HOUSTON, I GOT A PROBLEM: I'M TOO OLD !!! :hehe
All right I know Candy Candy, it's a NOTORIOUS anime from the 70's !!!
The plot in brief: Candy Candy is from a Shojo made by Kyoko Mizuki
The main character (Candy, of course) is like a Cinderella: has not parents (a strange kind of must of the anime of that years !!), always cheerful, always kind, that have to suffer severals "jokes" from her (bad) "friends".
The historical period in which the story takes place is during the First World War, in fact Candy will become a nurse just to take care of Terence, the one who's fallen in love.
The worst pain of the saga is.... THE FINAL: in the last episode is not clear if she finally can marry Terence or not; this thing threw into despair all the little girls (who are now 40 years old and over!) that followed the series!
Of course boys disliked this tale: it was simply too mushy !!
But, in Italy, anyone still remember the first words of the opening theme:
Candy is poetry
Candy Candy is the harmony
Candy is the magic
Candy Candy is sympathy

You are correct, Sensei, because it was thanks to Candy Candy that I started enjoying several Anime series
I have to agree with SonicxReiHino considering that I do feel old remembering when I used to watch Candy Candy during the early 90s
Here is the Spanish version of the Opening of Candy Candy
