Title: Yahoo.Japan UY Page
Post by: veehive on July 26, 2008, 01:54:02 PM
Whilst prowling around Fumi Hirano's blog (http://blog.excite.co.jp/fumi23blog/ (http://blog.excite.co.jp/fumi23blog/)), I ran across this link to a webpage on Yahoo.Japan; part of a celebration of All Things Rumic, I'm guessing ... http://weekly.yahoo.co.jp/71/work/index.html (http://weekly.yahoo.co.jp/71/work/index.html).

Don't know how long it'll be up, and of course it's in Japanese only (no apologies), but for the UruseiYatsura completist (What?! Us?!? Obsessive???) it's required reading (or at least looking).

I've been taking japanese and hopefully by the end of the school year I could translate the cool fan manga. I can currently translate pretty much any Hiragana into romanized characters (not english words, but japanese words in our alphabet)

thank you would be "arigatoo" but you would say "arigatoo gozaimasu" to be polite.

Here's some other words:

Ohayoo (Good Morning)
Ohayoo Gozaimasu (Good Morning politely)

Konnichiwa (Good afternoon)

Konbanwa (Good evening)

Sayoonara (Goodbye)

Oyasuminasai (Goodnight)

Sumimasen (Excuse me; I'm Sorry)

Iie (No; Not at all [can be a reply to "Sumimasen"])

Ittekimasu (I'll go and come back [Say this when leaving the house])
Itterashai (Please go and come back [Say this to someone leaving hence to someone who says "Ittekimasu])

Tadaima (I'm home)
Okaerinasai (Welcome Home)

Itadakimasu (Thanks for the food [before eating])
Gochisoosama (Thanks for the food [after eating])

Hajimemashite (How do you do?)

Doozo Yoroshiku (Nice to meet you)
