This evening, casually, I've had a great, big surprise: our local TV (one of the first "FREE TV since 1977) was showing "Ranma 1/2" (at 20) and "Inuyasha" (at 20:30).
IT'S THE SAME TV THAT SHOWED LAMU' IN 1984 (THE FIRST ONE IN ITALY ) !!!!
I've thought: "back to basic", so I've just phoned them to know if they want to show again Urusei Yatsura.
I'VE HAD AN HEARTATTACK !!!
One of them have saied to me: "REGRETFUL, OUR POLICY IS TO DO NOT SHOW ANY PORNO MATERIAL !!!!!"
I'VE SCREAMT ALOUD !!!
SO MUCH !!!
SO LONG !!!
I've tried to remeber him:
- that they've just showed THE SAME ANIME from 1984 to 1988;
- THAT, IN THE NIGHT, THEY USE TO SHOW LOTS OF "RED-LIGHT-SPOTS" ABOUT LOTS OF EROTIC CHAT LINES !!!!
As a reponse, he has menaced me to denounce me to the police for "assaults".

As far as nudity goes, Ranma has done pretty much the same things as UY. bath episodes too.
If it's SO bad, EDIT IT. They do it to everything else anyways.
Also nobody ever has sex so I would not call it porn.

FINALLY THE TRUTH !!!
This time I've spoke with someone with a Q.I. rather normal.
FOR THE MOMENT URUSEI YATSURA IS NOT IN THEIR PLANS, that's all folks (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr).
When I've asked about that moron of yesterday, they've simply answered: "we don't know about that person, in any case now we know that his brain was set off in that moment" !!!
So, what I have to do ?
That TV is just 20 km far from my house: may I have to make a butchery or, as Confucio was used to say, I have just to wait for the auto-distruction of that dumb ?
("BISCHERO", IN FLORENTIAN LANGUAGE!!!).

If you want to watch it that badly... you can buy the dvds, or you can acquisition the episodes in... other ways.

The quality is too poor: they have the original japanise voices (those of Hirano Fumi for Lamù and Furukawa for Ataru) and the same for theitalian dubbing (the best and the beloved) AND NOTHING ELSE !!!

NO BONUS !!!
A REAL DELUSION !!!
The only one consolation is the price: just 8 euro for DVD, each one with 6 episodes.
I prefere to watch Lamù on youtube or to get the best episodes from "th-e-mule", to have the material to make new AMV or to make my comic.

that means you would have to pay 264eur (aprox 414$) for all episodes in DVD (considering 6 episodes per DVD). A real punch of money... Just not to mention how still will cost the movies and OVAs...

I have the whole collection of Urusei yatsura everything totaled up $ 310 US. (This was when animeigo had a sale of uy products of $5 US an item.)
I also have a Lum shirt and 2 plush dolls

If they're not airing UY because of a naked breast or two, then they couldn't air 90% of the current existing movies, because they all have a "sex implying scene" (meaning it's too obvious what the characters are gonna do next).
It's a stupid excuse...

May be ... there's NOTHING wrong. The different mores which guide the content of UruseiYatsura (not to mention other manga & anime) serve as a lesson to us about Other Cultures, and a reminder that "we" aren't the only game in town.
Having said that, I admit I'm still amazed at it. I mean, these shows aired at 7:30pm Sunday Nights in 1981 on national TV in Japan.... :@ ;D

I have got UY episodes totally for free: through torrent!
Currently I'm downloading the movies and OAV's. They should be complete in 1-2 days.
Yeah, it's true that it is illegal of course....but UY isn't actually licensed anymore....even though they show it in some countries and still sell DVD's.
But I can't believe that one guy who said that Urusei Yatsura is porn....
If it's porn...just what hentai is then? O.o

Well, when I saw UruseiYatsura for the first time it was a perfect "sexual-maniac-education": with the exemple of Ataru I've begun to hunt the girls without feeling any shame ;D ;D
About the rest, I think that it exist only 1-2 scenes with Lamù totally naked (1 time under a shower, 1 time having a bath), other 1-2 scenes with Benten totally naked (2 time having a bath), some scenes with Lamù in topless (the notorious bra-stripping) AND NO MUCH MORE !!!
Seeing Ranma I've to say that, from the FIRST episode, there is a scene with the main female characters totally naked.
... AND IT WAS JUST THE FIRST EPISODE !!!
I don't know about Inuyasha but I know that, from the releasing of Uruseiyatsura, the "sexy-side" of any anime is a MUST !!!

