yellowish glow behind Lum and the paint-splatters behind the text. I would also change the font of the text (or at least italicize it further than Brush Script MT normally is), and make both lines of text a different font, but that's just my opinion, from a graphic design standpoint.
