WHY!?! why has the world forgotten Urusei Yatsura?
why is Rumiko 'selling out'? whys she not giving a damn to Lum and her friends who introduced her to all that success in the first place? it makes me so sad, how some people are disrespection UY these days.

I've got two (very personal) answers to all your questions:
1) Ranma has sold over 50.000.000 copies all over the world, Lamù "JUST" about 30.000.000: the first one is so much lucrative than the second one;
2) RUMIKO TAKAHASHI IS NO MORE ABLE TO WRITE ANY NEW TALE ABOUT LAMU' AND FRIEND BECAUSE HER FANTASY HAS FINISHED !!!
The evidence is the incredible number of doujinshin manga edited in the meantime: UruseiYatsura is a (still) LIVING WORLD and anyone who has a bit of fantasy and passion is able to write and to design a new tale.
IF R.T. IS THE SOLE "SILENT" IS BECAUSE HER FANTASY HAS FINISHED !!!

Ranma is good, very good, i really like it, Inu Yashas probly good too, alotta guys like it (even though i dont much), but it REALLY makes me wanna ask, it makes me wanna guess, make me wanna KNOW, what does Rumiko Takahashi love. obviously, it should be UY, it SHOULD be, but it sadly seems that maybe its the $$$ that shes loves, sadly.

doing some UY-Ranma OVAs or special eps wud be good, and it wud also introduce UY to the fans of Ranma 1/2. that'd incourage peoples interest into UY more, including better merchandise and manga sales, so whats Rumiko so worried about.

anyway you guys are forgetting an important fact here, UY pretty much was entirely animated, there isnt much left of the manga, but Ranma 1/2 has a ton(believe me i know, took me forever to get through to the end) its not like there is any new content coming out just someone deciding to animate it

what if Rumiko has got a NAUSEA about writing a new episode of UY?
We've to consider also this: she has designed Lum for over 10 years, it could be a self-imposition to do not write anything for her just to avoid to be jailed into her clichè.
I remember that a similar thing happened also to Tomino, the creator of Gundam' saga: in the end he was really disgusted about it and when a pressman asked him "what about the new Gundam" he answered "here you are", took a little robot and jumped on it for several times !!!
In any case I think that only Monkey Punch is writing tales for Lupin the 3rd from more than 30 years: a real "white-fly" on the japanese manga-makers panorama !!!

They cud just make some new OVAs or special eps, using any chaps that were not used, if they wanted too, if they were actually in Such a grave crisis of not getting (or not wanting make) any new ideas or stories.
But i dont think it wud be hard at all to make a new Movie or OVA for UY.
and it also shuldnt be hard to make an ending or close to some sorta ending for UY, thats wud be something id really like. By "ending" i mean a movie where they actually get married or declare their intent to get married. i SO want that to happen, and i really wanna see something like that! oh please!
but THAT or not, THAT now or later, but i DO SO WANNA ATLEAST SEE A NEW URUSEI YATSURA MOVIE OR OVA RELEASED.

I like Ranma BUT my LOVE for URUSEI YATSURA is unconditional! I mean c'mon?!?!? If Rumiko only cares about money... Dude! Make both! x) If Rumiko can't imagine new things to happen in UY series, read some fanfics and recreate a story! Haven't she ever heard that you should ask for help when you can't come up with stuff? I mean... two or three heads are better than one!
URUSEI YATSURA UNTILL THE END OF TIME!

Hello people, there was a new UY made for the Rumiko Takahashi Exhibit, but it wasn't done in time. But now it is so now it's being shown across Japan, that should clear up some problems.