Giovane, I would like to know the name of the tv channel you contacted!
More than 10 years ago I worked in a little channel that simply aired local news reports, for the rest of the time the airing was that of a bigger channel!
At lunch time there was a news report and after that a bunch of anime...too bad sometimes the news report was too long and ended when anime were already started!
One day I received a phone call from a guy really upset about Saint Seiya being so often ruined by the news airing!
it was hard, but finally he calmed down, after knowing I liked anime too and were unable to do something about that.
He was lucky, since noone else in the whole building would have taken him and his problem seriously!
About the italian DVD quality I agree with you, it's quite poor...but I needed them badly, so I bought them all! And I'm happy! I waited about 20 years for those episodes and I couldn't wait for someone sharing on the net! And, besides that, I like to see all those tigerstiped dvd on the shelf! ^o^
They are just near the USA version, still uncomplete (I miss some dvd) but much more complete than the italian one!

L'emittente in questione è di un paese vicino al mio, adesso apprezzata anche a Firenze: penso sia stata tra le prime a trasmettere la serie animata di Lamù e poi ad acquistare (oddio, per quell'epoca "acquistare" era una parola grossa: causa un difetto di legislazione per 2 lire le varie "telelibere" dell'epoca fecero incetta di Anime, così da avere introiti pubblicitari a gogo con costi rasoterra) anche altre "stagioni", trasmesse poi col titolo di "SuperLamù".
Ho comprato alcuni DVD della serie regolare: devo dire che la DeAgostini ha lavorato al risparmio, in quanto non c'è alcun "extra" che valga la pena esser preso in considerazione (le sigle non riesco a considerarle "extra").
A proposito, già che ci sono ti faccio un mini messaggio promozionale: lo stai leggendo il fumetto che sto pubblicando nella stanza "alternative ending"?

On MAL, it's listed as PG-13
Now... while I'm sure this makes Uncle Gio happy, shouldn't UY maybe be a bit higher in age range? I mean I've seen shows that have no nudity at all that are rated much higher (Death Note and Nuku Nuku DASH! - R)
So either UY should have a higher rating (like 15 or 16) or they should bring other shows down (Nuku DASH! specifically should not be R when the original Nuku Nuku actually does have (one) nude scene)

I've seen a few 14A movies with full frontal nudity in the theatres, and was a lot more sexual than UY. Also, the nudity is rare and isn't explicit or "dirty", it's very brief and just kinda get's away with it XD

I was 13 when I first saw UY and I got surprised on the first "mature" scenes but after a bit I got used to it and I didn't got traumatized or anything. Let it be PG-13.

It's the minimum age that people have to have so that they can watch shows.
Like, mature shows are PG-18 (for people over 18 years old)

Also, the "PG" means "parental guidance". So if something was rated PG18, anyone under 18 years old would need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

I started watching South Park since I was 6 years old. My mom always thought it was just a regular ol' cartoon, so I got away with it XD

I'm actually really peeved that there are anime that get cut (YuGiOh, DBZ, Blue Dragon, etc) or are not aired at all (I'd list some except that I WOULDN'T KNOW that something good is not being aired)
and yet shows like Family Guy and South Park are left completely alone and are accepted.
I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before how Canada seems to be destroying anime for us :(

I don't think it's Canada's fault. It's the American companies that are destroying it. Canada is actually very easy-going when it comes to ratings. But when it comes to anime we still have to go by America's standards since they are the ones dunbbing/cutting.

I was just about raised on earlier TMNT tapes, with some Mario and Sonic. The question of whether UY fits in doesn't concern me. Rather not ruin a good thing! :D
I'd say they should make anime designed closer to American standards its own genre. Better than cutting series against their creators' intentions. Fullmetal Alchemist certainly feels less Japanese to me than usual, and I've only watched part of one of the movies.

Ummm... no, it's Canada's fault. America has an actual channel (Adult Swim) showing tons of anime that we don't get in Canada, ie Canada is choosing not to air some good anime.
in addition, the anime we do get that is aired on CANADIAN channels, such as Naruto and Bleach and Zatch Bell and Blue Dragon were on YTV. Now... they TOOK OFF Zatch and Blue Dragon, and then they MOVED Naruto and Bleach to midnight where barely anyone would watch them. Since this is a Canadian channel, America had very little to do with it.
Canada dubs stuff too, and DBZ is about the only thing I believe they did right (AKA Ocean dub and Vegitto's voice is number one there) U can tell when something was Canadian dubbed based on the common voice actors used.

I don't think Adult Swim is showing tons of anime either. Though they do have Cowboy Bebop and Inuyasha, which at least somthing. And I was really only talking about the dubbing, as most of it is done in America.
And yes, I agree YTV is dumb. They only airi re-run episodes of Bleach and Naruto. I believe they really don't care about anime at all, and are just doing a half-***ed job to try keep us happy.
Either way, North America is only airing re-runs. There are sooooo many good animes that got released recently, would it really hurt to air those instead???

Bleach and Naruto weren't reruns, YTV is just behind. Canada has ALWAYS been behind on anime which is another problem they have.
Adult Swim has Bleach, NEW Bleach and at a reasonable time (well currently there is a break, but Bleach is coming back in about a month I think)
I think this is the season of reruns, so its not that NA is just airing reruns, cause I know there were new anime episodes uploaded every day on youtube and such.
