My screen name comes from my interest in amateur sports-car racing with the Sports Car Club of America, specifically a class called Formula Vee (a formula car based on VW "Beetle" components).

Sadly, the average American doesn't know the SCCA exists (if it isn't on a banked oval, it doesn't get TV coverage here in the 'States). The joke is that SCCA stands for Secret Car Club of America ....
That Mr. Newman also raced in the SCCA thruout his life (not in a Formula Vee, but still ...) allowed me to co-opt' his involvement in my sport to more easily educate those who would ask "what kind o' racin' you do with that little bitty thing?"
